- Chapter 1: Weapon Leveling UP System
As he fought, Terry felt the healing properties of his weapon at work, closing some of his wounds and replenishing his strength. However, the enemies’ onslaught kept opening fresh wounds, a vicious cycle of damage and regeneration. Yet, Terry paid it no mind. His focus was unwavering, his resolve unshaken by the pain and the relentless attacks.
Amidst the clash of elements and the cacophony of battle, Terry pushed forward. His movements were a blend of defense and offense, his body a conduit of both pain and determination. With each bolt fired, each step taken, he carved a path through the enemies, fighting with a fervor that defied the odds stacked against him.
The battlefield around Terry was a whirlwind of chaos and destruction, yet his presence was a beacon of unwavering courage. Blood and wounds were mere details compared to the fire in his eyes, the unbreakable will that drove him forward. The sounds of battle and the impact of attacks were mere background noise, drowned out by the relentless rhythm of his actions.
"Retards... you don’t have a chance," Terry said. "I already can recover more damage that I can receive now."
At this juncture in the battle, Terry couldn’t help but ponder the enemy’s seemingly relentless onslaught. He began to suspect that there might be a method to their madness. It struck him that the adversaries might be attempting to power level him up, overwhelming him with an absurd number of monsters in the hopes that he would gain strength through the continuous combat. The futility of this strategy became more apparent with each passing minute, as Terry stood firm against their relentless assault. After enduring for what felt like an eternity, he couldn’t help but wonder why they hadn’t given up this approach after failing to bring him down in the initial stages of the battle.
Another thought that crossed Terry’s mind was the unwavering confidence the overlords seemed to have in their own abilities. The constant influx of monsters, the unrelenting attacks—they all seemed to serve a greater purpose. Terry couldn’t shake the feeling that the overlords were deliberately sending waves of adversaries to expedite their own arrival. It was as if they were so sure of their superiority that they sought to hasten their entrance onto the battlefield, underestimating Terry’s determination to stand against them.
Amidst these reflections, Terry glanced to the side and his eyes widened with alarm. He could see the portals that the enemies had summoned, and they had grown to towering heights—over fifty meters tall. It was far beyond the point where they should have naturally broken down or closed. This realization only deepened his concern and solidified the notion that the overlords were playing a dangerous game, manipulating the very fabric of reality to their advantage.
"I guess my only option is to speed up or run away from here as fast as I can..." Terry thought.
The magma golems, seemingly aware of the portal that could lead Terry back to Earth, had erected a colossal wall around it. This wall consisted of not one, but five layers of magma golems, their bodies stacked upon each other to form a towering barrier that reached up to two hundred meters in height. It was a daunting defense that would slow down even the most determined of foes.
Yet, Terry was not one to back down in the face of adversity. Although this massive wall posed a significant challenge, he knew that it wasn’t insurmountable. It might slow him down, but he remained determined to overcome it.
In the end, Terry made a resolute decision. He realized that the enemies had gravely underestimated him and believed they could wear him down over time. He knew he couldn’t let that happen. Although his worries about New York were ever-present, he had faith in Vanessa and Rebecca’s abilities to protect the city for at least a day.
With this knowledge in mind, Terry resolved to seize this opportunity to its fullest. He was determined to make the enemies regret their miscalculations. His goal was to harness as much power as possible, to grow stronger and more formidable with each passing moment. Terry understood that he needed to use this time to his advantage, to prepare himself for the inevitable confrontation with the overlords.
Just when Terry thought of that, the entire area began to tremble again.
The battleground quaked as if the very foundation of the world was on the brink of collapse. The ground trembled beneath Terry’s feet, and he could feel it in his bones. It was a sensation that sent shivers down his spine, making the hair on his back stand on end. Terry knew what was happening; he could sense it with every fiber of his being. The overlords were making their entrance, crossing through the portals that had brought this nightmarish conflict to Earth.
As the world around him seemed to hold its breath, an eerie stillness descended upon the battlefield. The monsters, which had relentlessly attacked him moments ago, now moved away from Terry. It was as if they sensed the impending arrival of their masters and dared not interfere with this pivotal moment.
But Terry was not one to let things be that simple for his foes. He refused to allow them any respite. While the monsters in the sky became his targets, he continued his assault. His crossbow fired with unerring accuracy, taking down the airborne adversaries one by one. Simultaneously, he harnessed his earth magic, causing the ground beneath the monsters on the floor to shift and buckle. Legs were crushed, and wounds were inflicted, causing the creatures to bleed out in agony.
Even as he executed this coordinated attack, Terry’s unwavering gaze remained fixed on the portals. He watched with bated breath as they trembled violently, dark lightning bolts crackling around their edges. The very fabric of reality seemed to strain under the impending arrival of the overlords, and Terry braced himself for the ultimate confrontation that was about to unfold.
"Come out, already, bastards," Terry said. "Do you think that this nonsense will scare me?"
Terry’s irritation had reached a boiling point, unlike anything he had experienced before. He felt insulted, not just by the overwhelming numbers of monsters but also by the fact that the enemy had underestimated him. They had believed that he was naive enough to fall for their ploy, that facing him directly was their best plan of action. It was a miscalculation that fueled Terry’s anger, and he was determined to make them pay for it.
As the overlords finally made their appearance, Terry’s expression was one of sheer defiance. He glared at them with unyielding intensity, his eyebrows furrowed in a mix of anger and determination. He had endured the relentless assault of their minions, and now it was time to face the ones pulling the strings.
The first overlord emerged, a colossal humanoid bull standing at a towering twenty meters in height. Its muscular frame was a testament to its formidable strength, and it wielded two giant battle axes, poised for destruction.
The second overlord took on a more humanoid yet avian form, standing at a comparatively smaller five meters in height. Lightning bolts crackled and danced around her, a display of her mastery over electricity.
The third overlord resembled a red dinosaur, a giant lizard with a massive head, short legs, and arms. Spiky scales adorned its back, and its mouth perpetually emitted smoke, adding to its ominous presence.
The fourth overlord appeared to be a bizarre amalgamation of elements, with a body made of magma, ice, electricity, and steel. Its form defied the laws of nature, a testament to its otherworldly power.
The fifth overlord, an ice giant, clutched a colossal ice sword in its hand. Its body was encased in a thick layer of ice armor, chilling the air around it as it exuded an aura of cold dominance.
Lastly, the final overlord, a lizardman with dark scales covering its body, stood as a menacing figure. Though it bore no weapon in hand, its presence exuded an air of malevolence and power.
Terry knew that this was the moment he had been preparing for. Despite the odds stacked against him and the overwhelming force before him, he was ready to face the overlords head-on, determined to prove that they had gravely underestimated the strength and resolve of their opponent.
"Come at me already, I don’t have all day," Terry said.
As the overlords laid eyes on Terry, a subtle but unmistakable confusion washed over their expressions. It was a perplexing sight, considering the meticulous planning that had led to this moment. It almost seemed as if they were encountering him for the first time, their initial confidence giving way to a degree of uncertainty.
Amidst this evident bewilderment, only one of the overlords, the golem, stepped forward to face Terry. Despite their imposing appearances, it was apparent that these overlords viewed Terry as a mere nuisance, not recognizing the true extent of his power. It was a grave underestimation that they would soon come to regret.
