"This guy probably won’t let me down," Terry thought.
In the end, Teddy also gave a prototype for Vanessa and Rebecca. They had the magic wands as well, but that also would increase their mobility and reaction speed; they needed to be careful since they won’t have a backup, after all.
Before arriving in Kansas City, Terry’s guild members, led by one of Vanessa’s skilled pilots, piloted the airplane to their destination. Surprisingly, nothing serious happened during their journey. They met with the local guild, crossed the portal, and swiftly dealt with the nearest goblin camp, where Vanessa’s power left the goblin champion shocked to death.
The group returned to the city, but there was no immediate activity from the portal, so they decided to dive back into the dungeon. They went on to destroy ten more goblin camps, tackling their hordes with skill and teamwork. The goblins were numerous, making it more of a challenge to deal with their sheer numbers than their individual strength.
However, the real breakthrough came when they stumbled upon a goblin city complete with a castle. Terry and his allies fought their way through the hordes, facing wave after wave of goblins until they finally reached the heart of the city: the goblin king. It was a hard-fought battle, but they managed to defeat him, bringing an end to his tyrannical rule.
As the goblin king fell, a surge of energy emanated from the portal, signaling that it was closing. Terry and his group knew that their efforts had paid off, and they could feel a sense of accomplishment as the portal began to shrink.
The journey was challenging, but the rewards were worth it. They had made the world a safer place by closing one of the portals, and Terry couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride in what they had achieved.
"Do you think that it was a coincidence that we appeared in that city after destroying ten camps of goblins?" Rebecca asked.
"No... that must be the key to finding the overlords if they are hiding," Terry replied. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"That makes sense... no sand guild would think of clearing the dungeon ten times in a day, after all," Vanessa added. "We cleared the dungeon dozens of times, but we never found a monster like an overlord that is dozens of times stronger than the small fries."
Terry couldn’t help but think about the battle against the mechanical warrior in the throne room. The fearsome appearance of the enemy had initially left them on edge. Still, as they engaged in battle, it became apparent that the mechanical warrior was not as formidable as they had feared. Despite its imposing presence, it seemed more like a low-level boss or a leader of a tribe rather than a true overlord.
After returning from their successful mission, Terry’s group presented their report to the other guild masters, who looked both surprised and puzzled by their achievement. Clearing a dungeon ten times in a single day was a feat that no one else had attempted, let alone accomplished. The other guild masters listened attentively as Terry explained their strategy and how they managed to achieve such a remarkable feat.
Some of them expressed admiration for their dedication and skill. In contrast, others seemed slightly skeptical, wondering if there was more to the story than what was being shared. Nevertheless, they couldn’t deny the results, and Terry’s group had proven their capabilities.
"We should confirm this as soon as possible," Hector said. "The spearman that joined them in the mission to Canada. "We apologize for asking you all of this, but we need to make you do the same in another dungeon. Our country has other dungeon goblins, so we should choose one of those."
As the guild masters gathered to discuss their recent missions, they were surprised to discover that closing one portal did not have the desired effect of closing all the others connected to the same world. This revelation shook their previous assumptions, and they realized that they could only close one portal at a time.
The implications of this newfound understanding were significant and posed a challenging dilemma. With numerous portals scattered across different worlds, the task of sealing them all seemed daunting. They couldn’t afford to split their forces and close multiple portals simultaneously, as the overlords behind these gates could prove too formidable for isolated groups.
This information brought about a change in their strategy, requiring a more focused and coordinated effort to target and neutralize the overlords one by one. It highlighted the importance of choosing their battles wisely and prioritizing which portals to address first.
Three days later, the group went to another goblins dungeon and confirmed that the same thing happened. After clearing the dungeon ten times, on the eleventh time, they showed up in the middle of a city of goblins. That one had a bunch of goblin archers, so it was a bit more difficult for them to deal with them.
"We are getting some answers, but things are getting more bleak with every passing moment," Vanessa said while they were heading home on the airplane. "I wonder what the guild masters will think after hearing this since this mission was crazy."
