The realization hit the overlord too late. Terry unleashed a powerful burst of energy, a mana cannon aimed directly at the overlord. The blast struck with immense force, overwhelming the weakened overlord and sending it flying backward. The creature’s form contorted and twisted as the impact ravaged its body.

"I only used your mana, retard," Terry said.

The colossal Mana Cannon streaked across the sky, its immense size and power felt even from dozens of kilometers away. Terry’s desperate gamble had paid off, but the force of the explosion was far greater than he had anticipated. He could feel the shockwaves of his own attack resonating through the air, an unsettling reminder of the sheer might he had wielded.

As the dust and debris cleared, a sense of relief washed over Terry. The overlord had been defeated, its reign of terror finally brought to an end. He could sense the energy of the enemy dissipating, and his armor, once weakened, began to feel stronger. Terry knew that the threat had been eliminated, even if it had come at a tremendous cost.

Terry’s eyes opened, and he found himself staring up at the starry expanse of Earth’s sky. The familiar constellations above provided a comforting backdrop, a stark contrast to the chaotic battle he had just fought. Pushing himself up, Terry took stock of his body. The pain was still present, but it was less intense than before. Healing magic had done its work, repairing his wounds and knitting together his battered form.

With a sigh of relief, Terry realized that he had survived. The portal had closed, leaving him back on his home planet. He gazed at the stars, a mixture of emotions swirling within him. As Terry slowly sat up, he knew that the fight was over, but the aftermath was just beginning. The scars, both visible and hidden, would serve as a reminder of the struggles he had endured.

"You are up, you gave us quite the scare," Gustavo said and then Terry looked to the side and saw him.

Terry looked to the side and then saw Gustavo and the others a bit further sleeping on Improved tents. They were in the area where the portal once had been... Rebecca, Vanessa and Fernanda were sleeping. It was only natural since that fight had been too tiresome.

"It seems that we managed to escape somehow," Terry said.

"You almost sound disappointed," Gustavo said while furrowing his eyebrows.

Terry sat there, gazing up at the stars, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions. The exhaustion that seeped through his body was more than just physical; it was a weariness that penetrated his very soul. Another crazy battle, another life-threatening situation. He wasn’t a stranger to danger, but the continuous onslaught of near-death experiences was taking its toll on him.

As he pondered his feelings, Terry acknowledged that he wasn’t quite as bothered by the prospect of death as he should be. It wasn’t that he was weak-minded or lacked a survival instinct. No, it was the weight of everything that had transpired, the magnitude of the battles, and the knowledge that the lives of those around him hung in the balance.

The desire for revenge against the monsters, for justice for all those who had suffered, had been a driving force for Terry. But he was beginning to realize that it wasn’t enough to sustain him indefinitely. The fire that had burned so brightly within him was dimming, smothered by the overwhelming odds stacked against them. "Still, I think I understand your feelings... we were faced to endure and survive overwhelming odds, but it doesn’t felt like we quite won," Gustavo said while looking at the sky. "We defeated an enemy, but we lost ten powerful comrades... we won the battle, but we are losing the war."

"Something like that," Terry said and then shrugged.

"Are all the fights like this one?" Gustavo asked. "If they are, I don’t think that human race will last for a week if a monster that powerful come to this side of the portal."

"This is the fourth that we faced that was a real pain in the ass to kill," Terry replied. "The others can be dealt with by someone of your level."

"That didn’t sound like a compliment," Gustavo said and laughed a bit. "I was able to fight alongside you guys, but only because I had the mana that I gained from my friends, your power suit is quite something. Still, I wonder if I should keep using the crystal... after seeing what the enemies can become... it is quite hard to do so."
