In the next moment, after noticing that their left side was exposed, Rebecca fired wind arrows at the ears of those three. Her aim was superb... even though she took a short while to fire the second due to the surprise and excitement of finally using magic.
"I told her to kill one, but... this might do," Terry thought.
The enemies were surprised by the wind arrows, so they didn't know how to react. They couldn't see another enemy, after all. That raised some questions... how come monsters appear in larger groups without knowing that they are heading to larger groups?
Terry forgot about that and then jumped to attack one of the giants. The creature reacted and moved both arms to stop the attack, but Terry's spear pierced through one of them and the skull of the beast before reaching the brain.
Long Spear - Lv 14 (13/150 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 30
Defense: 15
Durability: 26/30
(Critical: increases the chances of causing critical damage when hitting the enemy.)
(Spear Mastery: increases your attack power by ten percent.)
It was no surprise that the monster was unable to repel the attack... nevertheless, as soon as he landed, Terry saw a large leg moving toward him. He moved the spear to the side and blocked the attack... despite the large mass of the creature and the power of that kick, Terry had only pushed away for a meter.
While the enemy showed some surprise, Terry pushed away the enemy's leg, and when the beast lost its balance, Terry jumped to attack again. This time, the creature tried to protect its head by putting one arm in front of the other, but Terry just thrust his spear at the enemy's heart. While he felt some resistance due to the muscles, fat, and bones, the weapon reached the enemy's heart.
Before the second giant could even fall, the third kicked its back and tried to crush Terry with the falling body. Terry blocked the body with his spear and pushed it away, only to see the final enemy almost landing on him... he had jumped and tried to smash him.
Terry jumped backward and slashed the enemy's stomach with his spear. Terry avoided the bit, but the impact still made him lose his balance. Fortunately, the wound inflicted on the enemy prevented the beast from following the attack... the creature just saw blood leaving the wound while the pain annoyed the beast...
When Terry got up, he saw the beast charging at him, but he just threw the spear at its face... before the monster could move its arms, the weapon pierced its skull deeply...
Fire Crossbow Lv 04 (33/50 EXP) (Common)
Magic Power: 10
Cost: 05 MP
Durability: 14/14
"Not yet, huh," Terry said when he checked his crossbow. "It is a pain to have so little mana."
"Sorry, I acted without thinking and assumed that it would be better to wound all of them," Rebecca replied. "So, these are the giants, huh... the magic types would have a hard dealing with them directly. Even people like you who have high physical capabilities must find them annoying since you have to jump high to reach them."
"You know it," Terry said. "Well, let's get the magic stones... keep wounding them the way you see fit, but you should understand that one magic stone only charges the wind wand for two spells."
"Woah... wasting money to gain less money..." Rebecca facepalmed.
They wouldn't be able to move the bodies in order to surprise the next few enemies, so Terry decided to advance a little after getting the magic stones. Once they began to wait for the enemies, Terry thought that it would be a wise idea to make Rebecca learn Mana Manipulation. While it was a useful Skill book since it would let her charge magic items with her mana, it wasn't that much popular since the really good mages didn't have to rely on magical items.
While Terry was thinking about that, Rebecca pointed her hand in a slightly different direction than they were expecting the other monsters to come from. They were around two hundred meters away from the portal, so it seemed that her senses were working now...
Eventually, the creatures showed up, and they assumed their positions. It seemed that they were being drawn by the smell of blood, so they passed by Terry and Rebecca without noticing their presence... that raised even more questions since it seemed that some monsters could feel their smell. Regardless, they used that golden chance to wipe them out quickly with a surprise attack on their back.
Rebecca sniped and killed one of them with two wind Arrows on their back while Terry threw his spear at the nape of one of them. The third one didn't even pose a challenge to Terry at close range...
"I thought that basic spells like these are a lot weaker... where did you find this magic wand?" Rebecca asked.
"It is a long and boring story," Terry said and began to work on taking the magic stones. "And we should focus on the task ahead of us."
In the end, Terry could already fight on par with the giants on his second day. Two vs. one battle were still a bit difficult. Still, he decided to get experience for that later... it was better to focus on getting the money to buy some other magic items or find them near one of the enemy camps. During that day, Terry leveled up the crossbow and had a pleasant surprise.
