The next day, Kiana woke up earlier than usual. The sun barely peeked over the horizon, and yet, her eyes fluttered open, gleaming with excitement. It was her very first camping trip with her parents!

A small giggle escaped her mouth as she looked at her parents on either side, they were still asleep unlike her. She sat up on her knees and jumped on her Daddy first.

"Wake up, wake up! It’s camping day!" she squealed, tugging at the blankets that barely covered Zevian.

Zevian let out a groan, slowly sitting up and rubbing his eyes. Evelyn, already halfway awake at the noise, smiled at their daughter’s enthusiasm.

"Good morning, sweetie," Evelyn murmured, sitting up. She opened her arms and Kiana hugged her immediately, bringing a warm smile at her face.

"Good morning, Mommy!" Kiana replied, squeezing Evelyn in a tight hug. Quickly kissing her forehead, she got up and started bouncing on the bed with excitement. "Come on, get up! We have to get ready! I wanna go camping now!"

Zevian smiled at their excitement. "Alright. Let’s go get ready."

Kiana scrambled out of Kiana’s arms, rushing toward her room to get dressed. By the time Zevian and Evelyn made it to the living room, Kiana was already there, dressed in a cute denim dungaree and a pink shirt. Her hair was tied into two neat pigtails, bouncing with each step she took.

"Ta-da!" Kiana announced, twirling in place to show off the outfit that Agatha had picked up for her. "Do I look like a camper?"

Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh as she walked over and knelt to adjust Kiana’s hair. "You look perfect, sweetie. But how about we all match today?"

Kiana’s eyes lit up at the suggestion and she nodded. "Yes! Let’s all wear the same!"

With matching outfits in mind, Zevian pulled on a pair of jeans and a light blue shirt, while Evelyn opted for a similar look, tying her hair into a loose ponytail. As they made their way downstairs, the trio looked like a picture-perfect family, all dressed in their twinning outfits.

Just as they were about to sit down for breakfast, Avery came down the stairs, yawning and stretching as she made her way into the living room.

Her eyes widened as she took in the sight of the three of them, matching from head to toe. "Woah, are all of you going somewhere?" she asked, a playful grin on her face as she plopped down on the couch.

Kiana, unable to contain her excitement, nodded vigorously. "We’re going camping, Aunt Avy!"

The maids entered the room, placing Avery’s morning coffee in front of her as she raised an eyebrow in amusement. "Camping, huh? Sounds fun. I should join you guys!"

Kiana’s eyes widened in surprise, and she quickly shook her head. "No, Aunt Avy! It’s a family trip! You’d be a third wheel!"

Avery almost spat her coffee at the little girl’s bold words. She set her cup down with a shocked expression, her eyes narrowing playfully at Kiana. "You little devil! I hate that I taught you those words!"

Kiana giggled while wiping her mustache, while Evelyn pressed her lips together.

With a dramatic huff, Avery crossed her arms. "Well, even if you invited me, I couldn’t come anyway. I have too much work to do. My company’s anniversary is coming up soon, and unlike my employee here—" she cast a teasing glance at Evelyn, "—I can’t pretend to be hurt and laze around."

Evelyn rolled her eyes, choosing to ignore Avery’s jab as she focused on helping Kiana finish her milkshake.

Once breakfast was done, they all walked outside to find John waiting for them with a mini-van, already set for the trip. He gave a small salute as they approached, opening the doors to let them in.

"Everything’s ready, sir," John said, nodding towards the van.

Kiana clapped her hands together excitedly, hopping into the back seat with Evelyn following behind her. Zevian gave John a grateful nod before getting into the backseat. As they pulled out of the driveway, Avery stood at the doorway, waving goodbye.

"Enjoy yourselves!" Avery called out and as they exited the gates, she sighed. "I hope there’s no disaster to ruin your perfect family trip."

Evelyn smiled as they drove away, the sound of Kiana’s giggles filling the van. The drive to the campsite was filled with excitement as Kiana talked non-stop about all the things she wanted to do—fishing, roasting marshmallows, and telling stories by the campfire.

After a short drive, they arrived at a serene lake surrounded by trees. The water sparkled under the sunlight, and a few other couples were already setting up their camps nearby. The place was peaceful, with a gentle breeze blowing across the field, carrying the scent of fresh pine.

"Wow," Kiana gasped as she jumped out of the van, her eyes wide with wonder. "This is beautiful!"

Evelyn smiled, holding out her hand for Kiana to take. "Come on, let’s pick our spot."

With a gleeful nod, Kiana grabbed her mother’s hand, and the two of them ran across the field, giggling as they picked up a spot to camp. Zevian stood by the van, watching them with a soft smile before turning to get the camping gear out.

John quickly approached, offering to help. "Boss, let me handle this."

Zevian shook his head, waving him off. "No need, John. We’ll do it together."

John hesitated for a moment but eventually nodded, and the two men began setting up the tent. Evelyn and Kiana watched from their chairs, both of them impressed by how quickly the tent was coming together.

"They’re doing such a good job," Evelyn remarked, her arm wrapped around Kiana’s shoulders.

"They look like superheroes!" Kiana chimed in, her eyes sparkling with admiration.

Once the tent was up, John brought out the grill and the campfire supplies. Kiana clapped her hands excitedly as everything was arranged, her energy seemingly endless. John suggested they try fishing, mentioning that there was a fishing spot nearby.

"I’ve been here a few times with my wife and son," John explained. "It’s a great spot. Would you like to give it a try?"

Kiana’s eyes lit up. "Yes! Let’s go fishing!"

Evelyn and Zevian exchanged glances, following their daughter as she practically skipped ahead of them toward the fishing spot. When they arrived, John went to a nearby store to get the fishing gear, and soon enough, Kiana was holding her very own fishing rod, ready to make her first catch.

John showed her how to cast the line, patiently guiding her through the process. Kiana was determined, her little brows furrowed in concentration as she threw the line into the water. "I’m going to catch the biggest fish!" she declared, her competitive spirit shining through.

Evelyn laughed, joining Zevian’s side. "We will see about that."

As they all settled into fishing, the quiet atmosphere was suddenly interrupted by Kiana’s excited squeal. "I caught something! I caught something big!" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

John stepped forward, ready to assist. "Let me help, Miss."

Kiana eagerly passed the rod to John, and everyone gathered around, holding their breath in anticipation. But as John pulled the line, the "catch" turned out to be a worn-out old croc.

Evelyn burst into laughter, clutching her stomach as Kiana pouted. "That’s not a fish!" The little girl exclaimed, looking at the shoe.

John smiled kindly, patting Kiana’s head. "Don’t be disappointed, Miss. Let’s try again."

This time, Kiana’s patience paid off, and soon enough, she caught her first real fish. Her excitement knew no bounds as she jumped up and down, holding the small fish in her hands. "I did it! I caught a fish!"

Evelyn and Zevian couldn’t have been prouder, their hearts swelling with joy at their daughter’s happiness. After a few more successful catches, John took the fish to the nearby store to get them cleaned, while the family returned to the campsite to set up the campfire.

Zevian worked on roasting the fish while Kiana and Evelyn played a few camping games nearby. The smell of grilled food filled the air, making Kiana’s stomach growl in anticipation. Even Evelyn’s eyes lit up as the aroma wafted towards her.

Once lunch was ready, they all gathered around the fire, enjoying the meal together. The day passed by in a blur of laughter, games, and warm moments until, by evening, Kiana had fallen asleep in Evelyn’s lap, completely worn out from all the fun.

Zevian gently scooped her up, carrying her to the van where he laid her down, covering her with a soft blanket. When he returned, Evelyn rested her head on his shoulder, the two of them watching the sunset over the lake.

"This was perfect," Evelyn whispered, her voice filled with contentment.

Zevian smiled, kissing the top of her head. "It really was."

"Let’s do this often," Evelyn said softly, snuggling closer to him. "Maybe we can camp at night in the backyard. Kiana would love it."

Zevian nodded in response, a smile spread across his lips. They watched the sun dip below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the lake. Today had been everything Evelyn hoped for and more, a day of love, laughter, and precious memories they would cherish forever.

And just as she thought to end on a peaceful note, Zevian’s phone suddenly rang. It was Natalie and they both sat straight. Zevian picked it up and put it on speaker.

"Let’s have dinner together, tonight. I have something tell you all." Natalie said from the other end, her words making them worry.
