Zevian’s eyes widened as Evelyn yanked him closer, her lips capturing his in a sweet yet electrifying kiss. His grip tightened on her waist, fingers digging into her top as heat flared between them.

Evelyn pulled back slightly after a small peck, her eyes fluttering open to meet his gaze. For a split second, time seemed to stop—emotions swirling in their eyes, too strong to ignore.

"You said you wanted to take me out tonight," Evelyn murmured, looking up at him with her chin resting on his chest. Zevian smiled slightly and adjusted her bangs, nodding.

"Let’s postpone it! I promised to make dinner with Kiana today," Evelyn added with a small pout. The sweet surprise he had given her earlier had already made her day, and she needed to spend some time with her daughter too.

"Alright. I have a meeting with the west branch anyway," Zevian replied, checking his watch. He had planned to cancel it after confirming their date, but now he could attend without guilt.

Evelyn smiled in response but realized something important. She sprang up from his lap, catching Zevian off guard. She darted toward the cupboard, opened their hidden locker, and pulled out a thick file. Zevian raised an eyebrow, confused by her actions.

"What’s that?" he asked, sitting up straight.

"Our marriage contract!" Evelyn replied as she flipped through the file and pulled out two identical copies. She grabbed two pens from the desk and handed him one. "I’m making some changes—crazy changes—so all those morons can stop testing my patience." She grumbled, Catherine’s clown face flashing in front of her.

Zevian watching in amusement, broke into a chuckle when Evelyn aggressively scratched out the term One-Year Agreement and replaced it with Lifetime Agreement, her frustration almost palpable.

"Lifetime is a bit much, don’t you think?" Zevian teased, unable to suppress a smile.

Evelyn shot him a mock glare and stared at the paper again. Without hesitation, she crossed out Lifetime and boldly wrote Eternity in its place. Zevian chuckled again, both amused and charmed by her sudden actions.

"Write it down!" Evelyn demanded, her eyes burning with determination.

Still smiling, Zevian scratched out the word "One-Year" on his own contract and wrote "Eternity" beneath it, as per her request.

"Feeling better now?" Zevian asked, his voice softening.

Evelyn, not entirely satisfied, stared at the contract and nodded determinedly. "Actually, you know what? Let’s print these edited versions and sign them again," she said, a smirk forming on her lips.

Zevian shook his head, utterly bemused. There was something hilarious yet strangely comforting about seeing his wife this fierce, this possessive. Her need to claim him as hers forever was as adorable as it was intense. And how could he resist when she looked at him like that?

He smiled in defeat. "Alright," he said, finally giving in, which brought an even bigger smile to her lips.

Evelyn beamed as she glanced at the newly revised "Eternal Agreement" contract, feeling an immense satisfaction bubbling up inside her. No one could mock their bond now. She knew it was childish of her to act so irrationally, but she didn’t give a damn.

"So, I need to tolerate you for eternity now?" Zevian teased, glancing down at the revised contract in his hand.

Evelyn turned to him, crossing her arms with a frown. "Why do you sound disappointed about that?"

Zevian dragged his response out, biting back a grin. "Well, it’s just—"

"What?" Evelyn narrowed her eyes, inching closer as her irritation bubbled up again. Zevian shrugged nonchalantly, which only made her scowl deepen. "There’s no backing out now, Mr. Reign. You already signed it, see?" She shoved his contract in his face, pointing to his signature.

"My bad luck," Zevian murmured, clicking his tongue in regret.

Evelyn scoffed out loud, though she knew he was just trying to get under her skin. Without thinking, she grabbed a pillow beside her and thwacked him on the shoulder. "Deal with it then!" she grumbled, hitting him again.

Zevian winced, grabbing a nearby pillow to defend himself. Before they knew it, their laughter filled the room as they playfully batted at each other with the pillows, both completely lost in their own little world of happiness. For a moment, it was just the two of them—no worries, no chaos—just pure joy and laughter.

But far from their lighthearted bliss, the atmosphere in Damien’s dungeon was anything but joyful.

Damien glared at the DNA results on the screen in front of him, his brows furrowed in frustration. His normally calm and calculating demeanor had cracked as his mind tried to process the information mocking him down. The DNA results for William, Annabelle, and Evelyn had thrown everyone into disarray.

"You’re absolutely sure they didn’t mess up?" Damien asked coldly, his eyes narrowing as he addressed his trembling assistant. His laboratory which was always quick had taken over a week for these tests, the results explaining why.

"They’ve tested it multiple times since your expectations were different, boss," the assistant stammered, his voice shaking. "It’s not a mistake. They used all the samples—blood, hair, and others—but the results kept coming back the same."

Damien clenched his jaw, his hand tightening around the tablet until his knuckles turned white. The truth glaring at him from the screen was a fact, but digesting it was just impossible. He threw the tablet on the table in front of him, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
