Evelyn tried to wiggle out from beneath Zevian, but the soapy floor betrayed her, causing her to slip again. Her movements, though innocent, were making the situation much more complicated. Each attempt to shift only made her more aware of Zevian’s proximity, and suddenly, she felt something firm poking against her lower waist.

Her eyes widened in realization, her breath catching in her throat. The sensation was impossible to ignore, and a flush of heat crept up her neck, spreading across her cheeks. The teasing nature of their position wasn’t lost on her, and she stifled a nervous laugh, trying not to make things even more awkward.

"Evelyn, stop moving," Zevian warned, his voice a husky murmur. He was clearly just as flustered, trying to keep his composure while his body responded in ways that were out of his control. The tension between them was palpable, a mix of embarrassment and something much deeper, more intimate.

Evelyn froze, biting her lower lip to control herself. Zevian took a deep breath, gathering himself before carefully pushing himself up, finally breaking the contact. He extended a hand to help her up, his touch lingering a little longer than necessary. His grip was firm yet gentle, and as their hands brushed, a spark of electricity passed between them.

As Evelyn stood, she felt the heat in her cheeks intensify. The air around them was charged with an awkward, shy energy. Despite the mess they were in, there was something undeniably adorable about how both of them were so flustered. She couldn’t help but glance up at Zevian, her eyes catching his. For a moment, neither of them spoke, both lost in the silent exchange that said more than words ever could.

Zevian finally cleared his throat, breaking the tension. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft and full of concern.

Evelyn nodded, her voice barely above a whisper. "I’m fine, just... a little slippery."

Zevian’s lips twitched as if he were holding back a smile. "You always manage to find yourself in the most interesting situations," he teased, his tone light, though his eyes held a depth of emotion that sent a flutter through her heart.

Before Evelyn could respond, the kitchen door swung open, and Avery walked in, her eyes widening at the sight of the kitchen disaster. The soapy water, broken eggs, and the two of them looking utterly disheveled made for quite a scene.

"What happened here?" Avery asked, her tone a mix of confusion and concern as she took in the mess.

Zevian opened his mouth to explain, but before he could, Avery shook her head. "Forget it," she said, waving her hand dismissively. "I’ve got something more important to tell you. Mr. Igor is coming to Valeria tomorrow."

The announcement hit Zevian like a ton of bricks. His playful demeanor vanished, replaced by a steely resolve as he instinctively moved closer to Evelyn, protectively. The news was unexpected, and the implications were serious. Mr. Igor was a formidable figure, and his sudden arrival could only mean something significant was about to happen.

Evelyn’s eyes widened in surprise, and she turned to Zevian, noting the sudden tension in his posture. "Mr. Igor?"

Avery nodded and clinging to her best friend’s arm, she showed her the message. "Yes! He wants to personally work here with you on the designs. There’s a whole ton of work we need to prepare before his arrival."

The anxious CEO of AWE interiors looked at her phone and cried, "Oh my god! We have only 18 freaking hours left before his arrival!" Holding Evelyn’s arm, she murmured, "Let’s hurry, Evy! We need to pull an all-nighter again!"

"Give me a minute," Evelyn said, removing Avery’s hand around her. This idiot had ruined their special cooking time and Zevian at least deserved a good night after hearing the most shocking news.

Evelyn walked back to the Kitchen to see Zevian cursing something under his breath. An idea popped in her head, and hiding her smirk, she walked to him.

"I guess we’ll have to postpone our shopping trip," she said casually, keeping her face neutral. "I’ll be busy with Mr. Igor tomorrow, attending to projects and welcoming him."

Evelyn pressed her lips together and wished him, "Good Night." Turning around, she lightly chuckled before joining Avery in their room.

The next day, the atmosphere in Zevian’s office was icy, much like the air conditioning that kept the top floor of Reign Corporation cool. He had been in a foul mood all morning, rejecting file after file, circling mistakes in red pen with an impatience that had everyone on edge.

"Do I have to teach you to even make a simple presentation?"

"Are we building a toy house for kids? How the hell did you put this sloppy design on my table!"

"Do I pay you guys for this kind of shit? You call this an analysis report?"

"What the hell is wrong with you guys today?"

Zevian’s every word sent his staff out in tears. They knew something was terribly off and hoped for some angel to save them from this raging devil.

Brandon, ever observant, noticed the shift in his boss’s demeanor. He hesitated before approaching Zevian’s desk, hoping to inquire about what was wrong.

Leaving his life in the hands of his favorite god, he asked, "Did you fight with Ma’am, Sir?"

However, the icy glare that met him when he opened his mouth made him think better of it. With a nervous swallow, he quickly turned on his heel and exited the office, not wanting to push his luck.

Zevian’s frustration grew even more, his eyes checking on his phone every now and then. Should I call her? Or should I just go to her office? He shook his head, finding himself losing control. Evelyn would be busy and he shouldn’t disturb her. He sighed heavily, hoping for the day to pass quickly so he could meet again.

But just a few minutes later, Brandon burst back into the office without knocking, a tablet clutched in his hand, his expression frantic. "Boss! Boss! Mr. Igor is proposing to your wife!! At the airport, in front of a huge crowd!"

Zevian’s expression darkened instantly, his eyes narrowing to dangerous slits. He snatched the tablet from Brandon, his anger escalating as he watched the scene unfold on the screen. There, in the middle of the bustling airport, was a well-dressed man in a striking red suit, kneeling on one knee with a fucking bouquet in his hand. Right in front of his Eva!

A low growl rumbled in Zevian’s chest as his mind raced. His jaw clenched, and his grip tightened on the tablet, the thought of another man even thinking about proposing to Evelyn was enough to set his blood boiling.

The image of that man kneeling before Evelyn was burned into his mind, and as the screen went black, Zevian’s fury only grew. His hand hovered over his phone, his thoughts racing between storming the airport and dragging that bouquet from the man’s hands.

The sound of the tablet hitting the desk echoed through the room as Zevian rose from his chair, his mind already strategizing his next move. Brandon, sensing the brewing storm, took a cautious step back.

"Prepare the car," Zevian ordered, his voice dangerously calm. "We’re going to the airport."

Brandon nodded, quickly exiting the office to carry out the orders. Zevian’s thoughts were a whirlwind of anger and determination as he grabbed his jacket and headed for the door. There was no way he was going to let this idiot get away with such a public display. Not with his wife involved!

As Zevian made his way to the elevator, his mind replayed the scene from the picture over and over again, causing him to hit the lift’s wall terrifying his poor little assistant.
