Evelyn gasped, her eyes wide with shock. Her world started spinning, Mariam’s words causing her vision to get blurry with tears. Could it be true? Could her mother, Gracia, was still alive? Could she be finally released from the sins of killing her?

"What do you mean?!" Damien glowered, taking a step forward and looming over the petite women. His eyes grew dangerously dark, their anger making both Reema and Mariam flinch in fear.

"Sh-she is just babbling. Don’t mind her words," Reema stammered, clutching onto her mom firmly who was trembling under Damien’s intimidating presence.

"Don’t lie to me!" Damien warned, taking a step forward and forcing both the women to stumble backward.

"Wh-why would I lie about it? She has a serious illness and acts like this every day. And you just triggered her worst memory." Reema retorted, tears trickling down her eyes.

"Did Cecil come home?" Mariam murmured, looking out at the entrance of their small house. When Reema didn’t respond, she continued, "It’s raining outside, let’s go pick him up."

"See! She thinks her son is still alive and six years old," Reema grumbled, staring at Damien and then at Evelyn, pleading to help her out of this man’s eyes.

"Cecil must be drenching! Let’s go pick him up!" Mariam commented, her voice full of worry and her eyes fixed on her crying daughter.

Reema wiped away her tears and nodded to her mother. "Okay, Let’s put the raincoat first," she said and directed Mariam back to her room. Coaxing her to lay on the bed and sleep, she returned, flinching when Damien took a step forward again, ready to investigate in his own twisted way.

"What would I get from lying? I could have stayed silent or worse spewed some shitty story, but I decided to tell you the truth as my mom felt dearly for you." Mariam started, looking in Evelyn’s direction.

"Yo-you can’t treat me like this after helping you, Ms. Evelyn. Please leave us alone!"

Evelyn sighed softly, her body lightly trembling, the tears she had been trying to hold slowly trickling out of her eyes. Clutching the letter tightly, she murmured, "Thanks for being honest with me, Ms. Reema. I will be forever grateful for it."

Damien wanted to retort, to stay back and finish this now and all but he could understand Evelyn’s emotion. There were other ways to confirm if this woman was telling the truth and he wouldn’t stop until he found it himself.

"Let’s go," Evelyn murmured, biting the inner of her lips to hold back her tears. Zevian nodded and quickly helped her stand up, slightly bowing to Reema as they walked out.

"Thanks a lot, Mr. Reema. And sorry for the trouble." Avery said, bowing apologetically to the elder woman. She turned around to glare at the mob and grabbing his arm, she dragged him out, "Let’s go."

Reema let out a heavy sigh as they walked out, the door clicking shut behind Damien. Reaching for the water, she gulped down quickly, her fingers trembling wearily. "God, please forgive me!" She murmured, clasping her hand and looking up, praying to the heavens to forgive her sins and save her.

"What the hell was that? You were almost set to kill them!" Avery grumbled as they stepped onto the streets. Damien only huffed out loud and walked toward his car, Griffin following behind closely and noting down his new orders.

Zevian wrapped his arm around Evelyn’s shoulder, his heart clenching to see her so blank and numb. She had always been strong, set to face whatever problem came her way, but this was just too much for her heart to be brave and accept it.

Avery also felt really sad to see Evelyn in such a state. Her poor Evy had always been in search of paternal love since Gracia’s death, doing everything since the age of six to win over her father, to make that rock move and finally forgive her. But it seemed impossible now, for Evelyn to even face him.

But why did William hide this from Evelyn? No one could understand it and Avery guessed it must be because of Charlotte’s will, writing half of her wealth to her granddaughter. He might have been afraid Evelyn would run away with it if ever came across this truth.

"I will come with you guys!" Avery declared as soon as they reached their cars. She glared at Damien who had opened the car door for her and simply went to sit in Zevian’s car. She wasn’t in the mood to fight anyone now.

"I will call you," Zevian said to his friend, and Damien with a nod, quickly left ahead. No one could stop him when he was set on something and Zevian only hoped whatever he dug up wouldn’t hurt his Eva more.

Evelyn sat inside the car with Zevian right beside her while Avery settled in the shotgun seat. John looked worriedly through the rear-view mirror, having never seen Evelyn so miserable. Pursing his lips, he started the car hoping for the heavens to give her strength to quickly pass through this rough patch.

The ride back to the house was quick, filled with nothing but eerie silence. Evelyn settled close to the window, watching the trees and buildings pass, leaving everyone worried about what she had been thinking so hard.

Evelyn walked to their room and Zevian followed her, having no intentions of leaving her alone. Placing the letter on the table in front of the couch, Evelyn sighed out loud and murmured, "I am going to take a shower."

"Eva..." Zevian called her out, his voice was soft and tinged with a bit of sadness. When Evelyn turned around, he held onto her hand and softly pulled her into a hug.

Evelyn’s walls slowly started crumbling, the way his hand caressed her head making it hard to hold back her tears. "Don’t hold it back." He mumbled as if he could see through her soul. And that one sentence was all it took for Evelyn’s heart to ache, the lump in her throat coming out in small, squeaky sobs.

Zevian wrapped his arm around her tightly, his gentle rubs on her back soothing the wounds that were opened today again, only to be worsened to more painful. Evelyn clutched onto his shirt tightly, her tears flowing out freely on his chest.

"I don’t know what to do," Evelyn mumbled between her cries, her mind heavy with all the shitty thoughts. And she seriously had no clue what to do, whom to apologize or how to face William anymore. She had been able to do it because she thought he was her father and she had all the right to be with him. But now, everything seemed only messier.

Zevian caressed her head and replied, "We will figure it out together." His words, the warmth of his hug everything slowly ate the demons inside Evelyn, pushed away all the burden she felt until now.

Slowly, after a few moments, her cries stopped and she sniffled, snuggling against his chest, hugging him tightly. Zevian also didn’t let her go and they stayed in each other’s embrace for a while before Evelyn asked for some water.

Zevian helped her sit on the couch and got her some water from the nightstand and tissues. Evelyn accepted the tissues and wiped her face, before drinking up the water.

"Thank you," Evelyn murmured, placing back the glass.

"Well, just a thank you isn’t enough," Zevian replied, adjusting her bangs with a subtle smirk.

Evelyn broke into a small, dialogue being usually hers when they used to date. "What do you want?" She asked, turning to him.

"Take me on a date," Zevian replied without a bit of hesitance. Evelyn broke into a chuckle, realizing he was just imitating her old silly self and it sounded like an escape so she nodded, bringing a smile to her husband’s face.

While back in the Wright Mansion, Annabelle fidgeted with the lace of her night dress, Sophia’s stare breaking her back into thin sweat.

Sophia sipped her tea, her eyes fixed on the pawn that had now become a prick in her way. William was so excited that he was becoming a granddad that he instantly agreed to his sweet Anna’s marriage with Vincent, not even giving a fuck to what she had to say about this matter.

Not that it mattered if this con artist became that falling family’s daughter-in-law. But she knew Annabelle was a bitch, just like her, and she couldn’t have her around for a longer time.

"Get ready to abort the baby and go back to your city," Sophia ordered, placing down the cup.

Annabelle gritted her teeth, having expected Sophia to react in this way. But she wasn’t settling for something low, not when there was a bigger opportunity for forever becoming a part of this world of elites.

"I will convince Evelyn to sign the papers and hand over everything to your son." Annabelle offered a deal, quite sure Sophia would be tempted to consider it and delay whatever wrath she had prepared for her and the baby.

But when Sophia’s expression didn’t change, Annabelle pleaded, "Just let me carry this baby and marry Vincent, please!"

Sophia broke into a smile, before cackling out loud at her foolishness. "You don’t need to worry about Evelyn anymore. She will now be set to give up herself."

"What?" Annabelle frowned, her words making no sense.

"Just get ready to abort the baby tomorrow. You will fly back in the afternoon," Sophia replied in a serious tone. Getting up, she walked and stopped right beside Annabelle, her hand clutching her shoulder tightly.

Leaning down, Sophia whispered, "Try anything funny if you wish to die with that wedlock in your belly." Annabelle turned around in shock, meeting her hears in horror. With a smile, Sophia added, "After all, getting rid of an orphan is as easy as killing a rat."
