Sabrina, her face flushed with rage, glared at the couple. Her hands clenched into fists, knuckles white, as she spat out, "This isn’t over yet. I will make sure to take Kiana away."

Evelyn replied nonchalantly, "Good luck with that." Avery almost snorted, barely containing her laughter.

Sabrina’s eyes blazed with fury, her breath coming in short, sharp bursts. She gritted her teeth, feeling everyone’s disdain, their judgment palpable. Glaring at Evelyn again she stormed out of the house, her lawyer scrambling to keep up.

"And John," Evelyn called out, her voice dripping with mockery, "make sure to put up a sign that says no dogs are allowed at the main gates. Some just love to barge in and bark loudly."

Avery burst into laughter, and even Zevian couldn’t suppress a smile, recognizing Evelyn’s imitation of his mother’s recent remark about Sophia.

John, missing the jest, nodded earnestly. "Yes, ma’am," he replied, heading out to fulfill her request. Sabrina, overhearing Evelyn’s parting shot, felt a fresh wave of anger surge through her. Her shoulders stiffened, and her pace quickened as she exited the house, her heels clicking sharply against the floor.

"You’ll pay for this," she muttered under her breath, her voice shaking with barely controlled fury as she stormed out.

As the tension eased in the room, Evelyn sighed in relief and turned to Zevian. "We did it!" she exclaimed, raising her hand for a high-five.

Zevian raised his hand but instead of clapping hers, he held it and pulled her closer. Evelyn gasped, feeling his strong arms envelop her in a warm tight hug.

"Thank you," Zevian murmured, his hand resting gently on the back of her head. He hadn’t expected her to take such a stand and was grateful for how well she managed the situation in his absence.

Evelyn smiled, hugging him back. If this had been six years ago when they were still dating, she might have teased him that a thank-you doesn’t sound sincere without a kiss. But now, she could definitely not try that, not with everyone watching them.

Avery, dumbly smiling at the couple’s sweet moment, heard a familiar voice. "See, marriage isn’t bad," Damien said, greeting her with a smile.

She turned, her smile quickly replaced by a scowl. "It won’t be if you marry the right person, not a pig," she replied, her words wiping the smirk off Damien’s face.

"Did you just call me a pig?" he grumbled, crossing his arms and glaring at her.

"No, I didn’t, but you just did," Avery replied, snickering before walking away, making sure to nudge his shoulder as she passed.

Damien scoffed, glaring at her retreating back. No matter what, he could never get along with this woman! And that made it even more thrilling to tease her.

Zevian broke the hug and excused himself to see off his lawyer and the prosecutor. Evelyn decided to check on Kiana, whom Agatha had taken to the dining hall. A smile spread across her lips as she saw Kiana happily munching on a sandwich.

"File a case in court, Mr. Reign," the prosecutor advised. "They will throw all sorts of accusations at you, and this could go in circles before you gain custody of your daughter."

Zevian nodded, grateful for his help. "Thank you for coming on such short notice. Judge Molvoy speaks highly of you," he said, shaking the man’s hand firmly.

Meanwhile, Evelyn reached the dining table and took a seat beside the little girl. "Do you like it, baby?" she asked warmly. Avery also walked to them, standing behind Kiana’s chair with a smile.

"Yes!" Kiana nodded enthusiastically but quickly changed her expression to one of seriousness, her little brows furrowing.

"What’s wrong?" Evelyn asked, concern lacing her voice.

"Tell Mommy I am not talking to her, hmph!" Kiana said to Agatha, placing down her sandwich and crossing her arms defiantly as she put down the sandwich.

"Why? Did I do something wrong?" Evelyn asked, panicking slightly. She wondered if Kiana had been upset by her confrontation with Sabrina. Although Sabrina acted like a Karen, Avery mentioned that she loved and pampered Kiana a lot.

"Because you played at the bitch without me," Kiana huffed. Realizing she was talking to her mommy, she turned to Agatha and repeated, "Tell Mommy it’s because she played at the bitch without me."

"Bitch?" Evelyn didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the girl’s cute phrasing.

"Yes! When I woke up, Aunt Avery told me this morning you took Dad to the bitch to play and would come back later," Kiana pouted, her lips forming a dramatic curve. "I am angry you went without me."

Evelyn and Avery realized that Kiana meant "beach" and burst into chuckles. Even Zevian, who had just returned from seeing off Damien and the others, couldn’t help but smile and shake his head at his daughter’s innocent mistake.

Kiana glared at the adults laughing at her predicament. Her little face grew even more stern. Now, she was even more angry!

Evelyn moved closer and tried to console her daughter. "Well, you were sleeping, and we didn’t want to disturb you." Seeing that Kiana was unconvinced, she added, "And it was quite chilly. Your daddy ended up catching a cold because of it."

Kiana’s expression softened to one of slight worry. She looked up at her daddy and asked, "You are sick?" But then quickly changed back to anger, "No, I am still angry!"

"Hmm, should we go to the beach again to calm our princess’s anger?" Evelyn suggested. When Kiana’s eyes twinkled, she continued with a smile, "Since it’s the weekend tomorrow and you don’t have school, we can all go to the beach."

Kiana’s face brightened at the idea. She bounced in her seat and nodded eagerly. "Yes! Yes!" She pounced into Evelyn’s arms and exclaimed, "Mommy is the best!"

Evelyn laughed and patted Kiana’s head. "It’s settled then. We’re going to the beach tomorrow," she said, glancing at Zevian, who nodded in approval. Kiana needed this outing, and he was willing to postpone all his work to spend time with them.

Everyone smiled warmly as Kiana eagerly listed all the things she wanted to do at the beach, just like her friends who went with their parents. They were so lost in her excitement that no one noticed the maid at the very edge of the room, wiping the table with unnerving precision, her ears keenly tuned to their conversation.

Finishing her work, she reported to Agatha with a nod before slipping out of the house. Her heart raced as she made her way to the swimming pool. Taking out her phone, her hands trembled as she scrolled through the recent calls list. After taking a deep, shaky breath, she dialed the unknown number.

The phone rang several times, each ring amplifying her anxiety. When the call was finally answered, the voice on the other end was distorted, eerie, and masked by a voice-changing app, greeting her, sending a shiver down her spine.

"They are going to the beach tomorrow," she reported to the man, her voice barely above a whisper. Fear crept into her tone as she added, "But Mr. Reign is also coming with them."

The person on the other end hummed thoughtfully, his response chilling her to the bone. "Just prepare the drink I asked for. This will be your last task."

The maid’s heart pounded in her chest. She opened her mouth to object but was silenced by a sudden notification on her phone. She glanced down to see a message from her bank, confirming a credit into her account. The sight of the hefty sum made her swallow her protests.

"Al-alright," she replied, clutching the small packet of powder hidden in her skirt pocket. Little did she know that the powder wasn’t some sleeping pills but a drug that could take someone’s life.
