Zevian couldn’t help but smile at Evelyn’s reaction, feeling the heat rise within him in tandem with her anticipation. He had deliberately foregone wearing the hoodie earlier, fully expecting her reaction. Now, however, his own plans to tease her were backfiring as the urge to kiss her overwhelmed his senses.

Yet, there were matters regarding his past marriage with Katherine and Kiana’s birth that needed to be cleared before he could pursue anything with Evelyn. He thought, controlling himself.

Evelyn’s heart pounded in her chest, feeling Zevian get even closer, his face just a hair’s breadth away from hers. She held her breath, waiting for what seemed inevitable. A few frustrating seconds passed, and instead of his lips, she felt the soft fabric of the brush against her shoulders.

Evelyn fluttered her eyes open, her brows creasing in confusion. She looked at him, then at the gray hoodie in his hand. Wait, he had leaned over to take his hoodie and not kiss her?!

Her cheeks flushed red again, both with embarrassment and frustration as she saw him donning the garment ever so innocently. She cursed herself for falling for his tricks once more!

"There, all covered up," Zevian said playfully, his eyes still locked on hers. "I won’t roam shirtless again."

"Jerk," Evelyn muttered under her breath, glaring at him. Frustration boiled over, and without hesitation, she stepped forward and stomped on his foot before storming out of the dining hall.

"Ow!" Zevian winced, then chuckled softly.

The workers who were around couldn’t help but squeal at the couple’s intimacy. So the rumor was indeed true. Many thought having heard that Evelyn was Zevian’s first love from Avery herself. After everything their master had gone through in his past marriage, they couldn’t help but wish for him to find the happiness he truly deserved.

An hour later, Evelyn and Kiana happily enjoyed their breakfast in the dining hall. Their laughter and chatter filled the room, lifting the workers’ spirits around them. But Evelyn’s smile vanished when Zevian, who should have left for the office by now, walked in, dressed in his suit with AirPods in his ears.

"Good morning, Daddy!" Kiana greeted with a smile as Zevian sat on the chair beside her, with Evelyn on her left. Licking jam off her lips, Kiana continued, "Mommy and I are watching a movie today."

"That’s wonderful!" Zevian replied, pausing his meeting to ruffle his daughter’s hair. Glancing at Evelyn, he added, "Make sure to have fun, sweetheart."

Evelyn scowled and sipped her coffee. With how bold he was getting day by day, it was better she pretended like he didn’t exist. Wiping the jam off Kiana’s lips, she smiled, cherishing their time together as Zevian resumed his meeting.

Evelyn’s phone rang suddenly. Seeing it was Avery, she reluctantly answered, only to hear her friend scream excitedly from the other end. Holding the phone away, Evelyn sighed. "What’s wrong?"

Evelyn’s eyes lit up as Avery shared some shocking news. She sneaked a glance in Zevian’s direction, an idea popping into her mind. With a cheeky smile, she replied, "Oh my god! Really? Alright, I will personally pick him up."

Kiana paused, looking up from her bread. Taking a bite, she asked, "Mommy, is someone coming?"

Evelyn nodded and replied a little too loudly, hoping her words would pierce right through Zevian’s heart. "Yes, baby! Mr. Igor is coming tomorrow for our party. I’m excited to see him after a long time."

Zevian, wearing only one of the AirPods, frowned, sensing the excitement in her voice. He pretended not to hear and continued his meeting, but her next answer to Kiana’s question irked him.

"Who is Mr. I-Igor?"

"Oh, he is a very special friend of mine, sweetie," Evelyn replied with a shy smile spreading across her face. Zevian looked in her direction, his eyes slightly narrowed in irritation. Jealousy was a powerful weapon that always worked wonders in the past, and now she would use it to pay him back for his torturous teasing.

Satisfied with his reaction, Evelyn patted Kiana’s head. "Let me get some fresh juice." With a silly smile at Zevian, she left for the kitchen.

Throughout the day, Evelyn enjoyed time with Kiana, seizing every chance to tease Zevian. Dinner time was the worst nightmare for Zevian as even his cousin had joined in praising Mr. Igor.

"You know what? You should just wear the dress he sent you instead of what we planned a few days ago," Avery suggested, munching on her meat. The tension in the room thickened, the maids fearing for their lives as Zevian glared in her direction. But Avery missed it and continued, "We should appreciate his efforts for shipping it so quickly."

Evelyn acted like she was blushing, sipping her drink much to Zevian’s displeasure. She quietly nodded, the shy smile never leaving her face, making his grip tighten around the knife in his hand. Why was she so happy to see her client?! And why the heck did that guy send a dress for his wife? One to wear for their wedding party?!

"Let’s try it out after dinner, Avy. We might need to do some last-minute alterations," Evelyn suggested, fueling Zevian’s jealousy that he glared at Avery, the real perpetrator of all this mess. He was sure she must have been the playing cupid between his wife and another man!

Evelyn couldn’t help but laugh inside her head, Zevian’s every expression celebrating her victory. Just like she had said, she went out to try the dress Avery had received from Mr. Igor that evening. It was a bit revealing but worth wearing in front of Zevian, she thought, admiring herself in the mirror.

She stepped out of the dressing room and asked, "How do I look?" But the smile on her face vanished when she saw Zevian standing at the door. He looked back at Avery, who had walked out to pick up an emergency call, and then back at Evelyn.

Evelyn noticed how his eyes subtly widened, a gasp almost leaving his mouth as his eyes fixed on her.

Zevian’s eyes admired her, roaming over her body with an intensity that made Evelyn’s heart race. She looked undeniably hotter than he had ever seen her before. The delicate spaghetti straps of the black dress showcased her collarbones, and the top was loose, offering a tantalizing glimpse of her cleavage. The satin fabric hugged her waist perfectly, accentuating her curves before flowing freely down. But what made him gulp was the daring slit that ran up her left thigh, revealing her long, smooth leg.

Evelyn suppressed a laugh and decided to tease him. "How do I look?" she asked, turning around to reveal the backless design extending down to her lower waist. It was dipped low, dangerously low, revealing the soft, delicate skin of her lower back. And worse? She had tied her hair into a bun, giving Zevian an unobstructed view of her slender neck.

Evelyn looked breathtaking, and it took all of Zevian’s self-control not to close the distance between them and claim her lips in a searing kiss. The way the dress clung to her, the way it moved with her, it was almost too much. And his eyes subtly widened when he realized that this dress was gifted to her by another man! And everyone at the party would see her in it!

"You aren’t wearing that for tomorrow’s party!" he declared, possessiveness rather evident in his voice.
