Seth’s eyes watered as every box he read through felt like torture.

To think he missed out on such valuable treasures!

He felt like screaming, like rampaging, but his muscles went weak with despair.

He hadn’t missed these sales because of points — apparently, he had a massive balance!

Which made sense. Thinking back to his previous battle, just surviving in the Charm Beast Soul Spell alone must have skyrocketed his Flash Point balance.

’Why was I unconscious through it all?!’

His teeth ground so hard they began to heat up. Veins popped across his head. He couldn’t bring himself to look away.

When he reached the Tier 2 Oracle Crystal, Seth couldn’t hold it back — a tear streaked down his chin.

Maya and the doctor at his side interpreted this wrong.

The little aunt hugged her nephew. "It’s okay, no matter what, you’re here now," she whispered in his ear, trying to console him.

’Sigh... poor kid,’ Doctor Tion thought, taking this as his cue to leave.

"I’ll inform your family of your current status. I’m sure they’ll come visit you soon."

But Seth didn’t reply, only staring listlessly into the void.

The doctor shook his head at the sight and left. He could heal the body, but not the mind.

On Seth’s end, he felt his heart bleeding, his eyes prickling as though reading through the system prompts brought waves of pain.

He felt he couldn’t move on. When next would he get an offer like a Tier 2 Oracle Crystal?!

Finally, the screens faded. He sighed inwardly.

’Ah... what’s gone is gone.’

He glanced down at Maya hugging him tightly. He forced a smile. "I’m okay, you can relax... I just think I missed an opportunity, that’s all."

Maya leaned back, examining him doubtfully. She still sat by his side and held his hands. "I can’t make all the bad things you feel in your heart go away, but I can hope my presence can at least make your heart lighter."

Seth smiled wryly. "Truly, it isn’t like that." But seeing her stubborn expression, he gave up.

Maya was just like him — once she decided, there was no use trying to shift her mind otherwise.

"Did you awaken a gene lineage?" he asked, trying to lighten the mood and change the subject.

Maya’s eyes lit up and she nodded fervently. "Yes, I did! It’s called the Grand Weapon Maester! I even awakened a Royal-grade gene skill with it called ’Weapon Sense’!" she exclaimed excitedly.

It was as though he had brought up a topic she had been planning to tell him.

"What of you?" Her gaze brimmed with curiosity as she stared at her older nephew.

Seth scratched his chin. "I also awakened the same lineage — the Grand Weapon Maester. But it seems the lineage gifts different gene skills."

Maya’s smile faltered at his words. It was subtle, but Seth knew this girl too well not to pick up when something was wrong.

His gaze narrowed. "What’s wrong?"

She averted her gaze, forcing her smile. She let go of his hands and fiddled with her long dark locks. "Ah, it’s nothing... it’s nothing."

Seth raised a brow. If he wasn’t sure before, he was even more sure now.

"What’s wrong? Tell me. Remember, we promised not to lie to each other." He pressed again, this time using emotional blackmail.

Maya folded, her expression warping into one of concern. "I-I kind of overheard the family elders scolding Big Uncle Simon.

And I heard them threaten something along the lines of... Quote: ’If that bastard doesn’t awaken the family’s lineage, even you can’t protect him!’

I didn’t hear the full context of the conversation, but when Big Uncle left the room, he was furious!"

Seth’s gaze narrowed. There was only one person Maya addressed as Big Uncle.

Simon Duskreaver — his father.

It seemed his father had an argument with the family council concerning him.

In truth, this wasn’t the first time. Every benefit his father provided for him, he had to fight for with the family council.

Even his attendance at Avalon — if not for his father’s relentless support, the family never wanted him to go there.

His father was a man of principle, and he believed that fathering a child, regardless of the circumstances, meant they were his responsibility.

Yes, his mother might have been a mistress, but his father loved her dearly.

Marriages in the Duskreaver family were mostly arranged, with little emotion like love involved.

Both parties simply fulfilled their duties as husband and wife like it was a job, with little emotion attached.

So it was quite common for masters to have side affairs after finding love outside marriage.

But the children birthed from such relationships were destined not to be recognized by the family.

In fact, the very fact that Seth bore the Duskreaver name spoke volumes of his father’s influence in the family.

The door swung open as two figures walked in.

Seth turned his head, and he knew who they were right away.

"It’s good to see you alive, younger brother." A feminine voice rang.

The two who had come were his half-siblings — the Duskreaver twins, a year older than him.

Henry and Helen Duskreaver.

Henry and Helen stared at Seth, their gazes carrying complicated lights.

Among the main family, not all disdained him. At least they didn’t. But their status didn’t allow them to interact much with this little brother of theirs, lest it caused him more harm than good.

Seth frowned. These two had avoided him for so long. The only reason he could think of for them being here was because...

Henry stepped forward, voicing the

conclusion. "Seth Duskreaver, you have been summoned to the family council!"
