Each flip caused his eyes to widen and his jaw to hang.

No matter how much composure he had as an esteemed president, there were limits — like when someone brought a tutorial to build a freaking titan-grade mech to you.

How could his eyes not bulge wide, how could his jaw not hang?

The strangest thing was the president couldn’t even begin to comprehend how he could understand what he was reading.

But one thing was for sure — this was life-changing for the human race!

He slapped the book shut and stared at Seth. For a short period of time, he couldn’t help but bring himself to like this lad more and more.

His gaze trailed to Trisha. ’Was this what she meant when she labeled him the Sun of the human race?’

Indeed, this contribution alone was worth such a title.

One had to understand the levity of what was in his hands...

It was akin to bringing a detailed study of modern tech to the medieval era. If such a thing had happened, how much farther would human innovation have gone?

It was akin to increasing the starting point of the human race on the technological sprint.

This study alone could be the grounding for several things in the future. Theories discovered through this could be explored, and the already exploding advance of the human race could be further bolstered.

And they all had Seth to thank for this...

The president silently imprinted this favor in his heart. "Lad, this really means a lot to the war to come. I can’t thank you enough on behalf of our entire species."

Seth waved his hands. "Ah, it’s no worries. I only did what I was meant to do, and besides, it’s not my specialty, so I practically had no other option than to hand it over."

Seth was impressed even further. Anyone else — hand them a golden egg and they’d get greedy asking about the duck.

Yet this man tactically avoided such an error. Such a person Seth liked the most — receiving benefits and asking no further questions. That was the type of relationship he was seeking to build.

Both parties began to have a feeling they would be good friends henceforth.

The other four behind Seth were burning with curiosity. What could possibly be in that book that elicited such a reaction from the president himself?

They had placed him on such a high pedestal in their hearts, they couldn’t imagine him ever reacting like he just did.

But they were smart enough to rein in their curiosity. They could ask about it later...

The president quickly fished out a handset, dialing a number.

With a shortcut, the call connected on the other end. "Be quick, sir, I don’t have much time to waste."

An extremely annoyed aged voice could be heard on the other end.

The officers around smiled, recognizing the voice — the head of the scientific engineering department.

They were on the fervent quest of updating mechanics to the current reality.

They were the figures that created the first self-powered unlimited energy supply generator, channeling the essence in the atmosphere into pure power, just two weeks after the apocalypse.

Saving the government from a ton of work and helping redirect manpower that was supposed to go into other facilities, they were very much needed.

Now that new discoveries were being made left and right, these scientists were acting like junkies on steroids and didn’t care for status once you disturbed them from work.

"Engineer Ron, I promise this will be worth it. This might even be the breakthrough you’ve been looking for." The president gently tried coercing the man.

Even he was helpless when it came to these guys. They were efficient, and they were truly worth every cent of respect given.

There was a brief moment of silence on the other end before Professor Ron replied.

"It better be truly worth it or I swear—" Before he could cuss any further, the president ended the call. He still had an image and prestige to keep, after all.

And with everyone being evolvers, his phone call might well be on stereo speakers broadcasting their conversation.

Ahem! He feigned a cough. "Okay lads, once I hand this over to the engineer, we can leave."

The five nodded, the four silently pulling Seth aside to fess up on whatever he handed over. The curiosity was already killing them.

It didn’t take up to ten minutes, and with a chime, the elevator opened and a haggard elderly bespectacled man in oil-stained white overalls walked in hunched.

But his very presence radiated anything but what his physique relayed. His eyes were as bright as torches, his frame though hunched due to age was absurdly robust.

Adjusting his glasses on his oil-stained face, he walked up to the president, stretching his hands. "This better be worth it."

The president just smiled and handed the log over...

Seeing the president’s expression, the elder just scoffed and got to flipping.

And one could spot the difference between a professional right away. The first page alone was enough to send him reeling.

He stood there immersed in the foreign text that he could somehow understand for minutes.

He didn’t dare turn the page. He hadn’t even fully comprehended the content of the first page. He didn’t feel worthy of going beyond it just yet.

His breaths fogged as his breathing grew ragged, his eyes wide and fervent, a line of drool streaking the corner of his jaw.

This was practically a wet dream come true for him. He could stand there for hours if possible, but he had to address the president.

"S-sir president, could I know where you got this?" His voice croaked, managing to muster words.

The president smiled. "It was so graciously donated to us by our benefactor," he highlighted as he pointed to Seth. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

The elder’s neck craned to Seth and the others’ direction, his eyes carrying deep respect. "Your name could go down in the history books for this, boy. You did the greatest favor possible to humanity."

Seth smiled and bowed. "It’s only my duty."

The elder nodded in approval, stroking his beard. "Sensible and humble, tsk tsk. Good material. What do you think, boy? I have a granddaughter of about your age. You two might be a nice fit. She’s pretty outstanding, standards are pretty high, but you..." He scrutinized closer and nodded to himself. "You might just do."

Brandon lamented at this sight. "Ah, big bro is on another level, tsk tsk. I truly envy hi—Oww, what the heck."

Mid-sigh, he suddenly shrieked, glaring at Elaine, who swung her head sideways, snorting.

For some reason, his words irritated her. Why this was, she couldn’t tell just yet.

Back on Seth’s end, he tactfully dodged the offer. "Haha, I’m sure she’s a fine lady. If the opportunity permits, I will meet her."

The elder nodded in approval. "She and her parents were on a vacation to Australia and France when shit hit the fan. But fortunately, they seem to be doing quite well and have located a safe zone."

Seth just smiled at his words, feeling he shouldn’t comment on this.

Then the elder turned back to the president. "I can’t possibly work on this alone. This will have to be a collaboration between all strains of science, ranging from software engineering to even biology.

The study is too broad. At my level, I can’t possibly start a project of this scale." The elder began shooting requests next.

"Plus, we will need manpower. We have to scour the other safe zones for talents and surviving professionals. Then come materials — I can’t possibly comprehend what materials we will be needing, in what quantities, or if they would even be available on Earth.

But I will put in the request immediately. I’m clear on that."

The president could feel a wave of headache brewing. Massaging his brows, he quickly calmed the elder. "We’ll start working towards all these as soon as possible."

The elder just nodded absentmindedly, the book once more opened and his attention lost into it.

He glanced at both his escorts, ordering, "Take him back to his department section, and relay my orders to every one of the science department supervisors. Let them all halt their projects temporarily and join Engineer Ron."

The two saluted and took off. With the elder, they practically had to hold him by the armpit as the old cog just stood there lost in the texts.

The president finally turned back to Seth and the others. "It’s time."
