Everyone stared at Seth with attentive silence.

It wasn’t like they knew much about classes... well, in reality, aside from some guesses, they knew nothing.

But seeing the empty slot sitting on their status bars, they knew they had to fill it in somehow.

And unfortunately, due to the fact that none of them had yet completed their first system quest in the origin realm — which was to get to a Settlement — none of them even knew how to go about getting a class.

Seth smiled, seeing the curiosity lurking beneath their gazes, and quickly began to explain.

Detail by detail, he spoke about paths, making sure to enunciate the fact that changing a class was impossible.

Everyone’s eyes slowly brightened with understanding...

"So it’s basically like in fantasy games?" Brandon blinked as he wondered.

Beside him, Elaine scoffed. "Isn’t everything game-like already?"

Brandon shrugged in response, but his mind was already drifting into thought as he stared at the interface sitting on the periphery of his vision.

[Class ordination test is ready!]

’So that’s what this was?’ he muttered silently, then his lips stretched into a subtle smile.

’Hehe, this inheritance definitely made up for my lack of a gene lineage...’ He blinked, then shifted his gaze back to Seth.

But Uriel suddenly spoke up, wearing a frown. "Then what do we do about those green folks if they come after us again?"

Seth remained silent at this question. Naturally, he knew what Uriel was speaking of.

It was the foreign race members that attacked them, and to be frank, Seth was more worried about these guys than his friends could imagine.

But just because he was worried didn’t mean he’d deny himself a glaring opportunity to grow stronger.

Tapping against the table gently, he spoke. "Naturally, we will avoid conflict as much as possible. Our main aim is to get a class. As long as we do just that and leave, I don’t believe we’ll have a problem..."

Hearing this, Uriel brooded for a minute, then nodded. Having no other questions, he sat back down.

Glancing around the table, Seth asked, "Any more asks?"

Everyone blinked, then Jack, Uriel, and Elaine turned their gazes to Brandon. He was sprawled back on his chair, picking his nose.

Sensing the stares, "Huh? What?"

Seth smiled, understanding their implications. Since Brandon was quite separated from them in the origin realm, they wondered how his situation would be dealt with.

"Brandon, do you feel confident enough to, you know, return to the origin realm?"

Seth’s words provoked traumatic memories from Brandon. Suddenly his back began to itch, a subtle silhouette of a skeletal figure wielding a whip flashed through his mind.

Instantly he shivered, goosebumps rising. He shook his head fervently. "No, no, no. You guys don’t have to worry about me. I’ll find a way, but I can’t go back yet... I’m not ready."

Brandon had thought it through over the past days. He decided that he’d try to break through to the mid-level before even attempting to go back.

Fortunately, he earned a satisfactory sum of essence crystals from his daily inheritance quests.

By absorbing enough daily, it would only be a matter of time before his essence unit broke the 300 stat barrier.

"Are you sure you don’t want to try?" Seth pressed teasingly.

Brandon’s eyes twitched, but he still firmly shook his head. "You guys go ahead. I’ll just take this as an opportunity to slack off."

Then Seth nodded...

"So when do we leave?" Jack asked.

"Well, we can’t leave now. After the series of events we’ve gone through, I believe we deserve rest..."

Seth’s words resonated with everyone, especially Elaine. The poor lady was stressed.

Unlike the others, who had natural tendencies and loved the thrill of battle, she for one detested it.

It made her filthy all the time, and half the time her outfit ended up in rags.

She needed to restock proper clothes and other items she needed, which meant shopping.

Her eyes seemed to glimmer for a bit at the thought of the word.

Though Elaine’s exterior mostly maintained a cold façade, she had a contrasting personality within.

It was just the nature of her upbringing that shaped her into what she was today.

Being swamped all year round by countless suitors, myriad billionaire family heirs trying to win her attention, she had unconsciously developed the cold exterior — a way of making these annoying figures lose interest pretty quickly.

So her ears perked up with interest at Seth’s words.

"What do you guys think? How long should we stay?" Seth asked.

In his view, all work and no rest was no good. Yes, they were running on borrowed time, but still... they needed a break.

Not physically — last night’s nap alone made everyone feel as good as new.

But their minds still needed recuperation, and thinking of everything they went through so far, one could understand...

They witnessed everyone they ever knew in their school die. In fact, they were forced to kill some themselves.

They cleared a corruption zone, a feat so tough it took the rest of humanity five weeks to birth another set of individuals who could.

They woke from their brief comatose and still had to solve trouble after trouble that came their way.

This wasn’t about mental resilience. After all, even the firmest minds in the world still had breaking points.

"Four days?" Jack mentioned.

Seth smiled. "Four days it is..."

Everyone seemed fine with the arrangement, so Seth nodded in satisfaction.

Closing the Chapter on one matter, they continued to chat on more topics — this time more about their different perspectives of the battles.

Pointing out flaws they might have noticed from their teammates.

The atmosphere became lighter as they all chatted leisurely, and subconsciously they truly began to perceive one another as friends. Not circumstantial teammates, not battle buddies, but comrades in the purest sense.

Elaine’s frosty expression wasn’t so frosty. The taciturn Jack spoke more than usual.

The usually stiff Uriel became relaxed, and Brandon... well, remained Brandon.

The morning dialogue really helped dispel every bit of alienation left in their hearts...
