Around him, a swirling vortex of essence poured in. His gene lineages filtered the corruption, leaving him to bask in the constant stream of pure, refreshing energy.

Right now, he felt the efficiency of each of his stats was doubled compared to a regular human.

But as much as Seth enjoyed himself, one had to remember he still had a furious foe rushing forth with crazed abandon.

The wind whipped as a figure appeared before Seth.

The Defiled was in the air, both crimson blade arms raised as far back as possible.

The monster intended to reenact its previous attack. After all, the last time it tried, it almost claimed its prey’s life.

The dual crimson blades glinted with the reflection of lightning strikes as they arced through the air.

Suddenly, Seth’s eyes opened — brilliantly lit amethyst orbs shining from his Gothic black visor, focused on the Defiled.

The creature felt suddenly trapped in a quagmire, its actions eerily slow.

It felt stifled, as though pressure pressed on it from all sides. A blaring alarm of danger rang from its instincts.

The crimson flamed brighter in the creature’s hollow sockets as realization struck. It wasn’t slow — its absurdly fast perception was just kicking in.

But if its perception was so fast, how could one explain Seth moving so fluidly while its figure had slowed to a crawl?

Seth rolled the hilt of the broadsword in his grasp, turning the blade edge vertically.

His cold voice rang out: "Let’s try this again, shall we?"

The broadsword sang, an arc that seemed to tear against space blooming a gray streak in its wake.

The Defiled screeched in pain. The blade had torn through its tumor-clustered shell like a hot knife through butter.

Blood sprayed as a split bloomed across its abdomen, innards peeking through.

Momentum caught up, waves of power poured into the creature, catapulting it backward uncontrollably, leaving a trail of severed organs and streaks of blood in its wake.

’What a pity!’ Seth shook his head. The monster was too hardy; he couldn’t chop it into two in one strike.

That said...

He planted his blade into the ground and dismissed his armor.

His silver hair waved brilliantly the moment it was released from the visor, whipped by furious gales caused by the unsteady weather.

He rolled his tattered sleeves as a royal purple aura flared even brighter around him.

It was time to test his new gene skill and his new strengths.

Naturally, he could have done it even with the armor on, but with the massive boost gained from the legendary set and his evolved gene skill bolstering it further, he wouldn’t be able to tell where his true strength began and where the enhancement ended.

A ripple pulsed into the air, the traction field covering miles in a blink.

His eyes glinted. The system’s explanation of this skill effect didn’t do it justice.

An ethereal silver chain pulsed tight around his wrists, the other end attached to the neck of the skidding Defiled.

"Interesting." A playful smile appeared on his lips, and he tugged ever so slightly.

The monster’s whole side immediately turned into billowing ash. From its shoulder to its arm to its ribs and the organs beneath — all gone!

The effect of the attack was a silent, hair-raising disaster.

For the first time in the Defiled’s short span of life, fear flickered in its hollow flaming sockets.

The monster had been badly injured in a single punch, leaving only its right side intact and a few working organs visible from where the last attack landed.

The worst part was that there was no momentum from the attack. The beast couldn’t even borrow the force of its foe’s strength to flee.

Its figure remained suspended mid-air, its visible pitch-black heart thudding heavily, terror flooding its being.

As Seth raised another fist pulsing with the same spine-tingling light...

It wanted to cry, it wanted to flee, but from the moment Seth unleashed the first punch till now, barely a second had passed.

There was so little time to react. Its feet weren’t even on the floor; if they had been, it might have had a slight chance to evade or at least protect its head.

It was being bombarded at a speed it couldn’t react to, in a position unfavorable to it. The abomination was getting a taste of its own medicine — and it tasted bitter.

A fist silently tore through the wind, and the Defiled could only watch as the fist covered its vision until everything went black.
