It naturally made them more tense and wary.

The president quickly waved. "No now, don’t do that. I will say this once: we are all humans before we are individuals.

I’m only asking this for the benefit of humanity. With your experience, when Earth’s integration with the Origin is complete, and more Awakeners start popping up among our race, this info will prove invaluable."

His words did little to ease their wariness. Seth squinted. "How did you know?"

The atmosphere paused. Everyone’s ears perked up in full expectation of a reply.

But suddenly the president started to chuckle. "Hahaha, isn’t it obvious? From your poise, your unnatural gait, the way you walked to your seat — everything is obvious.

The five were stunned. If one put it like that... then they really had to admit it was obvious.

Suddenly his demeanor underwent a shift, the easy-going air diffusing with the wind.

The air conditioning seemed to grow colder as the president leaned forward, clasping his hands on the table.

Elaine’s lips moved, voicing an unsure reply. "Division?"

The president’s eyes burned bright. "Bingo." He snapped his fingers in acknowledgement.

Leaning forward even more, his eyes more fervent, "Now tell me, what do you think can unite the human race and break division?"

Everyone went silent, pondering but still unable to reply after a few seconds. After all, it was a complex question.

Interests? Profit? Or the old-fashioned iron grip of tyranny?

These answers flitted past their minds, but they felt it still wasn’t adequate.

Only someone among them seemed to have already come to a conclusion.

Seth stared the president in the eye. He answered, "Conflict!"

Seth went silent, his mind churning myriad complex thoughts at once.

At Uriel’s words, the others nodded, feeling that made more sense. After all, thinking humans could be governed as one wasn’t logical.

Surprisingly, the president wasn’t worried or visibly affected by Uriel’s input. Instead, he just leaned back, raised his hand to check his watch.

Brows raised in confusion, everyone stared at him puzzled. Convergence what now?
