First Person POV

Evelyn looked up at me with wide eyes and a look of surprise that flashed past her face for a fleeting moment.

I slowly walked towards her, step by step. A smirk was plastered across my face as I looked down at her and we locked eyes. There was a frown etched onto her face, resting between her brows, forming a deep crease on her forehead.

"Surprised to see me?" I taunted, breaking the silence that stretched between us as she struggled to find the words to say. "Wonder how I know about your little rendezvous?" I mused, each word that left my lips dripping with venom as I looked at her with an amused smile lingering on my lips.

She whipped her head around in an instant, turning to look at Xavier with disbelief written all over her face.

"Xavier, what the hell is going on? Why is she here?" She questioned frantically as her eyes darted around, searching for some form of clarity as she reached out to hold onto his arm. "How did she know we..." her voice trailed off as her brain struggled to register the situation that was unfolding before her eyes.

He looked right into her eyes and let out a soft chuckle as he arched his brow at her, pulling his arm away from her.

"You still don’t get it?" He mocked and she remained silent, only staring at him with a blank look etched onto her face, a puzzled expression masked her features. "I lied about still being in love with you, Evelyn," he revealed, his words were like sharp shards of glass piercing through her chest at that moment.

"What?" She muttered under her breath, refusing to believe the words that left his lips. She shook her head lightly in denial as she lowered her head to stare at the ground. "I don’t get it, what are you talking about?"

She looked up to meet his gaze once again, gesturing to the picnic mat. "You are telling me all of these... Was it all just a lie? It was all an elaborate setup? For what?" Her voice getting louder with each word that emerged from her throat, anger starting to spread within her like a wildfire.

"It was all part of the plan to get you to confess," he replied coldly, a distant look on his face.

As if on cue, the camera crew and the reports emerged from the dark, seemingly out of nowhere. The whole scene had been broadcasted on live television for everyone to watch without her even knowing.

The crowd began to surround Evelyn in an instant as Xavier grabbed me and pulled me away to stand at the side.

"Evelyn! What do you have to say about this?" One of the reporters yelled as she shoved the microphone in her face.

"Evelyn, over here! Why did your dad bribe the judges? Why did you tell everyone that Aurelia was the one who framed you?" Another questioned blatantly without any hesitation.

"Why do you hate Aurelia so much? What did she do to you?"

All the different questions and noise echoed in her ears, sending her over the edge as her heart raced within her chest.

In a panic, she raised her arms to cover the cameras that were pointed directly at her face as she screamed, her voice trembling with anger. "Cut the cameras! Delete it! I’m going to sue your fucking asses!" Her sharp voice pierced through the tension that was lingering in the air, she could no longer put up with her innocent sweet girl act any longer as anger overtook her senses.

She didn’t know that it was too late for that.

Among the crowd, she locked eyes with me from a distance and I could clearly see the anger and rage burning in the depths of her eyes as she clenched her fists tightly beside her.

"You! You bitch! This is all your fault!" She snarled with a disdainful scorn before marching towards me, raising her hand, fully intending to strike me across my face. But I caught her wrist in my hand and glared at her with an intense look in my eyes.

"Don’t even think about touching me," I spat the words out like they were poison in my mouth. I raised my brow at her as my eyes held hers captive. "Did you really think that Xavier would still be in love with you? How naive can you be?" I mocked, as I let a laughter escape from my parted lips.

She forcefully yanked her wrist out of my tight grasp, anger turning her cheeks red. "I –"

I let a smile grace my lips. "But thanks to you," I continued, cutting her off before she could finish her sentence, my eyes twinkling with amusement as I stared at her. "We got your confession broadcasted on live television, it’s over for you now," I said as a smirk tugged at the corners of my lips.

I watched as her demeanour shifted almost entirely in the next second, the anger on her face quickly faded and was replaced with panic and anxiety that washed over her.

"Live television?" She repeated with wide eyes as she stumbled back a couple of steps in pure shock. Her eyes darted around anxiously. "You must be joking right? Right? Tell me you are joking."

I watched as she turned to look at the crowd of reporters that gathered around us with helplessness in her eyes. She was all alone this time, her parents weren’t here to help her or save her anymore.

"My dad didn’t bribe anyone!" She quickly exclaimed, retracting her previous statement when I didn’t say another word. "I was just joking, I didn’t actually mean it! It was a joke!" She declared, letting out a laugh, the nervous kind of laughter that echoed in the night.

Amidst the chaos that unfolded, neither of them noticed that the police had arrived until someone shouted, the unfamiliar voice caught their attention.

"The police are here!"

On instinct, everyone snapped their head around, their eyes swept across the area, a look of anticipation hung on their faces. The crowd parted like the red sea, allowing the police to march straight to Evelyn, closing the distance between them in a few large strides.

"Are you Evelyn Lloyd?" The police officer asked with a serious expression that masked his features and an intimidating look in his eyes.

She nodded lighty, muttering a soft "yes" under her breath.

"Evelyn Lloyd, you are under arrest for bribery."
