There was a short pause as silence stretched between the two and the air continued to crackle with tension.

The gears in his head were shifting as he thought of a plausible reason. She was right, why exactly did he do that? Why did he kiss her? Was it to spite Aurelia? Or was it something else... that he was starting to actually fall for Stella? He didn’t know. He simply shook his head. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"It doesn’t matter," he simply said, dismissing her. "Just don’t show up at my workplace again."

His words were like daggers, piercing right through her chest and into her heart. It was like a switch flipped in her.

"Fine," she muttered. "Then you don’t deserve to eat the food I prepared." Before he knew it, he watched as she took the plates of food and chucked them into the bin impulsively.

"Are you crazy?!"

She cackled like a mad woman as she met his gaze.

"I’m done... I’m out of here. Have fun eating nothing."

He never once thought of chasing after her, only watching as she ran out of his house.

I was just about to close my eyes when I heard a knock on the door. My eyes shot wide open now as I sat up and before I could say another word, I watched as the door was pushed open.

My eyes fell on Xavier who was standing by the door in his plain black shirt and shorts. His dark hair was still slightly damp, he had probably just taken a shower. He leaned his shoulder against the door frame and he crossed his arms over his chest as we locked eyes from afar.

I arched a brow at him. "What?"

"Nothing?" I repeated, tossing his word back at him. For some reason, I felt hurt. What did he mean that it was nothing? That kiss wasn’t nothing, I felt something...

"I was simply playing my role as your husband, and perhaps got a little too engrossed."

"Playing a role? You are my husband."

"On paper, yes," he corrected. "But come on, we only got married because of personal reasons, it’s not like we are in love or something."

He was right... unfortunately. We weren’t in love. I barely know this guy, so why does it hurt? Why did my heart feel so heavy?

He turned his back and was just about to leave when I found myself calling out to him as his name left my lips.

"Xavier."

He whipped his head around to look at me. Without a single warning, I rose from my bed and marched towards him, throwing my arms around his neck and leaning in closer to him, our faces barely inches apart.

Before I knew it, my eyes fluttered shut and I was pressing my lips against his.

"Is the kiss still nothing now?"

I leaned back to look at him, my arms still slung around his neck as my eyes were holding his captive. The corners of my lips curved upwards into a slight smile.

A look of lust flashed past his eyes and his initial nonchalant demeanour shifted entirely within a split second. A smirk tugged at his lips.

"Don’t start something you can’t finish."

The smirk that was etched onto his face grew even wider than before. He didn’t say another word as he only reached up to cup my cheeks in his hands and pulled me towards him, and soon, our lips collided once again.

He didn’t waste any time as I soon found myself completely naked while his body hovered over mine. In a split second, he had ripped clothes off my body, tossing them onto the ground like they were nothing more than old pieces of rags.
