’A successor?’

Ye Wushuang froze, his gaze fixed on the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch.

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch began his tale. "A thousand years ago, I knew my time was short. Unwilling to let my legacy perish with me, I sent my pet, a Treasure-Seeking Rat, out into the world to find a suitable successor."

Listening to the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch, Ye Wushuang had a theory. ’The Treasure-Seeking Rat he mentioned must be the grandfather of my Treasure-Seeking Rat.’

After the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s Dao perished, the rat was sent out of the Earth Palace to find him a successor.

The unknowing Treasure-Seeking Rat had secretly taken Ye Wushuang to the Demon Abyss to retrieve the Demon God Statue, where they had encountered its grandfather within the statue.

At the time, its grandfather had mentioned the Demon God Statue was connected to the Earth Palace but had concealed the full truth from Ye Wushuang.

With everything falling into place, Ye Wushuang asked, "Senior, what exactly happened back in Ancient Times?"

"Ancient Times?"

At these words, the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch glanced up at the sky, a terrifying glint erupting from his dark eyes. "Back then, I had left the Demon Domain to travel the Star River and had just arrived in the Grand Emperor Domain. I never expected to encounter ’Heaven’ wiping out the world. So, I intervened. Little did I know, it would end with my Dao perishing."

’Dao perishing?’

Hearing those last words, Ye Wushuang was filled with a complex mix of emotions. In the hearts of the common people, Demons were evil and cruel, bloodthirsty and tyrannical, capable of every depravity imaginable—utterly despised by all.

And yet, it was almost inconceivable that such a Demon had become the world’s savior!

The irony was staggering.

"Do you still feel hatred, Senior?" Ye Wushuang asked.

"Hate? Of course I hate!" the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch declared, making no effort to hide his feelings. "I hate everyone. I want to kill everyone. But now, on the verge of annihilation, I am helpless. Even if I were to get out, I could slaughter the entire Grand Emperor Domain, but I still couldn’t destroy the true culprit, ’Heaven’."

’Heaven?’

Ye Wushuang also looked up at the sky. ’Is the ’Heaven’ he speaks of the same ’Heaven’ I’m thinking of?’

"Kid, I don’t care if you do it for yourself or for your loved ones, but if you want to live, you must do whatever it takes to raise your strength. You must become strong—incredibly strong. Only then will you have a sliver of a chance to survive. Only then might you be able to protect those you wish to guard."

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s tone was incredibly grave.

Ye Wushuang sensed the profound gravity in his words, his brow furrowed. ’Only a sliver of a chance to survive... That one phrase reveals so much.’

He fixed his gaze on the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch. "Senior, is something going to happen in the future?"

"A World Destruction by ’Heaven’ happens once every hundred thousand years. You tell me what’s going to happen."

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s next words were shocking. "When the time comes, the weak will be annihilated, turned to dust. Only the strong will earn a chance to survive. If you want to make it through the World Destruction, you must at least cultivate to the Nirvana Realm. If you want to protect those you wish to guard, you must reach the Great Saint Realm at a minimum."

’World Destruction?’

From the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s tone, Ye Wushuang knew he wasn’t joking. A heavy weight settled on him. "How much time is left?"

"Very short!"

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch said, "With your current aptitude and Destiny, if you cultivate with everything you have, you might be able to save yourself."

’If I cultivate hard, I can save myself?’

But Ye Wushuang wanted more than just to save himself; he had to protect so many others.

The image of his friends and family falling one by one before him flashed through his mind. Ye Wushuang’s fists clenched, his gaze sharp as a blade. "Senior, if ’Heaven’ brings World Destruction... can’t we just destroy ’Heaven’?"

"Destroy it? You’ve got some nerve, kid!"

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch scoffed. "’Heaven’ is omnipotent. It’s nearly impossible to kill."

"So no one has ever killed it?" Ye Wushuang’s heart sank. If that was the case, the World Destruction would continue every hundred thousand years, indefinitely. You might survive it once, but you couldn’t survive it ten times, or a hundred.

"There was!"

Just then, the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s tone took a sharp turn. "That person did."

’That person did?’

’Who?’

Ye Wushuang was shocked. ’There really was a peerless figure ruthless enough to kill Heaven.’

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch fell silent for a moment. He looked up, his gaze seeming to pierce through the void toward the cosmos, and then he uttered a single word: "Emperor!"

’Emperor?’

That single word sent shockwaves through Ye Wushuang’s mind.

The word was all too familiar.

The figure in the Divine Temple had told him that he possessed the bloodline of the Emperor.

’Just who is this Emperor?’

Ye Wushuang wanted to ask something else.

But the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch seemed to know what he wanted to ask. "Those matters are too far beyond you for now," he said. "Your only job is to survive. If you can successfully master my Sacred Secret, you may yet be able to protect everything you hold dear."

With that, the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch waved a hand. A brilliant, blood-red blade of light shot toward Ye Wushuang like a fleeting wisp.

Its speed was beyond extreme.

Even though Ye Wushuang reacted, he was powerless to stop it.

In an instant, the blade of light drilled into the space between his eyebrows.

A flicker of worry crossed Ye Wushuang’s mind. He hurriedly sent his Divine Sense into his Divine Court. There, the blood-red blade of light was suspended in the void, where it transformed into a sphere of crimson light.

The sphere was wreathed in streaks of blood-red light, pulsing with a world-shaking killing aura!

"I have two great techniques. One is the Supreme Transformation True Demon, the other is the World-Destroying Slash!"

"The Supreme Transformation True Demon is a technique of ultimate sublimation. By burning your qi and blood as a catalyst, it allows you to ignore all Realm boundaries and forcibly raise your power by three layers, enabling you to kill enemies far above your level."

The Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s voice echoed in Ye Wushuang’s Divine Court.

As the Breaking Realm Demon Monarch’s voice faded, the crimson sphere of light trembled. Boundless Saber Qi erupted from it, coalescing into the form of a peerless Demon Shadow.

A terrifying image surfaced in Ye Wushuang’s mind: the peerless Demon Shadow stood amidst the cosmos, holding a colossal, ten-thousand-zhang-long, blood-red saber.
