Elara’s POV

Dorian stared at me in complete shock, his ears pressed flat against his skull. Even my gentle touch made him purr softly.

"Your Highness, has anyone ever mentioned how adorable you look in your beast form?" I asked.

"Elara..." Dorian’s fur bristled.

He leaped from the ground, his small wings beating frantically as if he wanted to escape.

"Is this the power of my mate?" Dorian thought.

I gave him another gentle pat before standing and wheeling the food cart away. I genuinely felt no romantic attraction toward this freshly matured leopard.

But when I turned back around—my gaze landed directly on Barrett.

He was completely dressed now: crisp white shirt with moonstone cufflinks, his solid muscles creating subtle tension in the fabric, perfectly fitted black trousers, and designer shoes with red soles.

Barrett lounged on the leather sofa, his long legs elegantly crossed. When he caught me staring, he gave a courteous nod. Now in human form, he was clearly committed to maintaining his dignity.

I quickly averted my eyes.

So gorgeous. Those legs go on forever. Just for that, you scoundrel, you belong to me.

Julian and Kaelen were both positioned by their cell doors. Only after seeing me return unharmed did they finally let their guard down. Hearing I was safe was one thing—witnessing it firsthand was entirely different.

They despised being trapped inside, powerless to do anything except worry.

"You shouldn’t have been so careless," Julian said, his chest rising and falling as he spoke through the meal slot. "What if something had happened to you? What would I have done?"

Kaelen released a sharp snort. "General Julian, you’re crossing a line."

The little dragon’s outburst brought Julian back to reality.

"My mate hasn’t been completely honest with me yet—am I being too intense?" Julian thought.

"I apologize. I got too emotional," Julian muttered.

I laughed, my eyes sparkling with amusement, "It’s fine, Jules. You’re just worried about me."

Kaelen went quiet.

Jules?

"Then what was all my special attention worth? Am I nothing more than an adorable pet?" Kaelen thought.

"I’m trapped in here. Please don’t frighten me like that again, alright?" Julian pleaded.

His lower half remained submerged in the water. He pressed his palms against the stone wall and gazed up at me, begging me not to take such dangerous chances anymore.

Julian, with his divine features, speaking so tenderly—I couldn’t help but agree. "I promise."

I blew him a kiss. Julian ducked his head, his heart racing wildly. I was so fearless with my affection. He felt completely overwhelmed.

"My lady..." He raised his head bashfully—only to discover I had already left.

I was now positioned outside Cell One, prodding the small black dragon’s rear with a thin rod.

Kaelen spun around indignantly, lifting his chin high and squeezing his eyes shut. His wings partially extended, he perched on his tail and folded his front legs. His entire posture declared, "I’m furious."

No matter how much I poked him, he wouldn’t turn back around. He’d been terrified for me, and I’d only focused on Julian.

What’s so special about some sea-clan guy?

After all this time together, they’d all figured me out. Who received preferential treatment, who I looked at longer—it had nothing to do with mating bonds. I only cared about appearance.

Julian, the previously dejected merman, had obviously brightened up. He’d received a flower at lunch. I’d chatted with him constantly. I’d even glanced back at him when leaving.

Dorian got away with everything simply because he was young and adorable.

And Cell Seven?

"That cunning pharmacist thinks he’s being subtle? Using his human form to seduce my mate?" Kaelen thought.

Alistair is the only respectable one. He stays concealed all day—that’s how a proper male should behave. The rest are just garbage.

The more Kaelen brooded, the more enraged he became. He snorted through his nose, furious with every single one of them.

"And Barrett! I heard Barrett was once the most powerful warrior on land, a general while still young. I expected typical male rivalry—but instead, Barrett has to act pathetic and gnaw on the bars," Kaelen thought.

That’s what made my mate so angry she went inside.

So manipulative. Just completely scheming.

And Finnian? Giving presents? Please, anyone could do that as well.

Just as I was about to poke him once more, Kaelen whirled around. The silly dragon clamped his teeth onto the railing. As he bit down, he produced gleaming stones and strange little trinkets from his storage: a shark-dog plushie, a rock and roll dog keychain, a muscle roach figure, a shark trident, and a dinosaur-carrying-wolf doll.

"You..." I stopped poking and studied the "fierce" Kaelen seriously, then examined his tiny, ridiculous toys.

I extended my hand. Kaelen released the railing instantly and pressed his face toward me, making soft rumbling sounds.
