Elara’s POV

The breaking news on Astrogrid screamed about the Holy Crystal theft at Glimmeraven Port.

Wild.

But I had bigger concerns. I pulled up the family group chat and typed, "Everyone needs to move back in with me."

The house felt lifeless without them around.

Definitely needed some energy in this place.

Silas shot back first: "Copy that."

He showed up before anyone else could blink—didn’t even need to pack a bag. He claimed the room right next to mine, complete with the connecting balcony.

Forget whatever room he’d been scoping out before—the way he swooped in so slick, nobody needed an explanation.

I’d booted them all out earlier. Now I was singing a different tune? Obviously Silas was pulling the strings.

They had no clue he was that smooth.

Silas smirked: "You’re welcome!"

The rest scrambled and wrestled for spots, thanking Silas the whole damn time.

Kaelen came in second. The little dragon moved like lightning—ditched his ride, swept me up, and bolted back. Still came up short against Barrett, though. The prime real estate on both sides of my room was history. He settled for something on the third floor instead. With that tail of his, he could dangle upside down if he felt like it. Plus wings meant flying was always an option.

Alistair claimed the ground floor. He moved quick—all that slithering and sliding paid off.

Finnian snatched the room straight across from mine. Julian also went for the first floor, facing Alistair—his came with a pool out back. Dorian couldn’t care less—didn’t matter to him where I crashed or who I crashed with.

They could battle over my body all they wanted. None of them could reach my soul.

My soul belonged to him alone.

Once room assignments were locked down, the cleaning bots kicked into gear. Alistair took over kitchen duty.

After claiming his first-floor space, he grabbed an apron and got down to business.

Caramel milk pudding was first on the list—Elara’s favorite.

Meat was non-negotiable. He’d snagged fresh vegetables from Elara’s greenhouse, so potato and brisket stew made the cut, along with cheese omelets, a fruit spread, and seared steak. One steaming dish after another hit the counter.

Elara’s POV

When I wandered downstairs, Alistair was wrapping up the final veggie dish.

I’d called him the most "husband material" of the bunch before. Totally accurate. Something about him in that apron just amplified the whole vibe.

And those looks? Yeah. Pure eye candy.

I snuck up behind him and slipped my arms around his waist, giving him a gentle squeeze. "Looking good, Commander Alistair."

Alistair grinned: "Elara, everyone’s here."

He wasn’t bothered. Just didn’t want me feeling weird later—especially with that rabbit ready to choke on his own jealousy.

"Sweetheart?" I smiled.

Alistair went completely still.

I called out louder: "Sweetheart."

His breathing hitched. I hadn’t used that name in ages.

"You’re all mine," I said. "No need to hold back just to keep things even. Like right now—I want to hug you. You gonna tell me no?"

He shook his head. He’d never refuse. He wanted more. But there was only one me, so he kept restraining himself, over and over.

"About what you said earlier," I pointed to my lips, "you owe me an apology."

Alistair caught on immediately. He leaned down, lifted me with one arm, and kissed me.

Long moments passed before he finally broke away. My cheeks were burning. Alistair pressed his forehead against mine: "Is your period giving you trouble?"

I’d spent half the day sleeping without eating. That had him worried. Nobody knew me better—I was usually active and constantly hungry. If I was sprawled around avoiding food, something was definitely off.

"Not really," I said. "Just wiped out."

God, his voice is so gentle. If I weren’t on my period, I’d jump him right here.

"I made caramel pudding," Alistair said. "The male handbook claims sweets help during a female’s cycle."

"You actually studied how to be a husband, didn’t you?" I cupped his face and planted a big kiss on him.

One kiss in, and Julian yanked me backward: "Busy as always, my lady."

Barrett jumped in: "Kiss him, then me?"

I wanted to vanish: "Everyone caught that?"

"Classic line. Impossible to miss," Barrett said.

The whole crew had gathered, and Dorian appeared too. The little leopard pushed through the others and buried his face in my lap: "Elara, can you please rein in your husband?" he whined. "That rabbit actually drugged me."

He slumped down, resting his chin on my chest: "Full dose in the water," he continued, all pathetic. "I was out all afternoon. Look—there’s still a mark on my face from sleeping. Doesn’t he realize a male’s face is crucial?"
