Chapter 6: Why Do Tsunderes Have to Appear Arrogant?

Chapter 6

Anastasia, the second daughter of Baron Krestic. She had ashen hair like his that cascaded behind her. She had a slim figure yet not to the point of being skinny. Her face was flawless without a dark spot and long eyelashes. Her nose and bone cheeks are sharp.

Ashton clicked his tongue looking at her. ’Seeing her real life and imagining thorough reading is a completely different experience.’

"Ashton. Meet Anastasia Superbia. My second daughter." Then Krestic looked at Anastesia. "Anastesia, this will be your royal retainer. Be sure to properly communicate with each other."

Anastasia curiously scanned him from head to toe. Gradually a frown and disdain could be seen in her eyes. "Father, he is just a commoner, and I can’t feel any kind of Life Essence from him. How can you pick up someone like him?"

Ashton’s eyelids twitched. ’Miss, can you at least talk about this privately? There are sensitive people here.’

Fortunately, Krestic was here to speak up for him. "Anastasia, don’t judge him like that. I am picking him because of his nonexistent background and literary knowledge. You should know how hard it is to find someone who speaks well but is from a low background."

"But-"

"No buts." Krestic sternly spoke, shutting down her. "It is not like he will always be weak. You take him to the training ground and have him spark his Inner Bon. Who knows? He might even awaken a more powerful ability than you."

Anastasia furrowed her eyebrows, clearly offended that someone of lowly status could match her bearing or even surpass her. "Hmph. Come with me. I want to see what kind of thing you are."

Meanwhile, Ashton was surprised and delighted at the same time. He was worried about finding a chaos shard and didn’t expect Krestic would help him instead. He was expecting Krestic would not make him stronger because he picked him up, for he wasn’t stronger to begin with.

However, after pondering properly, he understood why Krestic was doing this. ’Krestic is a cautious person, and he will eliminate anything that makes him worried. I have no force behind me, nor do I have any kind of strength. So he is cultivating me, making me his loyal follower, indebted to him for his help, and additionally, he can keep an eye on Anastasia simultaneously.’

But Krestic didn’t know he was inviting a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

"Thank you, Baron Krestic. I am eternally indebted to you." All of a sudden, Ashton bowed and spoke with reverence. If one listened closely, they could hear the sound of saliva choking.

"It’s fine. Everything I am doing is for my daughter. If you can’t protect my daughter, then what use are you for me?" Despite saying that, Krestic appeared satisfied with Ashton. "Now go. You will follow my daughter and do everything she requests."

"Baron Krestic. I promise I will not disappoint you." Ashton vowed solemnly before following Anastasia out of the room.

Ashton walked behind Anastasia so he couldn’t see her face now, but if one saw her, they would be shocked by the overwhelming disdain flowing through her face.

It didn’t take long before they arrived at the training ground. It was at the back side of the mansion, surrounded by stone walls. Two rows of basic weapon racks could be seen beside the entrance.

It was early in the morning, so there would be some mansion guards and a few personnel practicing. But Ashton saw no one but an old butler standing, probably waiting for them.

"Butler Shen, are you here to oversee the process?" Anastasia was surprised to see this old man. He was the chief butler of the mansion and a very close person to her father. Even she has seen him only a few times.

"Yes, Miss... I was ordered by the master." Butler Shen nodded his head. Moving the towel hiding his left hand, he revealed a brownish-red-colored, sharp, thin gem—the Chaos Shard. He then looked at Ashton and said. "Please, take this and sit cross-legged in the middle of the training ground."

"Okay." Ashton took the chaos shard and went to the middle. He wasn’t surprised to see this old man supervise the process. Because Butler Shen was Krestic’s partner in crime and the most trusted subordinate. He was also at Silver Ring, Refinement 1.

After Ashton sat down cross-legged, he didn’t start the process by himself despite knowing it better than anyone. Instead, he asked Butler Shen, feigning ignorance. "What should I do next? Do I have to eat this gem shard or crush it to start the process?"

Before Butler Shen could speak, Anastasia scoffed. "It looks like you know at least something about this gem and probably even Life Rings. Well, the basic knowledge about this has already been circulated outside by many. If you didn’t know about at least this stuff, then I would have begged Father to get you revoked from being my royal retainer."

"So, listen carefully. Every person in this world has a Life Palace inside them. We do not know where that space is in the body, but we do know we can use the Chaos Shard to enter there and unlock our Life Palace. The Chaos Shard is like keys, so after you use it to open your Life Palace, it will disappear."

"In the Life Palace, one had to first undergo a trial set by the Life Palace itself. After completing the trial, you will arrive before your Inner Bon. Just like the trial, everyone’s Inner Bon is also different. If you have a rudimentary understanding of your Inner Bon then you can spark it using your Life Essence."

"After that you will start your journey to Ringer. Do you understand?" After exclaiming everything, Anastasia glared at Ashton. It was as if even if he uttered he couldn’t do a small part, she would start beating him.

Fortunately, Ashton knew everything, even some secrets about it. But he couldn’t say it right now, as it didn’t matter much now. It was a story of later.
