Chapter 35: Only Twisted Mind Could Create Such Things

Chapter 35

Plague Extinguisher. An elite boss at Bronze, Refinement 3. He was the gatekeeper guarding the chains holding the iron cage. He was a boss who could be placed in the top three of this Filth Drop.

Ashton clenched his sword tightly as he watched the Plague Extinguisher begin moving.

"If you don’t leave. Then I shall..." The Plague Extinguisher’s beak opened like skin getting torn apart. Flesh pulsated with black enzymes writhing. He inserted his right hand into his mouth, pulling out a metal cane with a snake skull on top. "...escort you out."

After the Plague Extinguisher finished speaking, he rushed toward their direction.

Angel Maria’s wings unfurled behind Anastasia as she went ahead to meet the Plague Extinguisher head on.

’Increase movement speed by 10%.’

Ashton followed behind Anastasia, trying to remain as close to her as possible.

Ding!

The tip of Anastasia’s spear and the Plague Extinguisher’s cane clashed, causing sparks to fly. In their first exchange, Anastasia flew back a few meters; meanwhile, the Plague Extinguisher took one step behind.

’Why does a doctor have such strength?’ Anastasia questioned herself as she watched Ashton try to land a follow-up attack.

The Plague Extinguisher swung his cane, easily neutralizing Ashton’s attack. Ashton didn’t back away seeing his attack fail. Instead, he rained a barrage of attacks, pressing the Plague Extinguisher to only focus on him, exposing Anastasia with various opportunities.

Witnessing Ashton create such a golden opportunity for her, Anastasia flew past them and did a U-turn in the air. She then shot herself as fast as possible to penetrate the Plague Extinguisher’s head.

Meanwhile, as Anastasia was doing all of this, the Plague Extinguisher’s opened once again. He raised his head up, pointing it toward the ceiling as he parried each of Ashton’s attacks.

Ashton’s eyes widened as he saw purple smoke begin to drift out from the Plague Extinguisher’s mouth. He backed away while shouting at Anastasia. "Stop. Make as much distance as possible!"

Anastasia frowned as she looked at the Plague Extinguisher, which was unprotected. She didn’t want to let go of such an opportunity, yet she listened to Ashton. She halted, created a gust of wind with her wings, and flew as far away as possible.

On the other side, Ashton had a scowl on his face. "Curse you, author. With what mindset did you design this as the beginner boss? Look at the way this guy is standing still. If only you didn’t give him a poison ability that paralyzes you for ten seconds. Just should have given him an instant-death ability instead. At least there wouldn’t be any suffering."

Ashton rubbed his chin, pondering. "But to kill it, it looks like I have to adapt to the original way Rias and Anastasia killed him. The question is can I contend with his second form?"

Ashton walked backwards, trying to get away from the purple smoke spread everywhere. He sighed after gathering his thoughts. "I...I can’t. I am not the protagonist. I might have trained, but I only know basic stuff. Only someone like the protagonist who has innate strength and hidden skills can contest something so absurd. Now the one who can somewhat match is Anastasia."

"I guess I will take that position then. Ten seconds of pain is nothing. I just hope she can hold on until I recover." Ashton walked forward as the purple smoke was being retracted back inside the Plague Extinguisher. The purple smoke wasn’t unlimited inside him and, as his jail free card,

He wouldn’t let it go for just one usage.

"Press him once again!" Ashton rushed forward, shouting loud for Anastasia to hear.

Even before Anastasia heard Ashton’s voice, she had already begun to fly toward the Plague Extinguisher.

A sign of panic appeared on the Plague Extinguisher’s face as it once again emitted purple smoke.

Anastasia once again halted in her flight and began to back away.

"Huh?" All of a sudden, Anastasia saw Ashton running toward the Plague Extinguisher as if the purple smoke weren’t visible to him. ’What is he doing?’

Before she could say anything, he had already arrived before the Plague Extinguisher with the purple smoke entering his body.

"You really love spamming this move, cowardly doctor." Ashton’s face showed annoyance as he swung his sword, separating the Plague Extinguisher’s head from its body.

Thud! x2

Afterwards, both of their bodies stiffened and dropped down on the ground like wooden planks. The purple smoke also began to vanish into thin air.

"Ashton!" Anastasia rushed forward in panic.

Raising his head with great difficulty, Ashton spoke before his body fully gave up. "...kill...him..."

Bud!

His head hit the ground with his eyes wide open. Various parts of his body began to wriggle from time to time.

"Kill him?" Anastasia rushed, now with confusion written on her face. "Didn’t he kill him? Then why—"

Anastasia’s voice came to a halt, and so did her flight once again!

She watched in horror as limbs began to grow out of the severed Plague Extinguisher’s head. They began to enlarge, reaching the same muscle mass of an ox’s hind leg. Of the three, two promoted themselves to help the Plague Extinguisher’s body to stand up. Finally, the three overgrown masses of meat began to dance wildly in the air with the Plague Extinguisher’s body supporting them.

All of a sudden, one of the limbs shot toward Anastasia. She was barely able to react to its speed, as she was only able to raise a spear to block it.

"Blarg!" Anastasia coughed up blood the moment she felt the attack’s impact. ’This strength!"

The Plague Extinguisher which she struggled with in raw strength, now had that increased threefold!

Bang!

Anastasia’s body smashed into the floor. Her body slid as chunks of stone flew around her.

After going for a while, she finally stopped. She knelt on her right knee, using her bent spear as a support.

Blarg

She puked out another puddle of blood with her hands visibly shaken.
