’Just like in the original, explaining word for word. But why did the author choose such a shitty term to rank the Filth Drops? The name is so cool, but the ranks are something that is made by an eight-year-old. ’ Ashton thought to himself and cursed the author at the same time.
"Puddles only contain Filths ranging from Bronze refinement 1 to Bronze refinement 3. Perfect for new Ringers aka you guys." Dean Hong Ling grinned, a brilliant plan slowly forming in his mind. "Killing Filths can automatically add Life Essence to your body. The higher the strength of the Filth the greater the amount of life essence you receive. Some Filths also drop skills, weapons, and specials. So in all, Filths are the fastest way to become stronger."
"Students! Aren’t you tempted?" Dean Hong Ling spoke loudly, reaching every corner of the academy.
"Don’t you want to surpass your peer beside you?"
Everyone looked to their side, exchanging glances, and a blazing fighting intent ignited.
"Don’t you want to clear this Filth Drop and bring glory to your name? Who in the future can boldly claim they cleansed a Filth Drop just as they were about to enroll in the academy?"
Many exhaled deeply like an ox, thinking of the respect they would receive, shedding their lowly status. The royal descendents’ eyes sparked, thinking of their chances of inheriting the thrones.
"So, students. Should I take the second test, cleansing the Filth Drop?"
"YES!!!"
"WE WANT FILTH DROP! WE WANT FILTH DROP! WE WANT FILTH DROP!"
A loud roar reverberated throughout the academy, completely making everyone shift their focus on the main academy field. Even the residents bordering the academy walls became curious.
"What happened?"
"I don’t know. I have never seen this much energy on an enrollment day before."
"It’s like they are about to go to war."
Meanwhile, Ashton’s face darkened. He had read this part, which he felt was funny, and admired Dean Hong Ling’s skill to rile up youngsters so easily. But not that he was experiencing face-to-face; he couldn’t help but feel embarrassed as he was also affected by the energy permeating in the air. Almost shouting with them.
"Good. Good. Good. As the dean, I have decided to listen to my students’ decision, having the second test take place in the Filth Drop. The one who can kill a Filth and come back alive will pass the test, having the eligibility to join Ironheart Academy. As for the one who cleanses the entire Filth Drop—killing the Source Drop—they can become my personal disciple."
After Dean Hong Ling finished speaking, everyone became frozen before erupting in a frenzy.
"We... Do we have the chance to become a disciple of Dean Hong Ling?
"This is a heaven-sent opportunity! Heaven sent opportunity!"
"I have to cleanse the Filth Drop to secure my position."
"I have the chance to wash away the shame you gave me, Laymer!"
The fuel of passion was added to everyone’s already burning heart.
Ashton watched Anastasia and Rias too get excited. Well, who wouldn’t be? Becoming a dean’s personal disciple holds significant speaking power in the kingdom because whoever has become a dean’s disciple has achieved great success in their life. Some were even better than the dean they were taught under.
’What a death trap!’ Ashton shook his head in dismay. In here, many knew about Filths while some didn’t, but no one here had ever fought against a Filth. So they don’t know what they were truly up against, and more importantly...
"Oh, I forgot. Once you enter a Filth Drop, you can only leave after cleansing it completely. So good luck to everyone." Dropping this sudden bombshell, Dean Hong Ling disappeared.
The cold air from the underworld swept everyone, sending chills to most of the people’s hearts. Even the royal descendants who knew about this regained clarity in their minds as their faces turned grave.
"I always hated this Dean Hong Ling guy. He looks like a kind old man who can’t cross a road, but his heart is full of impure thoughts." Beside Ashton, Lovia sneered softly.
Listening to her, Ashton sighed. "You can’t blame him. He grew up in this world, not ours. So, he might have noble goals, but those impure thoughts make questionable decisions."
Dean Hong Ling had made many such questionable decisions in the future. As a head of a student body, who in his right mind would let his soon-to-be student do a test that could lead to their deaths, especially when most weren’t even proficient with any kind of skill?
It is like sending a five-year-old with a gun to kill a bear.
Ashton looked at Rias, who was clenching his fists tightly. ’The time has come, Mr. Protagonist. Get on the stage and show the grandest performance.’
Rias, raging with the fire of revenge, felt the hope of finally extinguishing it. If he could get the help Dean, then things he wouldn’t dare to think would be in the realm of possibility.
"Let’s go. We can’t stay behind or someone might snatch this spot." Rias spoke in haste as he began taking steps forward.
However, Ashton and Lovia grabbed each of Rias’s shoulders, stopping him.
"Rias, wait. You have to calm down or we might be the first to die." Lovia spoke with concern.
"That’s right. Doesn’t matter when we go. We don’t know the path ahead, so we mind getting lost easily and look; the instructors are doing something. Most likely gouging for any uncertainty." Ashton warned with a smile.
At this early stage it was normal for the protagonist to be hot-blooded, which will later get hammered down. But now it was not the same world he knew entirely. Worrying about misshapes, he stopped him.
"Yes. Rias. If we fight together, then I don’t think anyone can stop us." Anastasia also advised Rias. She can’t let her teammate make a mistake and cost his life in exchange.
She also felt that if anything happened to Rias, the most heartbroken would be her.
’I suddenly do not understand what is wrong with me. It feels like I am not thinking to myself.’
