Wait, System! Stop Helping The Protagonist!

Chapter 29: Show Love To The Nurses

Chapter 29

"Hey, stop dozing over there and help me!" From the corner of her eyes, Lovia saw Ashton finally finish his fight, but instead of helping her, he was standing there quietly. ’What is wrong with this guy? Every now and then this guy will freeze, and a lady is in trouble. Doesn’t he have the chivalrous heart of a young man?’

Ashton snapped out of his sea of thought and looked over at Lovia.

"Coming, coming." Embarrassed, Ashton rushed forward to help her.

With their joint combination, it didn’t take more than a few seconds to kill the Baby Holder—mostly by baiting Lovia.

"Phew~ Fighting is scary. Oh my hubby, when will you be strong enough to make me a paradise? Oh, I want to have our kids running all over the field and us playing inside...hehehe.... " Lovia let out a deep breath, letting her imagination soar to the clouds.

Black lines appeared on Ashton’s face hearing her. "Lady, please keep indecent thoughts inside you. This is a non-smut story."

"Hmph! What do you know? It’s just because of a restriction from the editor that the author didn’t write it. Did you think a harem story wouldn’t have smut? Oh, the author made so many steamy, non-smutty Chapters." Lovia blushed thinking of reading those Chapters.

Ashton clenched his fists in frustration. Of course he knew how horny the author was, wanting to write smuts, but the editor blocked him from doing so. Yet reading those Chapters’ subtle smut Chapters made Ashton’s little brother stand up in rage!

"Pl...please...don’t...di...die..."

A silent whisper, full of hope and malice, entered their ears, sending shivers down their spine.

Immediately, Ashton went into his fighting stance. "We will discuss the book later. Let’s find a way to kill this thing first."

"Yes." Lovia also went on with her amateur fighting stance before asking. "But how will you kill her without properly killing the mobs on this side of the ward? You know the other side also has..."

Lovia didn’t continue, but Ashton understood what she meant. Just like the Blood Curled Nurse, another Filth on the same level as her was on the other end of the ward.

In the story, Rias and Anastasia struggled way too hard to kill these elite Filths, with Anastasia almost dying, and that was after they cleared the mobs of the entire ward.

Ashton couldn’t think of what kind of nuance these mobs will be.

"We will think about that later. First we have to kill her, as this is the best option right now."

Lovia nodded her head as she also felt this suggestion was optimal.

Ashton turned his head back and shouted towards Rias and Anastasia, who were still aggroing most of the Baby Holders and clearing them.

"Anastasia! Rias! Try to safely kill these Filths as fast as possible! We are holding a big guy here!"

Anastasia and Rias also knew about the sudden surge of Filth Energy. However, because they were fighting the most, they paid little attention. Now finding a momentary rest, they glanced at the direction of the source and were immediately left shocked to their core.

They even began to wonder if it was possible for them to fight it. But when their gazes landed on Ashton’s and Lovia’s resolute faces, they also hardened themselves.

’We will kill this thing. Together!’

Seeing Rias and Anastasia go into a frenzy, Ashton let out a sigh of relief.

"You really know their belief to the core. Is it really that easy to manipulate them?" Lovia teased, with a smirk on her face.

"Oh, shut up. It isn’t like yo—"

Ashton stopped abruptly along with Lovia. Their eyes widened as they got hit with the wave of Filth Energy, pulling them inside a memory lane.

...

"Nurse, can...can my grandson live?"

An old man asked on his sickly bed.

"Why? Why do gods punish us?"

A mother clutching her dead malnourished daughter.

"This disease is all her fault! All hers!

A father kneeling before his mother’s death bed.

"Sister, kill her! Kill her!"

A child tugged a worried nurse’s hem of the clothing.

"This all happened because of her. We have to end her life. You have to kill her!"

A doctor urged the nurse with her teary face.

"I... I am sorry."

The nurse pleaded as she sliced open the throat of a kind, loving mother that would put any woman to shame.

...

"Lingering Reality." Lovia woke up with tears in her eyes.

Ashton looked more composed than her, and it was because he was holding back his tears. "Only after experiencing it did I understand what kind of deepest emotion the Lingering Reality can invoke."

Lingering Reality, the phenomenon when a person first gets into contact with Filth’s energy for the first time and gets flashbacks of the most important moments of Filth’s last moment on the Origin Realm. However, not all Filths can release them; only special Filths could.

"Please, don’t...die..."

This time, a much clearer yet breathy speech could be heard. They both looked forward simultaneously and finally saw the most memorable first mini-boss of the story.

Blood Curled Nurse. She was wearing a white apron with brown puffy sleeves underneath. That white symbolizing their purity was no more as blood flowed out of her faceless face, dying the apron in crimson blood. Her hair tied into a bun, still following her work code. In her right hand was a scalpel. Meanwhile, her left arm had countless needles inserted like a porcupine.

"A Bronze, Refinement 3, mini boss." Ashton whispered under his breath. Looking at Lovia, he asked. "Can you do it?"

Taking a deep breath, Lovia spoke with great resolve. "I will try to keep up."

Ashton nodded his head, satisfied. "That is all I need to hear."

Then he looked at the Blood Curled Nurse. She slowly walked towards them, leaving behind a large trail of blood.

"Nurse. Let us end your suffering. You have done enough." Ashton said as he slowly walked towards her.
