Wait, System! Stop Helping The Protagonist!

Ashton walked through the streets, humming a tune with his hands inside his pant pockets, which couldn’t hold anything with how badly they were torn. So, the gold coin he got from Baron Krestic, he put inside his shirt pocket.

Ashton finally knew where he was and what point in the story he was in.

This town is called Maple Star. It was located in the south-east of the world. It was a small town under Baron Krestic. They are from the House of Superbia, one of the four houses in the Gaia Kingdom.

This Baron Krestic had two daughters but no son. However, he doted on them heavily. No matter what requests they had, he would fulfill them. He was also very lenient on his servants. He was a great father and a kind ruler.

Summarised, Krestic was the ideal royal one wants to see.

But only Ashton knew what kind of man he was. When he first read the story, he also assumed he was one of the good guys that would help on the protagonist’s journey. Yet, when he got to the end of the first arc, he thought to himself how naive he was. This guy made the heretics look tame, and his ambition was greater than the emperor’s.

As Ashton was thinking to himself, he already arrived inside his home. Sitting on the bed, he asked with a frown. "System, can you give me something? I just started and can die anytime with my measly power. You do not want to see your host die before he could save some of the plot?"

[ Do you want to receive it? ]

A smirk formed on Ashton’s face. He had somewhat figured out his system. No matter what he asked, the system would stay silent, but when he mentioned the protagonist or the plot, the system would give a response, either positive or negative.

However, this also made his mood sour. "System, is your host me or the protagonist?"

The usual silence came from the system.

"Forget it. Give me the newbie reward." Ashton shook his head in dismay. He decided to leave it for now. He needed the system now. Even some leeks from the system were very helpful for him who had nothing in this world.

Ashton went from expressionless to jumping with joy. "No way! I got the Limitless Eyes!"

Out of all of these things, the only one that grabbed his attention was this Limitless Eyes. He remembers that it was the eyes of a Celestial Divine named "The Untouched Commoner". When the protagonist reached a certain stage in the story, he began to learn about it. Unfortunately, this Celestial Divine was already dead by then and among his treasures, most sought after were his eyes which were called "Limitless Eyes"

It was said "Limitless Eyes" could perceive anything and had the ability to reconstruct anything. From abilities, skills, weapons, and items; to anything you can name, it was possible. Because of this, he was also the most feared being in the entire story. Many had speculated that if he were present, the protagonist wouldn’t have to do anything because the legends this being also left can be called epic!

"Quick, give it to me!" Ashton said with madness.

At that moment, Ashton’s vision darkened. He couldn’t smell or breathe, and he even felt he had lost the sense of touch. He felt something was being lost inside him, and somehow subconsciously he knew he would lose his life if he lost that.

Then two small dots of light began to expand, bringing back his senses. In which Ashton felt an eternity pass by and finally saw what those two sources of light were.

A pair of dark eyes that built the background of space. Stars of different sizes and colours floated silently, sometimes a black hole consuming them. However, various elements swam in to fill the empty spots again with stars, spewing out meteors and comets, bringing life to the places they crash. There was no fixed direction where these celestial bodies could go, and in the centre of these eyes was an infinity symbol that acted as the iris. The symbol was full of colour on one side and black and white on the other.

When Ashton’s eyes rested there, his mind got flooded with various truths and secrets of the universe that he couldn’t perceive. He screamed his lungs out, but here no sound came out.

Just as he was about to lose himself, he heard the system’s voice.

[ Limitless Eyes has been successfully bound ]

Ashton’s vision regained colour as he once again saw that holed-up roof. Feeling his face wet, he touched it to see what it was. His eyes shrank as he saw it was blood. He sat up and picked the small mirror on the desk.

Facing the mirror, he saw blood flowing out of his eyes starting to dry up. He looked carefully and saw his eyes had changed just a little. A shallow infinity symbol could be seen in the center of his eyes, the same one he saw in that strange space.

Ashton went to a bucket filled with water and began cleaning his face. "System, can you tell me what just happened?"

"I see." Ashton acted calm, as he expected the system to not answer. Instead, he decided to explore these pairs of legendary eyes by himself. As he focused his mind onto them, his vision enhanced. The distant fly hovering in the corner, which he could just see as blurry, was now in 8k. Every moment its wings fluttered, he could see it in slow motion. He could also see its eyes looking at him.

Ashton also saw various elemental particles swimming around him. He knew these were the essential foods to grow as a strong being in this world.

Ashton believes he can make these elemental particles obey him with just a single word.

And this was without fully awakening and without any kind of mastery.

Thinking this, Ashton sucked in a cold, damp breath. "This... this is too OP!"
