Wait, System! Stop Helping The Protagonist!

Chapter 12: Youth! Spring of Love!

Chapter 12

"Hmmm, Miss... The air in Sunset City smells of wealth." Ashton took a deep breath after getting out of the carriage.

"Don’t talk to me ever." Anastasia walked into the two-story manor that was under Krestic. Meanwhile, the coachman quietly took Anastasia’s bags to drop them off at the manor. He had to stay as far as possible from these two or he might become insane.

These two had been arguing throughout the journey. Even while sleeping, they will randomly poke at each other.

If one didn’t know their relation, one could assume they were siblings.

’Finally arrived at Sunset City. The birth of the protagonist’s journey," Ashton thought to himself as he walked into the manor to rest. They had a long journey from Maple Leaf Town to Sunset City.

Ashton didn’t know the distance properly, but he could estimate it was a total distance of two medium-sized countries. They had to take three teleportation portals to arrive here, yet it still took an entire day. If they didn’t take the teleportation portals, it would take two weeks minimum.

Slumping onto the guest room bed, he became bored. Today, there was nothing to do except practice. But Ashton didn’t want to do it. Who in their right mind would still work after a journey?

’Hehehe... Let’s talk to Yalina then.’

From the system space, he took out a Soul-link butterfly. It fluttered its ocean-blue wings and gently landed on Ashton’s chest.

Soul-link butterflies are a special creature that doesn’t attack anyone. They can be tamed and be kept as pets for their beautiful appearance. However, most people use them for communication. If a soul-link butterfly mates with another soul-link butterfly of the opposite gender, they create a special link with each other through their souls. So no matter how far the distance is, any sound can be sent through their soul link.

Depriving one’s close bond to keep the bond you like is cruel but also the truth of this world.

If you do not have the strength, then you are always at the mercy of the one stronger than you.

Ashton first smoothed this soul-link butterfly’s heart. This one mated with Yalina’s, while he had another one that connects to Krestic and that is kept inside system space too.

This one loves its mate deeply, so whenever he is far away, it will whimper quietly. "Hey, buddy. Don’t be sad. You will be able to stay by your lover’s side every day when your miss can stay beside your master every day. So connect with your lover so that Miss can leave us."

After a moment of silence a voice came.

"Ashton."

"Yalina, I miss you so much."

"I miss you too. It feels so lonely without you."

"Same here. I want to stay by your side always. I want to hug you tightly when I sleep. Oh, you are like a cloud to me."

"Hehehe... someone is a bit naughty today. It looks like you miss me too much. So, sweet talk to me more than I ever did. I can give a big reward~"

"Bi-big reward! Oh baby, what can be bigger than your heart, where I want to rest eternally~"

Just like that, the room was filled with youth!

...

At an average restaurant in Sunset City.

A boy at the age of twenty looked around his surroundings. After seeing no one paying attention to him, he quietly left without paying for the table.

When he was far away from the restaurant, loud curses and yelling began to fill the streets. Finding a secluded alley nearby, he delved deeper into it. Seeing no one around him, he took out a Soul-link butterfly from a small bag. Instead of telling it to connect to the other end, he bit his fingertips and let it dye in his blood.

Closing his eyes, he began to chant in an unknown language. As he finished chanting, the soul-link butterfly squirmed in pain, turning dark red. From it came a deep, manly voice, accompanying the sound of flesh and bone shattering.

"Are you there?"

"Yes, Lord Balmond." The boy spoke with caution. "I arrived at Sunset City, as you said. But I have yet to see the person you are searching for."

"You don’t have to rush. You just have to kill before he reaches me, but I will be satisfied if you end him as fast as possible."

"Lord Balmond, I will try my best."

"If you can kill that boy fast, I will give you the position of an archdemon."

The boy’s eyes glowed with greed when he heard that. "Thank you, Lord Balmond. You just wait for good news."

"Hmm. I will be waiting, and I am also curious about the Earth you mentioned. How can a world be out of reach from beings like us?" Lord Balmond suddenly laughed out loud. "Kid named Lohen. Are you sure you are the only one able to reach our world?"

Lohen said solemnly. "I am absolutely sure only I was able to reach this world. If anyone ever did, we would have already known about it on Earth."

Meanwhile, Lohen secretly thought to himself. ’Of course, there is no one. How can someone transmigrate into a book? Even in this magical place that is not possible.’

"Good to hear that. Someone with your talent can only be called average on Earth; it somewhat scares this Lord." Lord Balmond spoke in a grave tone. "Okay, I am closing the connection. There is a new star to conquer."

"Good luck, my Lord."

Bang!

The Soul-link butterfly exploded, smearing red blood on Lohen.

"Can’t you have a better way of communicating? My clothes get ruined every time." Lohen whined as he wiped the blood away as rapidly as possible. The clothes might be already stained, but he had to make it as little as possible to save his time washing the clothes later.

After he was done, he put on new clothes from the same small bag.

As he walked out of the alley, he spoke softly with a big grin on his face. "Dear Protagonist, where are you?~"
