Chapter 18: Peace Is A Rare Delicacy That Tastes Otherworldly When You Eat It

Chapter 18

As the newly found duo approached Anastasia and Rias, they found them conversing, mostly Anastasia questioning and Rias answering.

"Oh, what do we have here? Did you make a new friend, Miss?" Ashton teased, very happy to see them getting along.

"Yes. You don’t know this guy’s talent is even greater than yours! He said he sparked his Inner Bon in under thirty minutes!" Anastasia started singing praises of Rias as she found a glimmer of hope to hammer Ashton’s ego down. Simultaneously, she was also very shocked.

Despite knowing this fact, he acted surprised. "Wow, there is someone with a stronger talent than me! Sure enough. There are worlds beyond worlds! Unfortunately, I won’t be able to see my miss on that stage ever." In the end, he shook his head in disappointment.

"What do you mean by that?" Anastasia squinted her eyes, questioning with a hint of threat.

And just like the clouds keep drifting in the sky, they also started bickering with a touch of fire.

Meanwhile, Lovia reprimanded Rias. "Rias, didn’t I tell you when someone asks about your talent, just under-exaggerate as much as possible?"

"But Miss Anastasia didn’t make me feel cautious, and she has an air of innocence. Also, I didn’t completely tell her everything." On Rias’s cold face, finally guilt could be seen.

"I know." Lovia laughed to herself, helpless. "I know she will be your female companion, but at least have some shred of vigilance. Sigh~ Is that the fate of the book? Forcing itself no matter what the variable might be. But if fate is already trying its best to maintain the original story, then what is the point of Ashton’s mission?’

Lovia glanced at Ashton’s smug face before shaking away the unnecessary thoughts. Whatever happens, she just has to achieve her goals, and that is to be forever with Rias!

"But you haven’t told her about your Inner Bon? Did you?" Lovia asked, very eager to know.

"No, I didn’t. After you warned me. I have forcefully shut down the Inner Bon when conversing with someone. You made me realize how dangerous it would be if I spoke about my Inner Bon." Gratefulness flashed in Rias’s face as a smile could also be seen.

Lovia was mesmerized by that smile, blushing and completely forgetting her next words. She mustered up a few words, whispering audibly enough to hear. "It’s okay. It is my job to keep you safe."

Ashton, glancing at this secretly, became amused. ’If this girl keeps up like this, she might have the protagonist only infatuated with her.’

With nothing noteworthy happening, they finally ate their meals and went to sleep. For tomorrow’s combat test, they wanted to maintain the best condition possible.

The sun shone on the dew resting on grasses.

It also reminds the participants in the first who were still trying to make the Chaos Shards react. The more the sun rose in the sky, the heavier their backs felt from the pressure. This is their only chance to rise to prominence and shed the skin of commoners.

Meanwhile, the people inside the hall woke up from their leisurely sleep. The constant hustle and bustle acted as an alarm clock, waking up everyone.

Anastasia’s head poked out of her tent with messy hair and dark circles covering her eyes.

Following her was Lovia. She poked her head above Anastasia’s, accompanying the same jumbled mess as Anastasia’s.

Ashton and Rias were fully freshened and preparing for breakfast.

Seeing these two girls’ appearances like this, Ashton and Rias remained speechless.

Ashton never expected these two girls would go along so well. He heard constant chattering from inside the tent. They probably slept late after sharing all kinds of things all night.

Thinking of the development of last night made Ashton bewildered.

Lovia and Rias wanted to sleep together on their piece of cloth. With nothing to cover, they were open to the whole world. The royal retainers who were outside guarding had their eyes glued on her body. All kinds of luscious gazes swept over her. Making them both uncomfortable and angry.

Left with no choice, Rias begged Anastasia to let Lovia sleep inside her tent, and Anastasia agreed unhesitatingly.

Ashton knew Lovia would still be wary of Anastasia despite agreeing to Ashton’s request. But after this event, Lovia was nonchalant to Anastasia’s presence, and the way they acted was like two female besties.

Meanwhile, Rias and Ashton slept together, without touching each other, of course. They didn’t have the same development as the two girls.

Ashton wanted to stay neutral to the protagonist, as it would make many actions in the future possible for him.

On the other hand, Rias didn’t strike up a conversation with Ashton because he felt this guy was putting an invisible barrier on him with a note saying, "Stay Away From Me!"

"You guys quickly freshen up. We have to arrive at the field to draw numbers. This process will take a long time, so we should hurry to try to get a position in the front." Ashton reminded them as he finished preparing the breakfast.

"Okay, Okay." Anastasia yawned before tucking her head inside the tent.

"Rias, give me my spare clothes." Lovia ordered Rias, who complied accordingly.

Feeling this piece of a moment in his heart, Ashton thought to himself. ’If only I could spend my time on this world like this.’

But Ashton knew that was impossible. He wasn’t sure if he could prevent the piece of land beneath his feet from staying intact later in the story and save it from this second test.

Thinking of it made Ashton get a headache. Leading him to complain inwardly. ’What is wrong with authors all the time? Is it that hard to write a simple story without exciting twists? Okay, as readers, it is fun, but now that I am about to experience it myself, it feels too scary. I mean, I can die if I am not careful, and it is also bullshit that an academy would willingly conduct a test that can make their students die!’
