Chapter 36: Don’t Miss Any Chance!

Chapter 36

The Plague Extinguisher turned his body like an animatronic. He picked up Ashton’s body, lifting him above his head.

An opening appeared between the grown limbs as flesh was cut open. Then he lowered Ashton’s body to consume him whole.

At that moment, a silver streak appeared, snatching Ashton’s body from the Plague Extinguisher’s maw.

Anastasia carried Ashton in her arms while wobbling in the air. The injuries inflicted by the Plague Extinguisher still burned inside her body.

She laid down Ashton’s body at a safe distance before facing the Plague Extinguisher that was walking toward her.

She shot toward the Plague Extinguisher, waiting patiently for him to attack her.

The Plague Extinguisher lashed one of its limbs at Anastasia after she got close to him.

Anastasia dodged to the side as the limb grazed past her skin. She didn’t attack, finding this opening as another limb followed through. She flew away to get herself away from the limb’s reach.

She once again closed in on the Plague Extinguisher. This time the Plague Extinguisher’s two limbs extended on both sides. He wanted to clap hold of her.

Seeing this, Anastasia also knew what Plague Extinguisher wanted to do. So, she began to fly around him in circles, making the limb wildly dance in the air as it wasn’t able to catch her no matter what.

All of a sudden, the Plague Extinguisher bent his knees and launched himself in the air, shattering the floor into pieces. He jumped right on Anastasia’s flight path.

The speed at which it jumped was faster than Anastasia’s flying ability!

"What!" Anastasia exclaimed in shock. Now, she had no one to evade the attack that was coming straight at her. She had to parry or attack.

Remembering the outcome of their first exchange, she gritted her teeth, deciding to counterattack in return.

The Plague Extinguisher’s limbs combined together, forming a giant fist.

’This thing really knows my spear is useless.’ Anastasia thought to herself, watching the giant cannonball heading towards her.

Spears could only do two things, and that was thrust and swipe. Her spear, which was bent from defending the Plague Extinguisher’s first strike, couldn’t perform any form of thrust. On top of that, against a mass shooting canon.

At that moment, Anastasia remembered a set of actions Ashton did, which he called a sport. In her current situation, she wanted to try that.

She held her bent spear like a baseball bat and gathered every ounce of her strength. Strengthening her arm and spear with almost all of her Life Essence—keeping some in reserve to fly—she prepared herself to shoot this thing to the ground.

And that moment came instantaneously.

As the Plague Extinguisher loomed over Anastasia, she preemptively swung her spear.

Thump!

Wall. An indestructible wall she hit.

The bones on her arm cracked, having the possibility of breaking at any moment. Following them was her spear. It would have already broken if not for her strengthening with her Life Essence.

Yet she held on. She couldn’t let anyone stop her from getting what she wanted. Not even herself.

"AHHHHH!" Anastasia shouted to the top of her lungs. Gradually forcing the Plague Extinguisher backwards as she emptied her Life Essence. She didn’t even care about maintaining the Angel Maria’s Wings!

Shoosh!

The Plague Extinguisher shot down like a meteor. Beside him was Anastasia, as she had no strength to maintain her wings.

As she fell, she noticed a figure waiting on the Plague Extinguisher strike zone.

"Don’t go out yet!" Ashton shouted, throwing a spear at the place Anastasia would land.

Afterwards, Ashton did a clawing motion with his right hand at the Plague Extinguisher falling on him. He wanted to rip out the Plague Extinguisher heart, which was its only weakness and the only way to kill it.

Some might ask why Ashton didn’t do it in the first place instead of chopping the Plague Extinguisher’s head. It was because its inner body was protected by the limb that grew out of him. No one present on this Filth Drop could damage them except for Rias with his brute strength and Anastasia with her damage boost against Filths. Even if you have it remove the limbs protecting its body, its defensive body is still hard to damage. Only a capable few here could do that, and Ashton wasn’t on that list.

So one had to push the Plague Extinguisher to the second phase for them to kill it.

It arrived. The Plague Extinguisher as it crashed onto Ashton.

Leveraging the power of gravity and the force with which the Plague Extinguisher came down, Ashton’s claw tore through his body with the heart in his hands. In response, Ashton’s nails were torn open alongside his right hand’s skin melting from the poisonous blood.

Bang!

Ashton’s body smashed onto the floor, adding the weight of the Plague Extinguisher on top of him.

Pain. Unimaginable pain coursed through Ashton’s body. He wasn’t able to recover from the pain from his right hand before his entire body began to host insurmountable pain. He, who was always an ordinary person, has never experienced the pain of backbreaking, inner body part bleeding, skin torn apart, or nails clawed out.

Furthermore, all of them at the same time.

Ashton wanted to cry, moistening his entire face with his tears. Shout out the names of his parents to come and help him. Yet he didn’t. He held onto this pain deep in his heart. His right arm going through the Plague Extinguisher chest, he presented its heart in the world’s view.

As the Plague Extinguisher’s purple and black heart began to pulsate, it began to thrash. It wanted to be free from Ashton and take its precious heart, the source of its survival!

However, no matter how much force it used, it couldn’t escape from Ashton’s clutches.

Its limbs, filled with muscle and meat, weren’t flexible enough to reach Ashton under it. The mass it carried also made it hard to stand up easily, making Ashton just hold it down from certain angles.
