Evander’s POV

I woke up the next morning with a sharp, throbbing pain in my head, my mind struggling to piece together what had happened. I blink as the sunlight blurred my vision, trying to find out where I was!

"When... did I get here?" I murmured, confused, as I looked down and realized I was lying in my own bed. I sat up slowly as I clutched my head; the pounding ache made it hard to think straight.

"Good morning, Boss," a familiar voice greeted me. I looked up to see Zaniel standing there in his usual black suit; his expression was calm yet alert as he watched me.

"Zaniel..." I muttered, squinting my eyes at him. "How did I get home?"

"You were in quite a state last night, sir," he replied, a slight smirk playing at his lips. "One of the caretakers at the cemetery recognized you and called me. I figured it was best to get you back home and... have you settled for the night."

I let out a sigh as I leaned back against the headboard, the memories of last night slowly creeping back. "Thanks... I guess I wasn’t really myself."

"Not a problem, Boss," Zaniel replied, pouring a glass of water and handing it to me. "But you should probably take it easy today. That’s one serious hangover you have got."

I took the glass and drank slowly, grateful for the cool relief. "Yeah... I don’t plan on repeating last night anytime soon."

"Great!" Zaniel said, looking unfazed as he suddenly pulled out his tablet out of the blue, scrolling through my schedule. "First thing, you are meeting Old Madam at the hospital, then around noon, you have got an appointment with Mr. Storme to discuss his upcoming movie project. And in the evening..."

I cut him off, pressing my fingers to my temples as the headache pounded. "Wait, hold on," I muttered. "Why the hell am I meeting that bastard Damian?"

Zaniel raised an eyebrow, looking at me as if I had lost my mind. "You scheduled this meeting yourself a week ago," he said with a small shrug. "You are investing in his movie, as per his request."

"What the—!" I groaned, throwing the blanket off and getting out of bed. "When did I do that? Why would I even think of investing in his movie? That snake must have sweet-talked me when I was drunk and out!"

Zaniel stifled a laugh. "Well, he is good at what he does," he said, smirking. "So...are we still going, or should I cancel?"

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Cancel. No, wait... on second thought, keep it. I want to see what other nonsense he is planning."

Damian was my only friend who had been with me through out my hard times. It’s not like I wanted to keep him, but that brat... He stuck to me with all his might and he still was there with me.

"Understood," Zaniel replied. "Shall I prepare you some coffee while you decide on your revenge strategy?"

"Make it strong. I have got a feeling I am going to need it," I muttered as I rubbed my temples.

I headed toward the bathroom, pausing briefly at the door to look back at Zaniel. "And make sure the car is ready," I added. "We are leaving for the hospital right after I get that coffee."

Zaniel gave a quick nod, already typing away on his tablet. "Of course, sir. I will have everything prepared."

Claire’s POV

I woke up early in the morning, feeling something soft and warm sprawled across me. I blinked as I opened my eyes and squirmed a little, only to realize there was a tiny body draped over mine — little Eliam was beside me. He was fast asleep, his small arms wrapped around me in a gentle hug, his chubby cheek pressed against my bosom.

A smile crept onto my face as I looked down at him. His little hands felt soft and warm, were holding onto me tightly as if he would never let go. "Good morning, Eliam," I whispered softly, brushing a stray curl away from his forehead before leaning down to plant a gentle kiss there.

As I kissed him, a deep warmth spread through my chest, filling me with a calmness I hadn’t felt in ages. He stirred a little, scrunching his nose and clutching onto my clothes even tighter.

I chuckled softly, careful not to wake him fully. It was a rare, peaceful moment, and I wanted it to last just a little longer. However, soon the drunkard in the living room started pounding on the door.

"Hey! Open the door! Come out!" Sissy’s voice called from the other side of the door as she knocked loudly. I quickly opened it and rushed to quiet her down.

"Shh! Don’t make noise!" I whispered, pointing toward Eliam, who stirred a little in his sleep but didn’t wake.

Sissy’s quickly covered her mouth, and she whispered back, "Oops, sorry! I didn’t know he was still sleeping." She stepped in quietly, glancing over at Eliam. "Wait... Who’s this?" She realized a little late, as I could see her eyes almost popping out of her socket.

"Let’s go out and..." I said as I took her hand and walked to the living room, which was still messy after George’s mess.

"I am damn sure that it wasn’t me!" Sissy raised her hand in the air innocently. "What the hell happened here!?"

"I will explain to you later, but to inform you... we need to change this apartment soon," I pronounced. "My father... he had come to find me here!"

"What that old bastard! How could he do this to you?" Sissy clenched her fist in anger, but I calmed her down.

"OMG!" She jerked up suddenly and hugged me, while I pushed her away from myself.

"Darling, you reek of alcohol! Please stay away from me and take a hot shower first." I said with disgust on my face, which of course Sissy didn’t mind since it was normal for her.

"Leave that! We have got a good opportunity, and I am sure! This time... that white moonlight won’t be able to do anything!"
