"What? Arthur ran away?" General Aldric Voss’s voice thundered in the study. The room fell silent as he glared at his three sons, all standing at rigid attention in their military uniforms.

"How did you let this happen?" His fist slammed onto the table, making the steel cups rattle.

The eldest, Colonel Leif Voss, stepped forward, saluting. "General, I take full responsibility. Arthur... I mean Uncle, he was determined, but... We didn’t anticipate that he would—"

"You should always be careful, Leif" Aldric cut in sharply. "You let your own Uncle escape under your watch. This is unacceptable."

Leif’s jaw tightened as he stood even straighter next to him; his brother, Major Rhys Voss, commander of an armored division, spoke with urgency. "Father, give us a chance to correct this. I will personally lead the search."

Aldric’s sharp eyes shifted to him, but before he could respond, the youngest of the three scoffed.

"Tch. He ran away. So what? It’s not like he stole military secrets."

"Kieran," Leif warned in a low voice.

Lieutenant Kieran Voss, dressed in his navy-blue flight suit, stood with his arms crossed. He was a fighter pilot, he was reckless and defiant, he had little patience for formalities.

Aldric’s nostrils flared. "Speak again, Lieutenant Voss, and I will make you regret it."

Kieran sighed, then gave a sharp salute. "Understood, General."

Aldric’s glare darkened. "Arthur didn’t just leave—he abandoned his duty. He exposed himself when he should have remained in the shadows. He must come back ."

Leif inhaled deeply before speaking. "We will find him and bring him back."

"You’d better," Aldric growled. "Or I will."

The three brothers exchanged looks. They had their orders. Arthur would be found—before their father got to him first.

"Find him," Aldric ordered, his voice carrying the authority of a man who had commanded armies. "Before anyone finds out who we are and what his true identity is, drag him back home by hook or by crook!"

His sons stood straighter. They understood. Failure was not an option.

"Damn that uncle of mine!" Keiran exhaled sharply, rolling his eyes as he loosened the first few buttons of his uniform. The tension in the room was stifling. "How could he just run away from home without telling me?"

His sharp movements reflected his frustration, but beneath that, he felt exhaustion. He had planned to announce his departure from the military today. He had made this decision after he had wrestled with this idea for months. "I was here to tell you all that I am done being a fighter pilot. I am joining the family business."

"What? Are you serious?" Leif’s piercing glare met his, his posture rigid with disbelief. "Do you have a death wish? Saying that in front of Father—are you out of your mind?"

Keiran scoffed. "You better be careful," Leif warned, lowering his voice. "Even joking about leaving the military could put you on his bad side."

"Seriously?" Keiran’s jaw clenched, his fingers tapping impatiently against his belt. "I’m tired of this! I love business! But instead, I’m out there soaring through the sky, chasing after some enemy jet like my entire life depends on it! It’s not the dream I wanted!"

The weight of his words hung in the air, but no one refuted him. It was a dangerous thing to say in their family, but Keiran had never been one to bite his tongue.

With a shake of his head, he turned on his heels and walked away, leaving his brothers behind in stunned silence.

Claire’s POV

I was enjoying my time with the cast and crew when my eyes landed on Sissy. She stood in the corridor, pacing back and forth as her face was clouded with worry.

I excused myself and walked over to her. "What’s wrong?" I asked, concern lacing my voice as I stepped in front of her, stopping her movements. "Did something happen?"

Sissy let out a sharp breath as her anxious gaze met mine. "A lot!" she blurted out, her voice barely sounding steady. "My brother... He ran away from home, and he is doing something he shouldn’t be!"

Her words sent a jolt of unease through me. Her brother? But Sissy had never mentioned keeping in touch with her family. Since the day I had known her, she had sworn she wanted nothing to do with them. So how did she know about her brother leaving the house? Was she hiding something from me?

A series of questions flooded my mind, but I pushed them aside. Instead, I gently took her hand in mine. "Tell me... Is there anything I can do for you?"

Sissy hesitated as she looked at me. "Claire, aren’t you going to ask me anything?"

I met her gaze with a small smile. "What should I ask? Didn’t you say you ran away from your rich family because they tried to marry you off to some old man for business?"

She blinked, taken aback by my calmness. Truthfully, I had a thousand questions, but I knew Sissy. She would tell me when she was ready—just like I had done with her. I never openly shared everything about Evander and me with her at first, but over time, I found myself trusting her with everything.

If she had something to tell me, she would tell me eventually.

"What are you guys doing here?"

Damian’s voice made me turn. He approached us with Evander right behind him, but while Damian looked at Sissy, Evander’s sharp gaze was locked onto me, following my every move as he was ready to devour me at any moment!

"Nothing," I replied casually as I tried to avoid Evander’s heated gaze. "Sissy has some trouble with her family."

"What?" Damian’s expression instantly darkened as he turned to Sissy, his eyes filled with concern—almost too much concern. It made me suspicious about their relationship. "Sissy! Your brother... Has he finally started making moves?"

I frowned as I interrupted. "Wait! What’s going on here? How does Senior Damian know about your life—your brother—when I didn’t even know?"

Sissy’s body tensed up, running her fingers through her hair. She hesitated, glancing at Damian before meeting my questioning gaze. "I... I told Damian everything when I was drunk a week ago and that night..."

I narrowed my eyes. "Are you talking about the night you didn’t come home?"

Sissy gulped, avoiding my stare.

Just then, Evander’s voice cut through the tension. "Wait." His sharp eyes flicked to Damian, his expression unreadable. "Were you talking about Sissy when you said you made a huge mistake and might have taken advantage of someone?"

The air grew thick with tension. In a flash, Evander grabbed Damian by the collar, his jaw clenched.

"Answer me."

"I... I told you it was... I mean, it wasn’t a mistake, and I don’t regret it or anything," Damian stammered, his hands slightly trembling as Evander’s grip remained firm on his collar. "But... I think I made a huge mistake by making a move on someone drunk! I—"

Before he could finish, Sissy’s voice cut through his words.

"I wouldn’t have slept with someone if I wasn’t willing to... No matter how drunk I was," she stated firmly, her expression unreadable.

I opened my mouth to agree. "Yes, Sissy is right, and—" But then it hit me.

Wait. Sissy... with Damian?

I froze, my mind racing. Sissy, my best friend, and Damian, an actor? This wasn’t just about a drunken night. This was huge.

My stomach twisted as I clenched my fists. Keeping my voice as low as possible, I hissed, "You rascal! What have you two done behind our backs?"

I shot a glance at Evander, whose grip on Damian had tightened. His expression had darkened, and from the way his jaw clenched, I could tell he was barely holding back his anger.

This was going to get messy.

"Let’s go home! I want to talk to you all," Evander declared, his voice firm as he finally let go of Damian’s collar. He didn’t wait for a response, simply turning on his heels. "Follow me. Now."

Damian straightened his shirt, letting out a quiet sigh before nodding. I shot Sissy a look, silently telling her to come along.
