Caspian continued in a low and steady tone, exposing everything. Just as Damian had revealed, all those men had been sent by Evander’s mother, trying to harass him and force him to give in. The situation had gotten so bad that Elijah had almost given up on him. However, when Elijah threatened Gloria that he would hand everything over to Evander. Only then did Gloria finally quiet down a little. In the end, following the wishes of his grandmother, Elijah ended up marrying Lexi.

Caspian was heartbroken. It felt like his whole world had crumbled. The only person he had ever wanted in his life was now gone, leaving behind nothing but unbearable pain. Elijah didn’t even contact him — didn’t even bother to tell him that he was marrying Lexi.

Yes, Elijah had spoken to him once, mentioning the matter of marriage, but Caspian had never truly believed it would happen. He thought it was just a desperate attempt to escape Gloria, a problem they would eventually face together. He had never imagined that Elijah would actually go through with it, leaving him completely alone.

Caspian felt betrayed and wanted to disappear from the Earth. Everything he had fought for, everything he had hoped for, had shattered in an instant.

Until one day, everything changed again. Caspian was just finishing his shift and stepping out of the small restaurant where he worked part-time when he saw her — Lexi. The woman who had married the man he loved. His steps faltered, and for a moment, he forgot how to breathe. He stood frozen, unsure of how to act, how to even face her.

Lexi approached him with a warm smile, which made him confused. "Hello, I am Lexi," she introduced herself cheerfully, as if they were nothing more than strangers meeting for the first time or old friends who were meeting after ages. Caspian blinked, caught completely off guard, his heart pounding painfully in his ears.

"I heard a lot about you from Elijah," Lexi continued with a brighter smile, which made Caspian question her intentions. He couldn’t tell what she wanted; after all, she was the woman selected by Gloria for Elijah. How could she not be manipulative and who could guarantee that she was not there to harm him?

"I always wanted to meet you, but..." Lexi said and trailed off, glancing around awkwardly before pointing toward a nearby table outside the restaurant. "Why don’t we sit and talk for a bit?"

Caspian hesitated. Every instinct screamed at him to run. But something pinned him to the spot. He slowly, stiffly nodded and followed her to the table.

Caspian sat down stiffly. He kept his face blank, forcing calm into his voice as he spoke.

"Do I know you, miss?" he asked, feigning ignorance even though he knew exactly who she was. "Is there something you want from me?"

Lexi blinked, clearly startled by his coldness. For a moment, she fumbled with her hands before quickly apologizing.

"Oh, I am so sorry. I forgot to introduce myself properly," she said, her voice hurried and flustered. She took a small, shaky breath before continuing, her eyes darting around nervously. "I... I married Elijah Kensington a few months ago."

There was a heavy pause. Caspian felt the words hit him like a slap across the face, but he didn’t flinch. He simply stared at her as he waited for her to continue.

Lexi bit her lower lip, as if gathering courage, and then blurted out, almost in a single breath, "And... to make things clear, I know he loves you. And I know you love him too."

Her hands fidgeted on her lap, rubbing her palms together anxiously, her entire posture screaming discomfort. She looked as if she might bolt at any second.

"Is this why you are here?" Caspian asked, his voice calm but laced with an edge. Under the table, his fists clenched so tightly and his nails dug into his palms. A part of him wanted to flip the table over, to shout at her, and demand that she leave him alone. But he forced himself to keep his composure.

It had been six long months since Elijah had married. What hurt Caspian the most wasn’t just that Elijah had gotten married without telling him. It was the way he had disappeared without a proper goodbye, without a single word of closure. Elijah hadn’t even given him the decency of a conversation, hadn’t broken up with him properly. And after the marriage? Not even a single message, not a call. Nothing.

For an entire month after the wedding, Caspian had waited — foolishly, only to be met with silence.

It had been a brutal reality to accept, but somehow, Caspian had managed to keep breathing, keep moving. He was trying hard, day by day, to cope with the pain, to stitch his heart back together even if the scars never fully healed. And now, just when he was beginning to stand again, this woman — Lexi — appeared in front of him, throwing salt into wounds that had barely started to close.

If so, it was pointless. Caspian had already cut Elijah out of his life, blocking him from every possible way of contact. He had made sure of it.

Why was she standing here now, dragging him back into a past that he was desperately trying to forget?

Caspian stared at her coldly, waiting for her to speak — because whatever she had to say, he wasn’t sure he had the strength to listen.

"I know it might be weird to say, but... Elijah is trying to talk to you, but you didn’t reply to him... So I decided to come here and talk to you." Lexi’s words caught Caspian off guard!

"Excuse me?" Caspian raised his brows. "What are you exactly trying to imply?" He asked as he gave death glares to Lexi. "You know what... Just leave!"
