Harem Cultivation System

Chapter 5: Cultivation 5—Cleansing Toru Village

Chapter 5

The middle-aged man looked practically harmless — in fact, from the first view, he seemed weak, malnourished, and tired. Elliot allotted these features of his to the current situation of the village.

The middle-aged man walked towards them slowly. At first glance, he exuded no killing intent at all. He kept moving closer, forcing his bent back forward.

Ariel immediately stepped in front of Haruki. Red essence condensed in her palm to form a staff, which she pointed at the middle-aged man.

"Hey you! Don’t come any closer." She clutched her staff tightly.

"Miss, there’s no need to be alarmed. I just want to get a bit closer to the man behind you." A weird grin crept across the middle-aged man’s face.

"Ariel, you heard the man. He just wants to ge—"

Haruki hooked mid-statement as realization hit him hard like a rod of judgement.

’But why? In the first place, how did he survive this place for so long? He doesn’t seem to have much Dao. Even if he was concealing it, there will still be faint traces.’

Haruki mused as he placed a thumb underneath his chin. This middle-aged man in front of them sprang up a lot of questions in his mind.

"Who the hell are you?" Ariel said with a raw tone. "Don’t think this little guise of yours can deceive my Crimson Eyes."

Crimson Eyes was another talent Ariel had that allowed her to see through lies and false illusions.

’Why wasn’t I able to see him for what he truly was?’ Haruki thought as his system allowed him to copy all her talents—it was quite disturbing for him at the moment.

’Oh! I remember now. This must be about creating intimacy with my harem members.’ His cheeks suddenly got a bit red at the thought of the kind of intimacy. ’Don’t tell me it would require actual sexual intercourse.’

"Hahaha. You must be quite a strong cleanser to so easily ascertain my true form."

The middle-aged man’s humped back grew large and tore through his shirt. His legs also expanded and destroyed his trousers as his huge feet cracked the ground underneath.

The man grew taller until he became at least twenty feet in height. White rough hair flowed down from his head. Sinisterly large and dark eyes with red pupils gazed at Haruki and Ariel from above.

"I guess you’ll have to meet a painful and bitter end, just like the ones before you." He snapped his enlarged fingers — a heavy gust of wind followed and dispersed the thick red fog around the village.

"What the hell is this?" Haruki placed a palm over his mouth to prevent him from throwing up.

"What a despicable bastard you are..." Ariel clenched her teeth.

Corpses lay upon corpses, and those corpses lay on even more corpses. Not just one pile, but piles of dead bodies around the entire village—they were natives of the village and cleansers that came to help them.

He stacked them like trophies that were meant to be on display.

"Don’t worry, you will join them soon enough." A grin crept across the enlarged demon’s face, reaching just below his eyebrows.

"Ariel." Haruki held her on the shoulder.

"This corruption zone is no longer in Phase One; it has now progressed to the early Second Phase." He paused, not because he wanted to, but due to the fact that the words he was about to say next were heavy. "When it reaches the late Second Phase, an outbreak will occur."

Outbreaks rarely happen nowadays due to the fact that cleansers have become more evolved. With the creation of advanced technologies that weren’t available in the old days, outbreaks can be easily stopped or contained.

"So what’s the plan, Haruki-sama?" Ariel’s crimson eyes drifted towards him.

’It would be more advisable to call that snake of a guild headmaster, but...’

A grin tore across Haruki’s lips.

"Ariel, I’m sure this won’t be a problem for you. Right?" He took a step forward.

"Who the hell do you think I am..?" Ariel’s Dao flared intensely.

’That was just the answer I was looking for.’

"It seems you don’t want a peaceful and painless demise." The enlarged demon opened its jaws wide.

"Minions, come forth!"

An unpleasant sound wave boomed.

Hordes of low-grade demons ran towards them from every corner of the village.

"Then me and my kin will grant you horrid and painful deaths." The enlarged demon smashed a huge fist into the ground—the ground cracked, and pieces of it flew rapidly towards Haruki and Ariel.

’This bastard must be a mid-grade at best.’ Haruki scanned his environment calmly.

"From the looks of it, the big guy that’s trying to kill us is only mid-grade here, which makes him the commander. If he dies, the rest are sure to follow." He explained meticulously.

"Okay, Haruki-sama." Ariel replied with a bright tone — she clearly didn’t perceive the demons as a threat.

"Flutter One: Dance of Agony."

A ring of butterflies surrounded her and Haruki — immediately the pieces of rock came close to them, they were shredded to pieces in a fleeting instant.

"Ariel, I will take the big guy.... You can take care of the rest of them." Haruki condensed crimson Dao in a palm to form a sleek crimson-red blade.

"As you wish." She lowered her head slightly.

A demon jumped above her — jagged claws fully spread open. The demon thought it could use this chance to finish her off.

The demon wasn’t even given the time to fully form its thoughts before it was shredded to pieces in an instant.

"Weak."

She tilted her head backwards — some of the demons shrieked in fear. They all knew she was way above their league.

"Hey, big ugly demon, over here!" Haruki purposely taunted the demon to gain the reaction that would favour him.

"Die, you pest!"

The enlarged demon swung an arm around to hit Haruki.

"How so very predictable."

The demon’s arm got caught by some kind of spiderweb he created.

"What the hell is this?" The enlarged demon grunted, trying to pull his arm off the spiderweb.

"Let me educate you before I lay you to rest." Haruki emerged from the dust with a slight grin on his face.

"This, my friend, is a web created from pure Dao. Normally, it’s used to catch pests like roaches." Haruki’s head tilted to the side as he placed a finger on it. "Well, given that’s exactly what you are, I suppose I’m making proper use of it. Don’t you think?" He sneered.

"You... you bastard, you dare mock me!" The enlarged demon yelped.

"Playtime is over."

Haruki vanished and reappeared behind the neck of the enlarged demon.

"How did you get ther—"

The enlarged demon couldn’t finish his final statement. For some reason, his voice was lost in Haruki’s Dao pressure.

"Dao: Fluxen Hitches."

For a fleeting moment, the environment turned red, and the bodies of the enlarged demon and Haruki were highlighted in black. Then that very image shattered like a piece of glass by thousands of red-white slashes that minced the enlarged demon to nothingness.

"Toru Village." Haruki landed softly on the ground.

"Cleansed."

His sword vanished into red dust.
