[FROLO]
Sergei was pacing.
Angry.
Ready to bring down an entire mansion with his bare hands. He looked like he was not ready for anything, yet ready for everything at the same time.
And Anya...
She had just had about enough of the man’s whims.
"You’re making me dizzier than my pills, sit down or go talk to him," Anya sighed. She knew Sergei was bothered because of Katya; it wasn’t even that he had to figure out.
Ever since they both knew each other, Sergei never lingered on anything. His anger was rare, and his rage was almost a myth.
Sergei did evil things with a smile on his face. He ruined lives without thinking twice. He burned people alive just for fun, and he never once showed any emotion.
His face was always between two emotions.
Cold, detached, bored, and wicked, smiling, creepy.
It had never been anger.
Not once had he ever been this bothered.
Yet the first day he saw Yaroslav bring Katya home to him, Sergei had suddenly turned into an open book for Anya and an angry, barbaric bastard to everyone.
"Do you want me to yell at him for wasting a whole week and running away the first day he returns to work?" Anya offered.
Sergei paused.
Turned to Anya.
Glared at the woman.
Yet she smiled knowingly.
"Knew that would shut you up. Now sit down and talk to me like a normal person instead of making me want to register into a retirement home," Anya sighed.
Sergei took his seat quietly next to the window, with a view of Katya’s chambers. He knew it was stupid to do this after the night he had had, but he didn’t know how that had happened.
He wanted to understand what Katya’s motivation was. He wanted to know why Katya had still chosen Yaroslav over him.
It made no sense whatsoever.
"Sergei, what did you do this time?" Anya asked like she was already tired from the answers she was about to hear.
But then again, it was either her listening or watching, the big bad alpha would be reduced to a stupid boy with a crush he couldn’t talk to face-to-face.
"Nothing," the alpha said passively.
"So let me get this. You left the company. Went after Katya in the morning. Didn’t say where you were all that time. Came back with huge bads under tour eyes and an anger that could flatten three cities the size of Frolo.
"Now you’re pacing and sulking instead of talking to your employee about why he wasted a whole week. Did I miss something?" Anya asked even though she knew she would regret asking that question.
"He’s not my employee," Sergei said, like that would magically explain why he looked like he had gone through a million divorces in under twelve hours.
"Right. He is your son’s husband, I’m glad you remember that," Anya said, even though she knew Sergei would probably swat her head off.
Sergei’s reaction was instant.
He growled at Anya.
The possessiveness in his growl was something that wasn’t new to the woman. He looked like he was about to make a hundred and one considerations about Anya, yet Anya stared at him, like she was bored out of her mind with his antics.
"You might want to tone your growls down for whatever madness you took part in because of that omega," Anya said, but Sergei didn’t stop growling.
"I invited the Romanovs over. Mentioned you’ll be open to talking to them about their son. They should be here in about ten to twenty minutes," Anya said casually, like she was talking about another group of people Sergei was having meetings with.
But they were not, were they? Oh, they would never be, because these people... They were different. In the kind of way that Sergei couldn’t use threats and blackmail to get what he wanted.
The Romanovs.
The Romanovs.
The Romanovs.
They were coming???
"You might want to clean up real quick instead of looking like Satan this early in the morning. Also, come up with a good enough excuse why you’re in Katya’s home at seven o’clock in the morning...
"... on a Saturday," Anya added, chuckling mischievously like she was very glad someone was going to take the stress off her shoulders, even if just for an hour or three.
Well, if they managed to get the great Sergei-I’m-crushing-on-your-son Moskowsky to let out a proper sentence in their discussion.
Sergei let out a strangled noise, much to Anya’s amusement.
"You’ll need words, boy. Proper words, with the Romanovs," Anya teased before she got up, like she was leaving.
"You can’t leave me here," Sergei said, his voice filled with horror and terror, as if this was something he was confident he could never handle alone.
"Oh, darling. I would love to take you with me, but you made your bed, sweetie. Lie on it, yeah? I’m going to the spa, I’ll be out the whole day, so don’t even think of calling me unless you’re dying," Anya said, her tone light and filled with amusement.
She was almost glad that this was happening.
Maybe because she had a feeling that Sergei had really spent the night camping outside that cold apartment that didn’t even have a chair in it, because he wanted to see Katya.
The alpha was so whipped he couldn’t even think whenever the omega was involved, and right now, with the Romanovs coming, Anya was getting a proper chance to be free.
However, before Anya could step out the door. Her phone rang.
Sergei.
"Oh, this manchild," Anya sighed exasperatedly before she picked up the call. You would think she and Sergei were still not in the same room.
"What now, boy genius?" Anya said, rolling her eyes as she glared at Sergei, who was staring at her with his phone against his ear.
"I’m dying, please don’t go," Sergei said, pure horror in his voice, and Anya stared, wondering when the fuck she had been assigned to parent a fifty-year-old barbarian who, by the way, the entire city was terrified shitless of.
"You don’t look like you’re dying to me. You’ll be fine, alright? I’m going now. You be safe. And if you call me again, I will block your contact and murder whoever you send to find me," Anya said with a smile on her face as she hung up.
Then she left.
Sergei still held the phone to his ears, even when he heard Anya’s car drive away. Even when he knew it was just him, the servants, and Katya in this big ass mansion.
But Sergei refused to be forced into a conversation with the Romanovs.
If Anya thought she would set him up and abandon him, she was wrong.
Perhaps that was why Sergei hurried out of the house, determined to get as far away as possible.
He needed to be gone before they came. Because the only thing worse than being trapped in the same house as Katya right now was being trapped in the same house with Katya and his parents.
That was worse than a death sentence.
"Sir, should I get the car ready?" one of the guards asked, and Sergei didn’t respond.
Bringing the car around would take time, and he didn’t have time.
He needed to leave.
Now.
Oh, he was good to go.
Then the gates opened.
’Someone kill me now. Please,’ was all Sergei could think of when he saw who was right ahead of him.
The Romanovs had arrived.
"Mr. Moskowsky."
