[FROLO]
"You are going to poke holes in my floor, you little shit. Sit down or stand up, stop pacing like a maniac!" Anya scolded as Sergei kept going in circles in her office.
Thankfully, Anya’s office had actual walls to separate them from the rest of the team because otherwise this would have been really creepy.
Sergei glared at her even as he kept pacing as if that was going to make his day any better. The day itself was fucked already, but nothing made it worse than the way he had opened his mouth and closed that shit back in the conference room.
"You don’t understand," Sergei said defeatedly, like he had lost all his will to live.
He was pacing like the world had come together to condemn him, and he was simply trying his very best to be as sane as possible, which wasn’t even making it any easier for him.
"Sit the fuck down, Sergei," Anya said as she grabbed a throw pillow off the couch and threw it at Sergei, who caught it.
Of course, he’d catch it.
That was the point because now he was staring at Anya like someone who didn’t know what to live for anymore.
"Why did I even offer?" Sergei asked, his head in his hands like life had finally dealt him the worst blow of his life. He had walked right into that shit, and now he was questioning his choices. The same choices he made himself.
"You looked pretty happy about everything when he called you Vladimir, did you? Had to go open your big mouth and speak freedom.
"Well, go back to your office and see how free your omega is before you give me a headache," Anya scolded while mocking Sergei.
At the same time, it sounded like she pitied him, too, because this man definitely didn’t mean the kind of freedom that normal people embraced whenever they heard the term.
But surely Sergei had made his bed.
It was only right that he lay in it, no?
"He was scared," Sergei reasoned.
Of course, that had to be his reason.
He had waited a whole night for the omega to come home, only for him to see a whole different version of things. Sergei had never been that terrified of losing a person he hated close.
Saturday night had changed him. There was no doubt about that.
But now it was pushing him into crazier decisions every minute, and Anya was just staring at him as if the alpha had finally managed to lose the one functional brain cell that should have kept him sane.
"Righttt... Because anyone in Frolo who hears the name Sergei Moskowsky always ends up jumping in joy? I have a lot of work to do, and your disoriented sight is not making my day any better.
"You’re the owner of this shit. Go back to your office and leave me to work in peace," Anya said, dismissing the alpha who was still clearly not ready to leave.
Sergei, on the other hand, stared at her like he was suddenly terrified of going to his own office.
It was almost hilarious how Sergei hugged the throw pillow. Lay on his back on the couch and even had the nerve to grab the fluffy blanket and pull it over him like it wasn’t Monday and he wasn’t the one man everyone needed to report to.
They had work to do.
A lot of work, especially with the series of scandals and unexplained shit in Moskowsky, but this barbaric alpha was here curled up and whining because he had accidentally given his omega freedom, and he was rethinking it all.
He was doomed.
And the more he thought of his decisions, the more he was sure he had shot himself in the foot.
"He scolded me in the car, you know," Sergei began, and Anya rolled her eyes at him as if she was not in the mood to listen to his failed love life.
The man was whipped so badly that it was starting to be a problem for Anya.
"It’s not like you always scold me... It was different. The good kind of difference. Then he asked me if I didn’t want to eat breakfast with him every morning," Sergei went on.
And Anya sighed before focusing on her work.
Well, she tried.
She was successful for a whole of thirty seconds.
Because Sergei wasn’t stopping anytime soon, and he sounded like he needed more therapy than clarity at this point.
"He was so beautiful... Still is beautiful," Sergei went on as if it was the time to delve into the memory that Anya definitely wanted no part of.
"You’re not paying me to be your therapist, boy genius," Anya sighed exasperatedly. She couldn’t believe that she was doing this in the office on a damn busy Monday morning.
Oh, how she was tempted to call Katya to take his man from her office.
Sergei just smiled instead, like this was their actual normal.
"He called me Vladimir more than once today..." Sergei said, his voice low and disbelieving like he had just unlocked the one part of heaven that he had never been sure he was able to get to.
Now, it was here with him.
Unfortunately, Anya didn’t share the same sentiments because she was one step away from annihilating the man if he didn’t get out of her sight.
"Oh my god, get up and get out!" Anya shouted at him.
If the room wasn’t padded properly, the entire executive floor would hear the devil of Frolo being kicked out of his own establishment.
"Do you think he has feelings for me?" Sergei asked, sitting up while still covering his head with the fluffy blanket.
He sounded desperate, and looked so far gone.
Anya just stared at him, wondering what part of her work contract stated that she had to deal with this on a morning meant for way better things than a man who didn’t dare to sit properly and embrace the reality he had even for himself.
"Sergei..." Anya groaned.
The alpha just continued.
"What... It’s just a question..." Sergei said, daring to pout at Anya.
For a moment, the woman wondered if this older-than-old fossil on her couch was the same man the city was terrified shitless of.
Maybe she would take a video of the boy genius being absolutely useless and share it with the world, no?
"Lemme ask you one then," Anya said, closing the folder on her desk and turning her attention to the needy bastard on her couch.
"Okay, what is it?" Sergei asked eagerly.
A little too eagerly.
"Tell me, boy genius. If I shove my feet up your ass, what are the odds I’ll reach your stomach?" Anya asked, a full smile on her face like she wasn’t about to throw another pillow at the annoying man in the room.
"You’re mean on a Monday," was all Sergei said instead, and Anya had to remind herself that this man may have been an idiot in the morning, but he was unfortunately her idiot.
"Don’t you have people to terrify somewhere in Frolo? Or maybe interviews to give because of your donations? Or perhaps aren’t you supposed to be doing charity work somewhere else that isn’t my office when I’m trying to work?" Anya asked exasperatedly.
"Wait, you’re actually right," Sergei said, his face lighting up.
And for a moment...
"About what, now?" Anya asked tiredly.
For a moment, Anya thought she was going to finally have some peace.
Until...
"You want to buy the Omega a city?"
