[KATYA]
"She choked Yaroslav and snapped his neck twice. Goodness, that was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on live television!" Andre said excitedly.
It was as if that was normal.
Like Svet, finding their riskier life in front of millions was sometimes used to make a daily norm for them.
Like it wasn’t the most dangerous thing Katya had ever heard.
"On WHAT?" Katya screeched again, the pillow frozen in his hands as he tried to gauge if he needed to be worried for his friends, or worried for the psychosis, because his friends were definitely not going to stop.
It was supposed to be a good thing, seeing as now there was attention, the chaos that Svet had wanted, and to be fair, it was their only way out, not that it was making Katya breathe any easier right now.
"Live television. Kicked him, and they had to drag his unconscious body out of there, fast. Anyway, now the entire city of Frolo knows your husband is a cheating, useless whore who can’t keep shit in his pants!" Svet said happily as she high-fived with Andre.
They were happy.
All smiley and shit.
While Katya was having a mental breakdown dad was worried for his unhinged friends.
Did they forget they were in a Moskowsky house?
A place where they would possibly be murdered, and no one would ever ask questions? Was that what they wanted?
At the same time, Katya couldn’t help but think about what could have happened out there.
How much had he missed the ring, because right now it was two o’clock, and clearly there was a whole lifeline that had passed, and he hadn’t seen the chaos in every phase.
Perhaps this was it.
The end of the road for him. For his friends.
Yet they were not even terrified.
They looked like this was the kind of danger they would always walk into for Katya.
And the worst part? 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Katya knew it was true.
That they would cross lines and ruin lives for him.
They would try the worst and accomplish shit worse than devils together.
Maybe Katya needed blood pressure pills, because these two had just clearly discovered another high that would definitely have him sick with worry every single time.
"His father just stood there. Oh, you should have seen the look on Moskowsky’s face when I strangled his son," Svet added as she turned to Andre suddenly.
Andre stepped back, like he knew what was coming.
Like he had expected, and when Svet pulled him close and put him in a chokehold, not tightening her grip or anything, Katya knew he was never going to hear the end of this with them.
Never.
Maybe that was a bad thing, or a good thing?
He didn’t know.
Not now anyway.
"Hold on, why am I always the illustration tool for you!" Andre whined, pulling away just enough for him to be free of Svet’s chokehold.
But the woman was adamant to show Katya what she had done, and she grabbed their friend, pulled him close, and held him in a chokehold like she had Yaroslav.
This was an experimental session, and as always, Andre was the dummy to be used.
"Do not snap Andre’s neck," Katya warned, as if he already knew what was coming next.
It had happened.
Not once. Not twice.
It was like Andre’s neck was always the spring for Svet’s madness, and Katya would always just watch and wait because there was no talking them both out of whatever the fuck that was.
Maybe the insanity was his reminder that this was normal, that the insanity the Moskowskys came with, perhaps he just had to figure out how to love life on both ends?
Well, with his friends, he would be safe, but with the Moskowskys... fuck.
"Please tell her again, this barbaric woman doesn’t even understand mercy," Andre whined, but Svet didn’t let go.
"He is strong, he will wake up eventually!" Svet argued.
Katya rolled his eyes at the chaos.
Sighing, he sat back on the bed because with these two, there was no knowing how shit would go with them. But at least they made his boring life more interesting with their antics and chaos.
"If you knock me out while I’m on an empty stomach, I will go tell your boss that you sneak out to buy protein bars every half hour like a chocolate addict," Andre threatened Svet, who had started pressing harder on his neck.
"You wouldn’t," Svet argued, horrified, like that was the kind of betrayal that didn’t come from friends.
"Oh yeah? Choke me then, and we shall see who would do what and who wouldn’t do what," Andre said before they got into a dull bickering session.
Katya sat there.
Watching it all unfold like a tired parent with two kids who were so close to driving him to a mental hospital.
Katya had always known his friends were different levels of unhinged, and worse, that they always did whatever they promised him.
They never let anyone hurt him, and it had been their weird suggestion to have a damn tracker on him.
Well, it was whether that or Svet would demand to come back to work at Moskowsky holdings, which she was very qualified for, and Katya, being the chairman, would simply have to hire her because, well, she was his best friend and could trip him in the hallways if he didn’t agree.
Also, the fact that Svet swore she would follow him even to the washrooms and make sure everyone knew that Katya was not to be touched, among other very unrealistic demands that Katya knew Svet would most definitely lean into.
’What was that call?’ Katya wondered to himself as he watched his friend pillow fight, their bickers muting out as he thought back to the conversation and what Svet had said.
That woman was unhinged and had absolutely no reason to lie to him, which made it even worse. Because the fact that Svet talked about Sergei hunched over almost, almost matched with the darn phone call.
Now he was not even sure if he had hallucinated it all, or if this was just another day in his life when nothing made sense.
Sighing, Katya wondered if his friends would help him decipher whatever that class was.
But at the same time, he knew what they would tell him.
That he was being manipulated.
Frankly, that was more believable than a darn confession from the devil of Frolo.
"Did you at least kick him in the groin?" Katya shouted suddenly at his friends.
The room went silent
Before they erupted into fits of laughter like they had all gone crazy.
And Katya knew he had to forget that damn call because his friends were always with him. That call had been just a mistake, perhaps a recording that was played.
After all, the call had come through a landline. Why the hell would a Moskowsky use a landline to reach him when they had his contacts and even those of his parents?
"Absolutely. I hope Milan chokes on broken bones tonight," Svet shouted, like she didn’t already know that her voice was loud whenever she was pissed and that everyone was probably going to hear what she had said.
But there was no trouble, right?
Because she would always be there to protect her friend.
"Oh, yeah? Do you wanna illustrate again? Because I will kill you for real this time if you try that shit here," Andre said with a sweet smile on his face while he glared daggers at Svet as if to tell he went to think about it.
In all fairness, Svetlana was a crazy experimental researcher.
Sure, they knew it, but they also knew she was just one smile away from an actual psychiatric admission and being trapped in a room with padded walls while dressed in darn white clothes like a Victorian ghost.
"Alright, alright, I won’t illustrate... but the last time I—" Svet tried like that was supposed to make this any easier for Andre, who was clearly horrified by whatever Svetlana was always up to.
"SVETLANA ZUHRA VASILIEVA," Andre said, coldly, the warning in his voice obvious even though he, like everyone in the room, knew that the warning held no weight.
His warnings to his friends never did.
"Yup, that is our cue to go for dinner," Svet said, helping Katya off the bed.
"I knew you had lucid moments in that psychotic brain of yours," Andre added like a proud adult, before the friends stepped out to get dinner like everything was okay.
But Katya... he still had questions on that call.
