[KATYA]
"Who I marry or who I don’t marry is not your business... Now, if you won’t ask the right questions, leave. I got a business to run," Katya said, his voice steady and cold.
But Anya saw through it all.
The shaking hands, the sweat that was trickling down his face, the way his lips trembled with every stare at the crowd.
Then again, could Katya be blamed?
Katya was an introvert.
The most he had ever spoken to a person was within the confines of his lab or at a briefing with Sergei, but only because Sergei Moskowsky despised everyone who lived and breathed except his son.
Now, he was being punished for accepting help.
Ruined for leaning towards the first person who gave him hope at a time when he had none. The person who made him believe that there was no shame in taking help.
Maybe he should have been shamed before.
But then right now, maybe, just maybe, didn’t care as much.
He would take it.
His punishment.
He would toil hard, even if it would never be enough. He knew that this was never going to end, and there was no point infighting it.
"So, you confirm that you are married to the father of your husband?" one person said, like they had insider information about the kinds of hair that went on within the confines of the Moskowsky walls.
Katya stiffened.
This was too much.
All of it was insane. He hadn’t wanted this. Hell, he hadn’t even prayed for this, so why was he cursed like this?
"Say that about my husband again, I dare you," Yaroslav’s grim voice came from the crowd, and Katya visibly relaxed.
He knew there was no use, but maybe with Yaroslav, he would be alright.
Maybe Yaroslav would tell them to stay away and leave him be. Even if it was just serving his eternal punishment.
"Mr. Yaroslav, there have been rumors circulating about your husband having an affair with your father," the reporter insisted.
Yaroslav didn’t even flinch.
He just turned to look at Katya, like he was trying to decipher what to say.
Like he was determining if this would be worth it. And Katya had never been that horrified.
Everything about this place scared the hell out of him.
"I’ll only say this once. If you have a problem with my omega, come to me. Also, since you’re here dissecting him because of the last name Moskowsky, did it ever occur to you that my name is Yaroslav Gamov-Moskowsky?
"Or did you all choose to be fundamentally stupid and stress the love of my life out like that? Get the fuck away from here and never show your faces beyond the gates," Yaroslav said angrily.
No one waited.
Everyone scurried off.
Because even they knew that the son was just as brutal as the father.
They understood the toxicity in the family and knew that two shots and a torn ear would not be enough to rip apart the family that had worked hard to make it happen.
It was reality that was not certain, yet with the way that Yaroslav had spoken, they had left, not looking back. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Anya stood nearby, watching with a smirk on her face as Yaroslav came to Katya’s aid. It was as if she had expected this to happen, but she didn’t look like she gave two shit about it, though.
"Thank you," Katya breathed when everyone had already left.
Yaroslav hadn’t moved an inch from where he had been standing. He looked like he wasn’t sure his omega wanted to go to him, but at the same time, he had to wait it out, because he knew Katya.
He understood Katya.
And after everything that happened, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he never left Katya’s side.
However, before the man could step forward, Anya spoke.
"I see you have legs and your ears aren’t dead yet, Yaroslav," Anya said, her voice flat like she was in the mood to deal with the tantrums of the Moskowsky kid again.
But then what else was there?
"Why the fuck would you parade my husband like that, Anya? And what is all this with the last name? I did not sign the divorce papers, if you forgot," Yaroslav seethed, and Katya stiffened.
Divorce papers?
"What?" the omega asked.
"Your father revoked your access to HQ. No card you swipe will work, so you’d better go to work, Yaroslav. You and I both know the omega is not yours anymore.
"Sign the divorce papers, or you deal with your father when he comes back," Anya said before she motioned for Volkov to get Katya away.
Volkov didn’t hesitate.
He grabbed Katya by the arms tightly, like someone who was pushing an agenda, and honestly, Katya was still trying to process everything.
He hadn’t asked to divorce from Yaroslav, and given the way that Yaroslav was talking, it was as if they had been sent.
But who the fuck would set divorce papers when Katya himself hadn’t signed or even initiated the process?
Then again, Katya had to remind himself that he was now a Moskowsky property.
He had signed over his life and everything that related to him and his free will. He was a tool for them, and if they wanted him divorced, he didn’t have a choice. Gods, this was hell, and there wasn’t even a way out for Katya Romanov.
"You’re hurting him," Yaroslav growled, before he grabbed Volkov and threw the man against the nearest wall.
They were right at the entrance of the building when that happened.
And the employees saw it all, though no one would speak of it. It was more than obvious, given how silent they had stayed over the things that we do in this goddamn madhouse.
Still, it didn’t make it any better.
"He’s following orders, stupid. What do you want here, Yaroslav? I called you and didn’t respond. Now you see Katya on the news, and you suddenly remember that he is your husband?
"Where the fuck was that memory when you cheated on him?" Anya snapped calculatedly, like she was about to snip off the other ear Yaroslav had functioning.
She looked like she was about to slam dunk the beta, and frankly, Katya was even sure what the fuck was going on. He just stood there, holding back his tears at the overwhelming sensations that he was feeling right now.
Everything was hitting him at a for and he still had to steady himself because his mother was worth all the risk. He couldn’t cry because apparently, chairmen never cried.
Or rather, no one in the Moskowsky business let their tears show.
Katya was trapped, and he couldn’t even beg for a way out.
"You know nothing, Anya. Just because you’re father’s trusted doesn’t mean that you will control me. I am taking my husband and leaving. If you want a fight, I will give you one," Yaroslav growled possessively.
Anya tsked.
"Fine then, you shall get your fight," Anya said, before a group of men black surrounded Yaroslav.
Katya didn’t even understand anything, because the next thing he knew, he was being walked like a dog into the Moskowsky building. A place so huge and screamed louder.
He had been here more than once, but this was the first time he was looking like he had been dressed for brothel duties.
Still, he kept his head steady, lest Anya slap his head off.
