[FROLO]
Those words.
A simple sentence had Sergei’s heart clenching so hard it was almost impossible to tell what he was going to do, and as if he had been gut-punched, the big bad alpha hunched over suddenly, his discomfort clear.
It was like this was the one thing that he had not expected he would find himself in, and that was scary because Sergei Moskowsky was the king of composure. He was the man who never flattered, not even came.
This?
This was new.
"What did she do to him?"
"Do you think she killed him?
"Is he going to die?"
And suddenly, the place that had been quiet with very careful people who had come to the chaos was not filled with whispers, shouts, and questions.
It was like this, right there was the standard of everything, they had seen it, the way that Svet had smirked earlier.
The way that he had looked at Sergei like the man deserved every bad thing that was headed his way. And anger? It was still written clear as day onset’s face, the reminder that she was not with him.
And that was intriguing, because this was the very first time Sergei hunched over in public.
"Everyone, get the fuck out!!" Volkov suddenly spoke, hurrying to where his boss was.
The Moskowsky guards were quick to react to the secretary’s voice. They were making things in order, even as Sergei stayed hunched over.
Rahim stared in confusion because while she took the obsession the barbaric alpha had with Katya, she didn’t know what to do that could have triggered the man.
Or maybe she was aware that she, too, like the others, refused to lean into the possibility that Sergei Moksowsky would ever be bested like that.
But was this ever bait besting, or was this the one time that life needed to press pause and actually let things be?
"Do not even think of touching me, if you love your life," Svet watched as she looked at the circus before her.
She didn’t believe that Sergei could be defeated that easily.
Yet at the same time, a man who never cared for optics couldn’t be suddenly hunched over like if this was nothing, hell, even the urgency didn’t look preplanned.
It was as if this was happening for real. But Svet wasn’t about to buy into bullshit. So, she grabbed her phone and began videotaping the interaction with Sergei.
She was livestreaming because the media needed to have whatever this was. And honestly, she couldn’t give two fucks if Sergei Moskowsky dropped dead right there.
As long as her friend was free.
"Well, well, well. Look who is hunched over, pretending to be hurt because I just asked him why the fuck they pushed Romanov into getting a tracker. If this is a pr stunt, I must say it is the worst ever. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"You Moskowskys should do better than to play games like these," Svet mocked as she tuned the camera to the hunched-over alpha.
She couldn’t see his face, but she could hear him breathing heavily. Almost like he was warning her to stay away if she didn’t want to die.
But Svet loved danger, didn’t she?
After all, when she had come here, she hadn’t come to get incomplete answers.
"Don’t... don’t do this, Svetlana," Rahim stepped forward and stood before Svet, who just laughed at the woman. Like she couldn’t believe that this was what the entire Moskowsky planning system had been reduced to.
The alpha secretary who was standing in front of her like that was supposed to terrify her?
Oh, but Svet had seen crazier.
She was crazier than most.
"Why? When you guys forced Romanov into the position barely a week after his hospital admission, what did you think? Oh, and when Yaroslav openly cheated on him? Where were you with that?
"Or do you want to tell me you haven’t seen the rumors spiraling in the private chat spaces that Romanov is the one who cheated and that bastard guy is the victim here?" Svet asked, enraged.
She would not stand for anything that went against her friend. She had come here for answers. And Sergei could either kill her or give her the answers, because running away from Svet was a recipe for disaster.
She had marked Sergei as her target the moment Katya had come crying and told them to come over the moment they heard of the changes.
Frankly, they had only ever stayed out of the hospital because she and Andre didn’t want to stress Katya out even more.
"This is not the time, Svetlana," Rahim argued.
"Let him either confirm or deny to this camera his knowledge, or lack thereof, of where Romanov is. That is all I need. Because either way, I am not leaving without the answers," Svet insisted.
Sergei sighed before he lifted his head.
And what Svetlana saw was a stark contrast to the man who had been standing in front of her earlier.
This man... he looked way different.
"Are you sure you want the answer to that? You won’t like the answers," Sergei said, and Svetlana laughed at him.
Actually, laughed at the audacity of the barbarian before her.
This man was insane. She knew that already, but this was a type of insanity that she was not going to let pass.
"Give me an answer, Sergei. I have better things to do instead of staying on camera," Svet said suddenly, her tone cold and her rage threatening to blow over.
She looked like she had personal business with Sergei Moskowsky, so much so that calling Sergei with no formalities was something that didn’t occur to her, yet she had done it, that same rage.
"Fine. You and your fucking retard followers want answers so bad? He is with me. He is working for me. He will not be released until he fulfils his contract with me as the chairman.
"You have been in the corporate world long enough to know I wouldn’t want him to spill corporate secrets to romance now, don’t you?" Sergei said in a clipped tone.
Svetlana glared at him, the camera still on her side. The alpha hadn’t shown his face to the camera, though, and it was easy to understand why. Hell, even Svet understood him.
"Yes or no? Where is he? Telling me Romanov is with you does give me shit. give me a location, Sergei," Svet demanded.
Sergei sighed again.
He was getting tired of this shit, and it was obvious.
But Svet was relentless, unwilling to let go.
Svet knew what this man had done to her friend; she understood it a little too well, and she refused to stand on the side and wait for someone to send them help that probably wasn’t even on this way yet.
"13 Emerald Street," Sergei gritted.
"Good. He better be there, because if I don’t find him alive or in good condition, I will be back," Svet said before she cut the cameras and turned to the am before her.
She was not going to be dealing with Sergei, but she couldn’t deny that seeing him hunched over was a victory for her.
"If any of you threaten him with the heart you gave his mother again, if you remove the tracker on him, I swear, you will never see him again, Moskwoksy. I’ll make sure of it," Svet said angrily.
Then she left for the residence on 13 Emerald Street.
Where she had been early that morning.
