[YAROSLAV]
"You do not get to be angry after I had to deal with you the past few days, Yaroslav Gamov," Milan raged, closing the distance between them as she shoved his chest and had him falling back on that bed.
But her statement had Yaroslav stopping for a moment.
A few days?
What the hell had happened?
"What do you mean, a few days?" Yaroslav asked, because there was no way he had been out of it for a few days.
It had to be a mistake.
Or Milan had to be tricking him into something.
Yet for some reason, his body spoke a different language. One that almost... Almost corresponded to what Milan had said, and why it seems like the woman had very well reached the thin edge of her patience.
"Don’t shit me right now, Yaroslav. That is not funny," Milan sighed exasperatedly as she stepped back and took the nearest seat.
Yaroslav smelled like a dumpster.
He looked like shit, and it took every ounce of Milan’s patience to sit there and even engage in a conversation with him at all.
"I don’t even know what you’re talking about, and you won’t give me straight answers!" Yaroslav shouted, ignoring the pain that was all over his body.
He was frustrated already, and with Milan insisting that it had been a few days, Yaroslav knew he was in trouble.
He had to find Katya as soon as possible because, at least with Katya, he could lie to his father and Anya that he had been with the omega.
That the omega had been in heat, and Yaroslav took an impromptu leave and couldn’t attend to the company.
That was way more believable than saying that he couldn’t remember what had happened or even how he had ended up here.
He really had to seek Katya out, fuck.
"And you don’t get to shout at me after nearly costing me my fucking job!" Milan shouted back.
Yaroslav sighed.
He honestly couldn’t give a shit about Milan’s job right now. But it seems important to her enough to have her shout at him like they hadn’t spent more time fucking each other than talking like normal people.
Also, what the hell was with her attitude anyway? She could always find another job.
Couldn’t she?
Oh, Yaroslav was so done with her.
"Alright then, what happened?" Yaroslav asked, his tone lower this time, but there was still an edge to it that was unsettling.
Milan glared at him, not buying into his bullshit. She knew years better than anyone and then rarely apologized.
Well, he never apologized to her, and she had seen him apologize to Katya Romanov more times than she could count on one hand.
That in itself irked Milan even more because Yaroslav had always been genuine with Katya, then with her. The darn omega was the competition, and he even sighted in weeks.
What kind of a fate was this for her then?
"Sigh, this shit first," Milan said, handing him a piece of paper with his signature space and hers that was already signed.
She looked exhausted, truly in the kind of way that if she had been Katya.
Yaroslav would have run her a swarm bath and nursed her. He would have taken care of her and tried to take away her stress. But she wasn’t Katya. She would never be Katya and Yaroslav; he loved Katya, not Milan.
Perhaps that was why he wasn’t as bothered by the woman.
"I am not signing shit," Yaroslav said, and Milan couldn’t help but laugh at him at the sudden realization of what Yaroslav was insinuating.
The Moskowskys had the rule to never sign off on anything without reading through it, their ice. It was the only way to make sure they didn’t have any hidden clauses, and even worse than they did that, to stain their hands with blood.
Because, as much as a murder was not something that could be put past the Moskowskys, they always tried to be standard citizens for as long as they could before they snapped.
It was some weird policy, but who was counting, right?
"Oh, you Moskowskys and your pride with your darn signatures. Man, sign this shit. I need to get my paid leave," Milan sighed, like she was about to stomp her feelings on his face if he didn’t do as she was asking.
She was losing her patience with him. If she had it already, and Yaroslav could see it too.
Not that he was the least bit bothered about it, still.
"What if you trick me?" Yaroslav asked, not bothering to even consider the fact that this was a need for the woman and that things would actually go sideways for her if this wasn’t done.
Milan stared at the beta.
Really stared at the man who was the CEO of Knox Technologies. She couldn’t believe that this was the brain they had put up there.
At the same time, this was the man she loved, even though right now, killing him was starting to sound like a good idea. This was not what she had signed up for, truly.
"Don’t fucking play with me, Yaroslav. Do you not have eyes? Can’t you fucking read?? The paper literally says administrative fucking leave, what the heck?" Milan asked, showing it in his face as if that was supposed to make him read it.
She just wanted to get on with her day, and clearly, that was not going to work if she didn’t get Yaro’s signature.
Yaroslav looked at her still with uncertainty, like he knew her and knew that she could probably be here trying to force him into a situation that would have him losing the man that he loved.
He couldn’t put it past Milan to actually send him divorce papers and trick him into signing them.
Gods Yaroslav was paranoid as fuck.
Or maybe he was just too hazy and didn’t want to sign shit if he didn’t read it thrice, as was policy.
But what could go wrong with an administrative leave form??
"If I wanted to bind you to me, I would wait till you ask me to be your wife. Not that fucking Kathy. I do not intend to be the surprise you give Kathy, and I am not that stupid to try to force myself into your life through a marriage.
"You’re literally the son of the devil. Sergei would swat my head off my neck like a fly if I tried that bullshit. Now please, for the sake of my job with you won’t refund me?
"Sign the damn thing. I need to scan it and send a digital copy to the hospital before they think I’m absconding from my duties just because my part-time boyfriend got bested by a psycho and drunk himself stupid for three whole days," Milan said calmly.
She was past fighting.
Yaroslav could see that, and that was even more unsettling because the Milan he knew never stopped at anything that simply.
But maybe she had just had enough stress for days that she was not about to add more to her pain this morning, no?
"What’s gotten into you?" Yaroslav asked as he grabbed the paper to read for himself.
She wasn’t lying.
"I don’t know, maybe you shouldn’t have walked around like a beginner. You’re lucky I love you because I would have shipped you back to your demon spawn of a father long ago."
