[KATYA]
Alpha Sergei Moskowsky.
The devil of Frolo.
He was here. In Katya’s hospital room.
"Wh—" Katya breathed, unsure of what to say.
The most feared man in the city of Frolo was here casually, like he was on a mission.
And maybe he was.
Because other than being the ruthless billionaire alpha who took lives like they meant nothing and ate business contracts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Alpha Sergei was also Yaroslav’s stepfather.
Katya stared as the alpha walked in. Head held high, a stoic look on his face, appearance sharp. He looked like he belonged in a boardroom and not some tiny hospital room that seemed to shrink the moment he walked in.
"You look like shit," Alpha Sergei said, not mincing his words. It was like he was stating the obvious. And while that was mostly true, Katya didn’t need him coming into his hospital room like that.
Not when he was about to go and see his parents in the cardiac ward of this same hospital. Everything was collapsing, and as Katya looked at the man, he couldn’t help but wonder how low Yaroslav had to have sunk to send his stepfather after Katya.
"The son didn’t have the courage to own up to his mistakes, so he sent his daddy to fix things for him. How classic," Katya said tiredly as he struggled with the last IV drip. He needed to be out of here as soon as possible.
His mother was in pain, and his father was probably confused. Katya’s life was falling apart with every minute that passed.
It was all so random that even now, as Katya sat on the bed, struggling with the drip and pushing the memories of his lost baby to the back of his mind, the omega couldn’t help but wonder if the devil of Frolo was here to finish the job.
After all, everything felt too coincidental to even be considered a coincidence.
Katya in the hospital. His father, drowning in debt, and now his mother, in need of an expensive surgery. All was happening barely a day after he had left Yaroslav’s presence. Goodness, this was a nightmare.
And now. Sergei was here.
"Don’t," Sergei said, his voice cold as he looked at Katya.
"I have to go to my parents. You can deal with me later, Mr. Moskowsky," Katya said tiredly.
"Why can’t this get off?" Katya sighed weakly as he stared at the last IV drip. It felt like it was glued to him, and frankly, Katya wasn’t about to go to his father with a drip tagging along. He wouldn’t scare his old man like that.
"Stop being stubborn, and stay put," Sergei said flatly, like he couldn’t stand the pathetic state that Katya was in at the moment.
"Why are you really here? Come to warn me against announcing to the world that my husband is a cheater who’s been cheating on me since the night we married?" Katya asked, holding off on his unwinnable fight with the IV drip.
Maybe he would try later because, honestly, he was tired. His body was so close to giving out. He had told his father that he was on his way, and it was just a matter of time before the hour was over and he would be doomed again.
"You ripped your IV again, Mr. Gamov," the nurse from before rushed in frantically to fix Katya.
She froze for a moment when she saw Sergei. But continued doing her work even though she was shaking. It was unfinished because everyone and their mama was scared of alpha Sergei Moskowsky.
"Enough. Get out," Sergei spoke, and Katya stared.
Or was all he could do anyway.
"You don’t tell me what to do, Mr. Moskowsky," Katya said defiantly, even though he knew that that order had been directed to the shaking nurse who was desperately trying to fix Katya’s drip.
Sergei smirked coldly. Like he knew what Katya was doing. Like he understood what the omega on the bed with a warm citrus scent was trying to do.
"Please, excuse us. You can come back later," Sergei said to the nurse, even though his eyes held Katya’s in an unspoken challenge. One that the nurse was more than eager to steer clear of.
It was unhinged, really, how tense the room had gotten and how Katya was fueled by rage from the previous day and the events of today. Maybe he was risking everything, but what else did Katya have to lose?
"If you’re not going to help me get this IV out, follow the nurse and leave me be," Katya said weakly, and Sergei let out a dark chuckle.
"You’re playing with fire, Solnyshka," Sergei said, his eyes never wavering, and strangely enough, Katya’s didn’t either. Like he was waiting to see what the devil of Frolo would do to him here. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Maybe I don’t mind getting burnt. So... You going to help me or what?"
"No," Sergei said.
It was clear and crisp that Katya could feel his head hurting again.
"No?" Katya asked in disbelief, rolling his eyes at the man who had invaded the only space he had left.
"You got hurt," Sergei said, staring at Katya’s body like he knew what was beneath the hospital gown.
"Why are you here?" Katya asked again.
"You were... Alone. Bleeding for too long," Sergei said, like Katya hadn’t asked a question.
"That is not your business... What do you want here?"
"You didn’t call for help, Solnyshka," Sergei added quietly, and Katya felt his breath pause.
Hadn’t he called for help? How did Sergei even know things that Katya was not aware of? How had they gotten to this point anyway?
"Why do you care?"
Sergei didn’t answer. Instead, he just stared. Looked at Katya on that bed like he was the only thing that was interesting in this room. There was something about the way he was looking at Katya that had Katya sighing.
This man was being unreasonable in his hospital room, and he didn’t even have answers for what he wanted. Maybe that was why Sergei was here. To make sure no one knew about his lost pregnancy? Maybe to never let Yaroslav know?
"I won’t tell anyone about the baby I lost, if that’s why you’re here. You must have already seen my chart anyway. Don’t worry, your precious family reputation will be intact," Katya whispered in defeat.
He had run out of things that could explain Sergei’s presence here. Maybe he was losing his mind, but the devil of Frolo was no savior, and he didn’t just walk into hospital rooms with offers like he was Santa.
"I don’t care about that," Sergei said sharply, and Katya flinched at his tone.
"I mean... The reputation. Not the... the... baby," Sergei corrected fast. A little too fast for Katya’s tired brain to even comprehend.
"What?" Katya breathed.
"You’re tired and need to rest," Sergei said, and Katya chuckled humorlessly.
The devil of Frolo? Here to talk him into getting rest? This whole day was just ridiculous, and Katya hated it.
"You’re delusional," Katya sighed.
"Maybe. But I come with an offer. Something you can’t refuse," Sergei said, and Katya laughed.
It was the only reaction he could think of with the way he was doped up on pain meds. Maybe he had finally lost his mind, and he was stuck in a simulation with Sergei Moskowsky.
"So that is really why you’re here. To silence me? I told you, I don’t care what Yaroslav does. He and I? We’re done. I’m not going back to that cheater. He can spend his life with Milan if he so wishes," Katya said defiantly.
Sergei smirked like he had won in life.
"Good," Sergei said, and Katya stared in confusion.
Was this man stupid or mentally afflicted, because there was no way they were understanding each other?
Someone needed to be locked up and treated for mental issues, and Katya was certain it was the barbarian in a three-piece suit who had walked in like he owned the hospital.
"What?"
"I told you already, this won’t be a nightmare, Solnyshka," Sergei said as Katya groaned in frustration.
