[YAROSLAV]
Yaroslav held his own against the guards Anya had sent him. His focus was particularly on the private elevator where he could see Katya. It was moving really fast.
Then it suddenly stopped.
At the forty-third floor.
There was nothing on that floor that could be related to his father or even Anya.
Granted, the company was theirs and whatnot, but his father and his aides never bothered with the lower levels. The seventieth floor was where things happened, and decisions were made. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
So, why in all hell was Katya stuck in an elevator on the 43rd floor then?
Yaroslav tried to get a better view, but the men didn’t stop coming, and boy was he pissed.
"Fine. You want to fight. I get it. I honestly do too. Got a lot of anger pent up for so many things. But I must tell you that I’m not in the mood. My omega is hurting, and if you don’t get out of my way, I will kill you," Yaroslav said, cocking his gun.
He had already had enough of the bullshit here. Katya was in pain, and no one was even seeing it. His omega was in so much distress, and now he was being scurried off to a place he didn’t even know.
The 43rd floor wasn’t even R&D.
Yaroslav had never known what was on all those other floors. But what he knew was that there was no justification for the elevator stopping.
"We have our orders," a man said, and Yaroslav stared at him as if to ask what this man was doing.
Of course, he knew why they had their orders.
But he was running out of time.
Katya hated closed spaces, and if they kept him in that darn moving container for long, his omega would have a panic attack.
And that was something that Yaroslav was not going to let happen.
"Alright. Anyone who takes a step forward will die. I won’t shoot to wound. I’ll shoot to kill. Before you do anything stupid, remember that I am my father’s son.
"He might punish me for killing you, but he will definitely kill you for scratching me. Choose your battle," Yaroslav said, pulling his daddy’s card.
He knew it was stupid and made him look weak.
But if there was anyone who terrified everyone here, then it was his father.
Everybody knew Sergei Moskowsky would ruin lives for his only child.
If they fucked around, there was no doubt they would find out... in the afterlife.
"You ca—" a man said as the three rushed toward Yaroslav.
Yaroslav fired.
Shot all four of them in the head, the dead bodies falling to the ground like it was nothing. He had used a silencer, which also meant that many would know what happened.
At least not this soon anyway.
After all, there was nothing they could do to him without pissing off his father, right?
"Can’t what? Are you willing to die so I don’t get it on my omega?" Yaroslav asked.
Again, it was a stupid question.
He knew they would lay down their lives for their orders.
He knew that was how they had been trained by his father. Orders were essential to keep their community functioning, and the only thing that was far more important than order was family.
And Yaroslav’s beloved was in the building.
Terrified out of his skin because of the chaos that came with the Moskowsky last name.
Gods, he had reality messed up, handy he?
"Alright, alright... Hold on... let’s call a truce then... I’ll make a call first, and then we can continue killing each other, alright?" Yaroslav said, and the men stared at him like he had lost his mind.
Truth is, he had.
He had fucked up, and it was costing his beloved his sanity.
It was ruining Katya’s life.
And that hurt Yaroslav more than anything.
The phone rang.
Once. Twice.
Thankfully, it was picked on the third ring.
"I’m not in the mood for your tantrums, kid," Anya said coldly, and Yaroslav glared at the people who surrounded him. He knew they would know eventually anyway.
"The private elevator moves too fast, Anya. Get him out before he has a panic attack. I know you hate me for whatever reason, but he didn’t do anything wrong. His only fault is loving me.
"Don’t make him suffer for that... please," Yaroslav said, his voice calm, patient, yet conveying the fears of a man who knew his beloved needed him.
The number of men had long increased, and this was a battle that Yaroslav knew he wouldn’t win fast.
The fact that his father wasn’t even here when a new chairman was being installed was unhinged on a certain level altogether.
"Why do you care? You cheated on him for years," Anya said coldly.
Yaroslav scoffed.
"I believe that is between me and him, Anya. I don’t have a problem with you, just... He’s not a bad person. He doesn’t deserve to suffer or be humiliated," Yaroslav said before hanging up.
He knew he had to think of a way to get to the bottom of whatever the fuck this was, because the Katya he knew wasn’t one to jump ship like that.
Katya was patient, understanding, and loved humanity way too much.
His Katya had the heart that many would fight wars for.
He deserved all the love in the world, not the misfortunes that had piled up on him.
Yaroslav knew he had messed up big time, but he would fix it.
He would make things right.
And if by then Katya still wanted to keep his last name as Moskowsky, Yaroslav wouldn’t fight him.
After all, he loved the omega too much. He would give him whatever name he wanted.
"Alright, fellas. Looks like we have to postpone this. I have somewhere to be, and I can’t stay here and fight you," Yaroslav tried to reason with his father’s men as if that was supposed to make it any better.
But at the same time, he had other appointments.
There was a board meeting in an hour, and he needed to be ready for that.
Ever since his father had disappeared, most of the board meetings were conducted online.
Anya was always the head of the meetings, and while Yaroslav wanted to talk her into letting him into the company and have a physical meet, seventy floors above ground wasn’t worth it when his father wasn’t even there.
"You guys will let me know if my father comes, right?" Yaroslav added, and they were sure this man had very well lost his fucking mind.
Who even considered shit like that?
Then again, any normal people would be worried about their father if they disappeared, but Sergei was used to taking long, random sabbaticals, and Yaroslav had long been trained to cope without him in those days.
He would only start looking for his father after the second week.
But for now...
The man was probably sitting his ass out on the beach with fine women and pretending to be happy when Yaroslav knew his father had only ever truly been happy with Vitya, his dad.
"I ruined my fucking shirt because of you," Yaroslav said exaggeratedly as he walked away.
However, before he could get into his car, he looked at the private elevator section again.
It was higher now.
And Yaroslav relaxed.
Because that meant Katya was okay.
Was he, though?
