[FROLO]
"So, the romance books told you to send cardless flower bouquets in the morning?" Anya asked when the conversation died on the other side of the door.
"No, why would I send fl— wait, what? Somebody sent flowers?" Sergei asked, his brain finally catching up.
It was a sight that Anya loved so much because this man was buffering every three seconds. Oh, it was new to her too, but she was eager to see what would come out of this after all, this was Sergei they were talking about.
"This is definitely worth my time. You can keep your half a million. I’ll watch this mess for free," Anya laughed, coughing amusedly at the glare she was getting from Sergei.
Then again, it wasn’t daily that she had to delay with the barbarian like this, yeah?
"This is NOT funny," Sergei sighed angrily.
"Oh, I don’t know. Mr. "You’re free now, Solnyshka." This is not even the beginning yet. Wait till Aleksandr starts buying him everything he wants," Anya added amusedly.
Sergei stared at Anya like he was contemplating whether his life would be a lot easier without Anya in it.
Granted, he would be a disaster, and the city would burn to the ground in hours, but still, it was better than being laughed at by Anya, no?
Oh, how tempting it was right now.
"He can’t buy that—" Sergei tried, but Anya raised a brow at him.
"Can’t he? The man has power and influence... And is actually liked by people," Anya said amusedly.
She was enjoying the man’s misery a lot.
"Shut up."
"Well, you get out of my office. You can go sulk in yours."
"I hate you."
"Yeah, right. You absolutely do... But tell me something first, boy genius, of all those romance 101 books, none of them told you to send your omega flowers?" Anya asked as if she had not already stressed the man out enough.
But in all fairness, Sergei had the option of leaving long before this.
Instead, he was standing with his back against the door, trying to figure out if he could still go back out there and tell Katya that the delay was off.
Sure, he would come off as an asshole, but Katya would eventually understand that it was for his own good, right?
"The books said to share a meal. I asked for dinner, and Solnyshka agreed, even said he’d share breakfast meals with me every morning. I didn’t think I had to send fucking flowers!" Sergei screeched in rage.
He was getting frustrated while Anya was not even the least bit bothered by the man’s tantrums.
This wasn’t the first time, and she was sure it wasn’t the last time either.
"Maybe next time try that first?" Anya suggested lightly, trying to hold back her laughter and smiling spectacularly.
"But—"
"Do NOT import flowers, Sergei," Anya said, like she could already read the man’s mind.
Of course, Sergei would always want to be better.
He was competitive.
He would try to get better flowers. But then, against flowers would eventually die, yet that didn’t occur to him.
All he had in mind was Katya receiving flowers that were not from him.
And he was losing his mind.
"Solnyshka deserves the best. Way better than those goddamn local flowers," Sergei pouted as he walked back to the couch, much to Anya’s dismay.
Especially when he went back under the blanket like he didn’t have an empire to run.
This man was insufferable.
"Ah, this stupid boy," Anya facepalmed as she stared at Sergei, who was already staring at her with defeated, angry eyes.
"Why would he even get flowers? He doesn’t need them!" the alpha complained, throwing one of the throw pillows on the floor.
However, one look at Anya had him pick it up and dust it off, then put the damn pillow on his side.
He was frustrated, and Anya’s commentary wasn’t helping him one bit.
"Sergei..." Anya sighed, clearly about to snuff this man for a whole of thirty seconds.
"I’m going to kill that senator," Sergei grumbled like a child who had lost his candy.
"Helping you is really hard sometimes, boy genius," Anya groaned.
"What is that supposed to mean?" the alpha asked, his eyes still raging.
"Do you think that if Aleksandr brought the flowers, he would not have come with them to the meeting?" Anya reasoned, and Sergei stared.
Of course, he stared.
His mind was too busy to even contemplate shit right now.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
Anya looked at the man as if this couldn’t be what Frolo was terrified of.
Surely there had to be something else that the city was seeing, right?
It couldn’t be the brat on her couch.
"I sent the flowers you retard!" Anya sighed dramatically.
"Why would you send my omeg—" Sergei asked, growling lowly, and Anya just stared at him as if to ask him if he was being serious at the moment.
"Don’t even think about it, or I will kill you myself. In fact, sit up and get out," Anya sighed tiredly.
"You bought my omega flowers," Sergei still growled, and Anya rolled her eyes at the man.
"Fine then. I’ll just tell him they were from Aleksandr," Anya said, and Sergei could swear he was living in a nightmare.
"What?"
"Sergei..."
"Why would you?"
"Because, stupid, I sent them for you. Instead of pissing me off in here, go out there and see if he likes the flowers or not. And next time you growl at me, I’ll shave that man bun you’re wearing.
"Now get the fuck out. Some of us have to work for a living," Anya shooed.
Of course, Sergei didn’t budge.
Instead...
"You sent them on my behalf?" the alpha asked as if he had just been handed the best gift of the century.
Maybe Anya was good for his health, even if she was terrorizing him with his thoughts more than he was terrorizing himself.
"No, I sent them for me, get out," Anya sighed exasperatedly.
"Anya..."
"Sergei, do not make me commit murder in the morning. Get out!" Anya sighed, her voice just high enough not to leave the room.
"You really sent them for me?"
"I’ll count to three, and if you’re still here, I’ll walk out of this office and tell your omega that the flowers were in fact from the senator," Anya warned, and Sergei glared at her as if she had just grown a new head.
"You wouldn’t"
"Try me"
"Anya..."
"Three..."
"Wait, Anya"
"Two..."
"Bu—"
"O—"
"Alright, I’m leaving. Jeez, you didn’t have to be such a pain in the morning," Sergei grumbled, getting up and straightening himself.
"Do not make me see you before Friday, unless you’re dying," Anya said, and Sergei sighed like this was the worst of punishments for him.
"Great. Just abandon me, will you?"
"You have lunch with your son. Get the fuck out!"
"Shit... I almost forgot. Alright, I’ll go now. Keep your phone on in case I’m actually dying,"
"I’m not a paramedic, boy genius," Anya said before she opened the door.
Sergei stuck his tongue out to her, then walked out, his face back to being cold and unreadable, while Anya just sighed like a woman who had had enough of her troublesome child.
Maybe she needed to put a sign on her door that said Sergei was not welcome in her office.
But would the idiot even follow it?
