### Chapter 98: Go to Hell!
Zachary Hawthorne said grimly, "Can’t you just calm down?! We can have more children. And I promise you, I will get to the bottom of what happened to your father."
"I don’t need you to investigate anything. All I want right now is for you to get lost. Take your precious first love, your ’white moonlight,’ and get the hell out of my life!" Nina Wainwright spat, her eyes red and her voice filled with hatred.
Zachary Hawthorne took a deep breath, his brow furrowed. "Nina, we’ve been married for three years. Don’t you have even the slightest bit of trust in me?"
Nina Wainwright averted her gaze. "No," she said flatly.
Zachary Hawthorne let out a cold laugh and stood up. Looking at Nina Wainwright’s profile, he said, "Get some rest. I will get to the bottom of what happened to the Wainwright Family, whether you believe me or not—"
"Zachary Hawthorne, I don’t need your investigation," Nina Wainwright cut him off, glaring at him sideways. "I’ve told you, I won’t believe a single word of whatever you find. The only thing you need to do right now is give me a divorce, plain and simple. Don’t force me to sue you. I know you’re powerful enough to cover up anything, and I probably won’t win, but I will drag this out as long as it takes..."
Her eyes held no trace of her past affection for him, only cold hatred.
The hands at Zachary Hawthorne’s sides clenched into fists.
"Do you have the money or the time to drag this out with me?" he retorted coldly.
"I’ll get a job," Nina Wainwright replied, her voice completely devoid of warmth.
Zachary Hawthorne turned and walked out.
After leaving the hospital room, he got back into his car. He turned to Silas Sinclair, who had followed him in. "This whole situation—you’ve investigated it? Are you sure the Sterling Family has nothing to do with it?"
"Correct. It’s more likely that one of your enemies used the Sterling Family’s name to deceive Raymond Wainwright, leading to this incident. I’m looking into it now. As soon as I find anything, I will report it to Miss Wainwright," Silas Sinclair said, his head bowed.
Zachary Hawthorne massaged his temples and gazed out the window.
His eyes were deep in thought. After a long silence, he said quietly, "Draft a divorce agreement."
Silas Sinclair’s eyes widened. "You’re going to divorce Miss Wainwright?"
"The Wainwright Family’s troubles are because of my family. I owe her this," Zachary Hawthorne said coldly. "Give her three hundred million in compensation. The Avelon Residence is hers, and the cars too—don’t forget them. Only you and I are to know about this agreement."
’If Nina found out, then her mother, Mrs. Wainwright, would find out too.’
’This wealth was for Nina Wainwright alone. In the future, when she was truly at a dead end, it would find its way to her.’
Silas Sinclair murmured his assent.
"That business with Luna Sterling telling her she was pregnant with my child," Zachary Hawthorne asked again, his brow furrowed, "have you made any headway on that?"
"I’ve investigated," Silas Sinclair replied quietly. "Miss Sterling claims to know nothing about it. I checked with the phone company, and I went through Miss Wainwright’s and her call records. I did find one text message, but it was deleted from Miss Sterling’s phone immediately after it was sent. My guess is that Talia Talbot or Caleb Ford sent it to Miss Wainwright on purpose."
’Caleb Ford and Talia Talbot had always despised Nina Wainwright and were constantly finding ways to bully her. It was entirely possible they would send a malicious message like that.’
Zachary Hawthorne fell silent.
’Just one message, and Nina held onto that grudge until now. Even while pregnant with their child, she wouldn’t talk to him about it.’
’To put it bluntly, they lacked the trust that a husband and wife should have for one another.’
Back at Avelon Residence.
Just as Silas Sinclair was about to start drafting the agreement, Zachary Hawthorne spoke up. "Hold off on that for now."
Silas stopped. He understood that Zachary still couldn’t bear to let Nina go. He offered, "Miss Wainwright just lost her child and her father. She’s emotionally unstable right now, which is why she’s demanding a divorce. Maybe after she has some time to cool down, things will get better."
Zachary Hawthorne waved him away. "You can leave for now. I need to rest."
In the morgue.
Mrs. Wainwright kept watch by the door. Now homeless, she stared down the cold, silent corridor, feeling no fear at all.
The initial hatred and pain had slowly given way to numbness.
The CLICK-CLACK-CLACK of high heels echoed down the hallway.
Luna Sterling stopped in front of her. Looking down at the disheveled woman on the floor, she asked with a pained expression, "Ma’am, where is your daughter?"
Mrs. Wainwright remained silent, her lips dry and cracked. She shot Luna Sterling a vacant glance before looking away again.
Luna Sterling crouched down, her voice dripping with sympathy. "I know how painful it must be to lose your husband, but you really can’t blame your daughter for this. If anyone’s to blame, it’s the Wainwright Family for insisting she marry him."
"I’m carrying Zachary Hawthorne’s child, too... Soon, Zachary will divorce Nina. And that thirty million you owe... isn’t that just a death sentence for her?" Luna Sterling said, staring into the older woman’s eyes with a faint smile.
The moment Mrs. Wainwright heard that Luna was carrying Zachary’s child, she let out a guttural scream and lunged, grabbing a handful of her hair. "Have you no shame?! Zachary is married to my daughter, and you dare to screw around with him behind her back?!"
Luna Sterling didn’t seem to feel the pain of her hair being pulled; in fact, she looked thrilled. Her eyes locked onto Mrs. Wainwright as she whispered, "Look at how pathetic the Wainwright Family is. A man died over a paltry thirty million. Your daughter was carrying Zachary’s child, and I made sure she lost it. And yet you still disowned her... Tsk, tsk. Meanwhile, Zachary can buy me a thirty-million-dollar diamond ring without a second thought."
Mrs. Wainwright’s eyes nearly burst from their sockets with rage. She yanked harder on Luna Sterling’s hair and slammed her head against the wall. "You bitch! You destroyed my family! You killed my husband! Go to hell!"
Luna Sterling’s head was smashed against the wall, leaving her battered and bleeding.
Hearing the commotion from outside, Talia Talbot and Caleb Ford rushed in.
Morgue staff were in the process of pulling Mrs. Wainwright and Luna Sterling apart.
Seeing Luna Sterling on the ground with blood all over her face, Talia Talbot flew into a rage. She marched over and slapped Mrs. Wainwright hard. "So someone in your family died! What the hell does that have to do with her?! She heard you disowned your daughter and came here to check on you, and this is how you repay her? You attack her! You crazy old hag!"
Her face contorted with hatred, Mrs. Wainwright lunged at Talia Talbot.
Talia Talbot grabbed her by the hair and, without a shred of courtesy, flung her aside.
Mrs. Wainwright crashed into the wall, a sharp pain lancing through her lower back. Her face went pale. Propping herself up, she glared at them with pure hatred. "You’re bullying the Wainwrights... bullying my daughter..."
Tears welled in Luna Sterling’s eyes. "How did we ever harm your family? You’re the ones who took out the loan. Just because your daughter claims we tricked you doesn’t make it our fault, right? You need evidence for accusations like that..."
Caleb Ford said with a grim expression, "Why bother reasoning with her? The Wainwrights only have eyes for money. They took on debt, someone ended up dead, and now they blame heaven and earth, anyone but themselves." 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
Mrs. Wainwright couldn’t stay on her feet any longer. She collapsed to the floor, clutching her throbbing lower back.
"Let’s go." Seeing her state, Luna Sterling knew she had accomplished her goal.
Talia Talbot helped her out of the room.
Just then, they ran into Zachary Hawthorne and Silas Sinclair, who were on their way in.
The moment Silas Sinclair saw the blood on Luna Sterling’s forehead, his brow furrowed involuntarily.
Zachary Hawthorne stepped forward, his expression dark. "What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to see if there was anything I could do to help," Luna Sterling said, then gently bit her lip.
