### Chapter 66: Do It Again, and Get Out Yourself!
"Thank you for thinking of me, even as you’re about to leave. But I think things will get better. It seems like Zachary Hawthorne is finally considering a divorce," Nina Wainwright said, her voice tinged with relief.
Adrian Pemberton was curious. "What made him give in?"
"I just made him dislike me, that’s all," Nina Wainwright said nonchalantly.
’As long as Luna Sterling keeps stirring up trouble and I do my best to take the blame, Zachary Hawthorne will gradually get tired of me.’
’That way, I can finally be free of Zachary Hawthorne for good.’
"Does he love Luna Sterling?" Adrian Pemberton pressed.
"He seems to like her a lot. We’ve fought quite a bit lately, and it’s always because of Luna Sterling. I guess he’s tired of pretending," Nina Wainwright said with a shrug, her voice full of feigned indifference.
Adrian Pemberton sighed. "Divorce is a messy business. There’s a cooling-off period, and during that time, if he has any second thoughts and backs out, it’ll be very difficult for you to finalize it. I still suggest you save any evidence you can. You need to plan more for your own sake."
"I will," Nina Wainwright said.
The three parted ways at the clinic. Catherine Grant drove Nina Wainwright to a friend’s bar, chattering excitedly along the way. "It’s such a shame! He came back for a bit last time but had to leave again almost immediately. He’s opened a bunch of new locations and has to travel to them to train the bartenders... He’s super busy."
"Could I work at his bar?" Nina Wainwright asked.
"Zachary Hawthorne and his people can be difficult. We’ll have to wait until you’re completely divorced, until he’s really out of your life and has no more hold over you. Only then could you go there." Catherine Grant scratched her cheek, her tone apologetic. "It’s not that I don’t want you to, but my friend has a bit of a temper... he really hates drama."
"It’s okay. I can look for a job on my own," Nina Wainwright said quickly.
’I know it’ll be hard to find a job in my condition, especially since I’m pregnant.’
’Most women get to rest at home when they’re pregnant, but I have to find a job just to save up a little money for myself.’
"I should transfer you that prize money from last time. As long as I’m still with Zachary Hawthorne, I don’t dare touch the money in my account. I’m worried he might cause trouble for you." Nina owed her money and felt terrible about it.
"What’s the rush? It’s not like I’m hurting for that hundred thousand. If you’re looking for a job, I’ll help you. We’ll find something light. You’re pregnant, you can’t overexert yourself." Catherine Grant couldn’t bear the thought of letting Nina fend for herself.
’Finding a job is hard enough as it is, and it takes so much time.’
’Nina has no car, no money, and no connections. She’s been isolated for the three years she’s been married, so she has no work experience whatsoever.’
"Thank you, and I’m so sorry to be troubling you," Nina Wainwright said, her face full of apology.
’I know full well that I only have myself to blame for getting to this point. I was foolish and got swept up, making love my entire world... By the time I came to my senses, three years had passed, and I had no advantages left.’
"We’re friends! How can you call this ’trouble’?!" Catherine couldn’t care less about being inconvenienced. ’Right now, I’m just thinking about introducing Nina to a few great guys. The moment she and Zachary Hawthorne get divorced, I’ll line them all up for her. That’ll make Zachary Hawthorne realize what a charming wife he’s lost!’
Seeing her friend’s excitement, Nina Wainwright gave a resigned smile.
The two arrived at The Moonlight Bar. Catherine Grant immediately went up to the young woman at the bar and said, "I heard you have a relative who opened a hotel. Think you could help me get someone a job there?"
She was so direct that Nina Wainwright felt a little embarrassed.
"Her?" The bartender swirled the drink in her hand, sizing up Nina. "I remember her. The girl who was an incredible dancer last time. She needs a job?"
"She can’t dance right now. She’s not feeling well and needs to rest for about a year before she can get back to it." Catherine Grant leaned on the bar. "Come on, help us out. I’ll load a hundred thousand onto my bar tab, what do you say?"
"What can she do?" the bartender asked, setting the drink down.
"I told you, we’re just trying to get her a spot. Something easy. She can’t do any heavy lifting," Catherine Grant pressed, shamelessly wheedling.
The bartender sighed. "I’ll ask my uncle when I get home tonight."
Catherine Grant immediately spun around and grabbed Nina’s hand. "We’re in!"
Nina actually felt quite bad.
’She’s a girl who wants for nothing, and here she was, begging people on my behalf because of my mistakes.’
She smiled at Catherine Grant, her heart filled with remorse.
Catherine Grant didn’t notice the shift in her mood. She pulled Nina’s hand, leading her to a seat by the window, and chattered, "Even though you can’t drink alcohol, I can order you a fruit platter, some milk tea, and all your favorite things to eat. We haven’t had a good chat like this in ages."
Hearing her friend’s words, Nina couldn’t help but relax. "Yeah, we used to gossip all the time."
’That was three years ago... Ever since I got married, I’ve barely kept in touch with Catherine.’
’Thankfully, Catherine always made a point to message me every now and then, just to talk.’
"Thank you for not giving up on me these past three years," Nina told her.
"Don’t say silly things. We’re going to be friends for life," Catherine Grant muttered, pulling out her phone to order for her.
The two stayed at the bar all morning. Around lunchtime, Catherine drove Nina back to Avelon Residence.
When the maid saw her return, she immediately called out, "Ma’am, you’re back. I’ll have the kitchen prepare your lunch right away."
Nina glanced at the maid. "Did someone say I wasn’t coming back?"
"Not exactly, but we weren’t sure if you would be back. I called Assistant Sinclair, and he told us to just use our own judgment. Since you hadn’t returned, I told the kitchen to wait," the maid said.
’Before, they would have made lunch for her regardless.’
’But the maid had sensed from Silas Sinclair’s words that things had changed between Miss Wainwright and Mr. Hawthorne.’
’When the master of the house doesn’t value the mistress, the staff naturally slacks off.’
’Maybe before long, there wouldn’t be a place for her in this residence at all.’
"Then have the kitchen prepare it," Nina said, heading upstairs.
The maid caught the faint scent of alcohol on Nina. As soon as Nina was out of sight on the second floor, the maid immediately called Silas Sinclair.
Once the call connected, she whispered to Silas Sinclair, "The missus was out all morning, and she came back smelling of alcohol... Also, she’s been using sanitary pads lately and sometimes she’s still bleeding. I wonder if there’s something wrong with her health, but she’s still going out drinking and being careless?"
"Who told you to watch her so closely?! Your job is to manage the chores at the residence, not to spy on her!" Silas Sinclair scolded harshly. "Do it again, and get out yourself!"
The maid pursed her lips but said nothing more.
Back in the office, Silas Sinclair hung up and immediately returned to Zachary Hawthorne’s office. He began respectfully, "Miss Wainwright today—"
"I told you, you don’t need to report her business to me," Zachary Hawthorne cut him off, his tone impatient as he stared at the contract on his computer.
Silas Sinclair thought about what the maid had said—about Nina constantly using sanitary pads—and couldn’t help but feel a flicker of concern.
