###Chapter 87: Apologize to Nina!
Nina Wainwright whispered, "Thank you."
But the ice in the freezer was made from expensive, high-quality water, so she wasn’t sure if it was suitable for putting on her face.
"Okay, thank you. Can I get you something to drink?" Nina Wainwright asked gently.
"Worry about your own face first. Why are you so worried about me?" the woman said irritably.
Nina Wainwright couldn’t help but smile faintly. "What’s your name?"
"I’m Lana Langley," the woman replied, then sat down at the bar.
Just as Nina Wainwright was about to mix a Bamboo for her, Chloe Chapman arrived. She sat down next to Lana Langley and stared at her coldly. "I already know where you work. Your boss will be firing you very soon."
Lana Langley couldn’t be bothered to acknowledge her.
She took out her phone and sent a message, then looked up at Chloe Chapman beside her. "Miss Chapman, is it? Even if you chase away every pretty bartender here with your incessant pestering, Mr. Larkin still won’t like you."
Nina Wainwright kept her eyes down, conveniently eavesdropping on the drama.
Chloe Chapman’s defenses were immediately shattered. She snapped, "Instead of worrying about my business, you should be worrying about your own job."
"It’s not like I can’t find another job. Does your family have enough power to control the entire country?" Lana Langley asked with a cold laugh.
Nina Wainwright finished mixing Lana Langley’s drink, then turned to Chloe Chapman. "Ma’am, would you like to order a drink?"
"Who would want to drink anything you make? It’s disgusting!" Chloe Chapman said, full of contempt.
Nina Wainwright didn’t press the issue. She turned to look at the queue of orders still displayed on the computer screen.
The customers who had been watching the spectacle also drifted back in.
They sat back down at their tables, quietly whispering about Chloe Chapman.
Chloe Chapman was a regular at The Moonlight Bar. Even first-time customers were left with a deep impression of her, simply because she spent money lavishly. With a daily tab of a hundred thousand, she was like one of those rich female players in an online game—a well-known figure in this bar.
Lana Langley took a sip of her Bamboo. "This is the drink that really hits the spot," she told Nina Wainwright.
Nina Wainwright felt a little worried for her.
’Is it really okay to lose her job?’ She had experienced the hardship of job hunting herself and was terrified that Chloe Chapman would target Lana Langley. If that happened, just getting by would be difficult, let alone enjoying fine drinks here.
"I’m learning to make more drinks. Once I’ve perfected some new ones, I hope you’ll come back to try them," Nina Wainwright said politely.
Lana Langley smiled and raised her glass. "I definitely will."
When she had a moment to go to the restroom, Nina Wainwright took out her phone and sent a message to Catherine Grant.
Thanks to Chloe Chapman’s commotion, the bar was actually quite busy this morning.
Nina Wainwright mixed many of the drinks she knew. Even if the customers didn’t love them, they were lenient with her because she was new.
They were also lenient because of what she had said to Chloe Chapman.
After all, isn’t everyone just trying to make a living?
Her dignified and composed attitude left a good impression on the crowd.
Just as Catherine Grant arrived, Leo Larkin also walked in.
The moment he entered, he saw the heavy imprint of a slap on Nina Wainwright’s cheek.
Frowning, he walked over to Chloe Chapman. "Did you do this?"
"I didn’t," Chloe Chapman denied flatly.
Lana Langley scoffed. "So many people saw you hit her, and there are security cameras at the bar’s entrance. Should we roll the footage?"
"Why don’t you mind your own damn business?!" Chloe Chapman shrieked.
Catherine Grant stormed over, grabbed a handful of Chloe Chapman’s hair, and slapped her across the face before shoving her away forcefully.
Chloe Chapman stumbled into a nearby table, clutching her face as she stared at Catherine Grant in disbelief.
Catherine Grant put her hands on her hips. "You hit my girl? You must have a death wish!"
Of course Chloe Chapman knew Catherine Grant. The Grant Family’s business was successful, but Chloe felt her own family was no slouch either. How could she tolerate being bullied like this?!
"How dare you hit me!" she shrieked, getting up to attack Catherine Grant.
Leo Larkin stepped in front of Catherine Grant, catching Chloe Chapman’s wrist. "If you’re here to cause trouble, get out. Otherwise, I’ll call the police."
"Leo! I’m your biggest-spending customer—"
"You chose to spend that money yourself. The bar didn’t pressure you to spend so much. So don’t think that just because you’re the biggest spender, you can trample on the dignity of my staff," Leo Larkin said, his face cold.
’If Nina Wainwright had done something wrong, it would have been understandable for Chloe to teach her a lesson. That’s just how the service industry is.’
’Serving the customer well is their primary principle.’
"So you think she’s more important than me?" Chloe Chapman’s eyes turned red. "And her friend, Catherine Grant, hit me too."
"You hit her first. You called the bartender downstairs and slapped her in front of everyone on the street, telling her to leave this bar," Lana Langley interjected from the side.
Catherine Grant poked her head out from behind Leo Larkin. "So you think you didn’t deserve to be hit? You think I don’t know my Nina? She’s the kindest, most gentle person, and her attitude toward customers is the best. There’s no way she would have offended you without a reason."
Behind the bar, Nina Wainwright remained silent, simply polishing a glass in her hands.
Leo Larkin released Chloe Chapman’s hand, his expression grim. "Whatever is left on your membership card will be refunded in full, down to the last cent. But from now on, The Moonlight Bar will no longer welcome customers like you. You can leave now."
He wouldn’t take action against Chloe Chapman; after all, she was a paying customer.
But he didn’t welcome troublemakers, no matter how much they spent.
"Leo, you know I’m doing this for you! The other bartenders said she was special, that you were teaching her personally—"
"Which bartender told you that?" Leo Larkin asked coldly.
There were only a few bartenders at The Moonlight Bar. Four worked the night shift—two in the first half, two in the second.
He thought of Lucy Stratton.
Lucy Stratton had disliked Nina Wainwright from the very beginning.
Chloe Chapman huffed. "I’m not telling."
"You can go now," Leo Larkin said calmly. "Don’t make me call security."
"But you really do need to hire security. Nina getting slapped for no reason makes me very unhappy," Catherine Grant pouted.
If Chloe Chapman and Leo Larkin’s relationship was merely that of a customer and an owner, then Catherine Grant’s relationship with him was one of genuine friendship.
Leo Larkin was on very good terms with the young masters of the Grant Family, so Catherine Grant was practically a little sister to him.
"Mm," Leo Larkin replied.
Chloe Chapman immediately glared at Catherine Grant.
Seeing this, Catherine Grant immediately lifted her chin. "What? My relationship with Leo is something you could never even dream of. Jealous? Then be jealous. You’re just a customer, after all. Spending a hundred thousand a day? You think I can’t afford that? I’m just not a show-off like you, you nouveau riche brat!"
"Alright, that’s enough. Where you can forgive, you should," Leo Larkin said with a frown.
Hearing this, Catherine Grant immediately raised her voice. "Then why didn’t she forgive Nina! Slapping Nina in the middle of the street! Does Nina deserve that? Doesn’t she have any pride? Just because she’s a bartender?!"
With that, she pushed Leo Larkin aside and grabbed Chloe Chapman by the collar. "Apologize to her! Or I’ll raise hell at your family’s home, and you can forget about spending a hundred thousand a day anywhere!"
