Wait! How Did The Stray Dog I Picked Up Turn Into A Man?!

There was one miracle that often happened in packs. And it was the fast regenerative ability of an Alpha’s cub. No matter how wounded, once they came in contact with their father, the Alpha, a dying cub could be brought back to half of their health.

And all they had to do was pray to the moon goddess in that moment.

And Noah planned to use this, even in the midst of so many people, to help his hurting daughter.

Steven had the same idea as well. No way would he allow his boy to keep hurting, just because he didn’t want others to see the miracle they could perform.

So, Noah clenched his daughter’s hand tightly, but not so tightly that it would hurt her, and then prayed to the moon goddess.

Slowly, the air in the ambulance shifted. His Alpha aura seeped out uncontrollably, wrapping around her small frame, not suffocating but shielding. The medics blinked, startled at what was going on, and then on the monitor, Olivia’s vitals steadied just slightly, enough to put her out of danger.

"Her condition... It’s stabilizing," one of them murmured in disbelief.

Michael, standing frozen in the doorway, realized it then. It was something he hadn’t seen before. A miracle like this.

Josh had stopped trembling with his father’s prayer. His eyes felt heavy, and he stirred beside Olivia, his eyes heavy like rocks were weighing them down, but he managed to open his eyes.

He didn’t feel as weak anymore and the pain had lessened as well. So, he wanted to open his eyes and see Olivia, hoping she was getting better as well.

When he finally opened his eyes, he saw Noah holding Olivia and she seemed better than before. He let out a soft whimper as though he were still in his wolf form. But he was crying. He was crying because he was relieved.

"It’s alright," Steven said, stroking his hair. "It’s fine now."

Noah looked at both of them, his jaw tight with his clenched teeth and then he spoke with command in his tone.

"Now. Take them to the hospital."

He moved the medics who had been frozen in disbelief by what they saw and they quickly got in, ready to head to the hospital right away.

Michael climbed into the ambulance, planning to go with them, and watched Noah, clutching his daughter’s free hand, and Olivia, who had fallen asleep again but was breathing with more ease now.

His tears hadn’t stopped but they were silent, rolling down like soft dew drops. He saw that everything was fine now, and Olivia was out of danger, but still, the tears wouldn’t stop, but Thankfully, the crushing weight on his chest eased just enough to let him breathe again.

As the ambulance doors shut, Alyssa and Roland watched from afar.

They would follow slowly from behind.

The police still wanted to get their statements on the matter but they refused to cooperate and just left.

If they wanted to know what had happened, they could ask the kids.

Of course, the children might talk about Josh suddenly turning into a wolf but who would take such a story from children who had been frightened and locked away in the dark?

They must’ve seen it wrong, the police would think.

In the hospital, Olivia and Josh were under operation for a while. About two hours till the lights above the operating theater glowed green and the doctors came out, taking off their nose masks and turning to the two sets of parents.

"Right now, both children are out of danger." He said and Michael’s heart finally fell at ease. "They’ll need to recuperate for a few days though. Please come with me to sign a few papers while they’re transferred to their ward."

Noah and Steven went with the doctor while Michael stayed and watched them roll the children to their ward.

They looked so peaceful and it looked like they were simply sleeping. But that would’ve been the case if the oxygen mask hadn’t been on Olivia’s mouth and they both hadn’t had drips attached to them.

The sight of it broke Michael’s heart.

This wouldn’t have happened if they hadn’t come to Disneyland today. Olivia would never have lost her smile and had to go through something like this.

But as soon as he thought of that, he shook his head.

That was exactly what the mastermind wanted them to think. He wanted them to blame their visit and cause them to limit their outings.

He wanted their childhood to be restricted and cause their parents to fear ever taking them anywhere ever again.

But Michael didn’t want that. He didn’t want Olivia to be bound by such a set of rules that could make the rest of her life boring and dull, afraid of the world outside.

She deserved laughter, sunlight, and memories she would look back on with joy. And no faceless coward hiding in the shadows was going to take that away from her.

He brushed her hair gently away from her forehead and whispered,

"You’ll still smile again, sweetheart. Papa will make sure of it."

When Noah and Steven returned with the signed papers, they paused at the door and watched the still atmosphere.

Michael wasn’t saying anything. He simply pressed his baby girl’s hand on his forehead, as if wanting to feel her warmth for as long as she was unconscious.

When would she wake up? He wondered. How would she react once she woke up?

He had better prepare something nice for her. A nice hot meal. And then chocolate too, so she’d feel better.

Noah finally took a step, walked in, and placed his hand on Michael’s back.

"It’s going to be fine." He said, and Michael nodded, though he didn’t let go of Olivia’s hand.

Steven also walked in but he walked towards the other side where Josh was lying unconscious.

He didn’t speak a word, only sat by Josh’s side, his hand stroking his boy’s hair gently while his eyes stayed fixed on the small chest that rose and fell with the help of the machines.

Seeing him in that condition, Steven’s heart was pierced deeper than any wound he had ever taken as a warrior. He felt guilty... Guilty that his son had gone through something like this, guilty that he hadn’t been there to protect him.

At that point, he was right in front of him and yet he couldn’t even reach for him. He felt he had failed.

But even in his guilt, he made a silent vow: never again. Never again would Josh face something this dangerous without him.

Soon after, the doctors and nurses walked into the ward and they gave them space.

They moved around, checking the children, adjusting the tubes and drips, checking their temperature, and making sure there was nothing wrong with their vitals.

Michael lingered by Olivia’s bedside, his fingers wrapped around her much smaller hand, and his other hand close to his mouth. He looked like he was biting his fingers but he was whispering a silent prayer.

He wasn’t a werewolf, but since he was the mate of the Alpha, he very much belonged to the pack, so his prayers... He wished his prayers would reach the moon goddess, just as they did when Noah prayed and performed a miracle.

’I have never been one to take on a religion.’ Michael thought. ’I strongly believed that there was no god, since I had to suffer so much, praying and calling out to an existence that stayed silent. I always prayed for a miracle but it never came... Not until I met Noah. So, that entity that guided Noah to me, if it’s you, moon goddess, then I place my child into your care. Do not let anything happen to her. Please.’

These were the contents of the prayer he muttered over and over while holding onto Olivia’s hand.

Noah stood behind them like a steady pillar, his hand on Michael’s shoulder and his eyes closed as though still calling silently to the Moon Goddess.

Whatever happens, he just wanted his child to be safe.

Soon after, it was late and Alyssa and Roland arrived with deliveries. It was already very late, a little over 12 am in the morning and they hadn’t eaten anything, which was a bit alarming.

Even if the children weren’t in sound shape, they, as their parents needed to stay strong at least.

But Michael didn’t have any appetite. He said,

"I don’t think I can throw anything into my mouth right now." He said, his countenance dull and his eyes fixed on little Olivia.

"But..." Alyssa probed but then went silent, biting her lip. She knew how he felt and didn’t even know what to say to convince him.

"You don’t have to worry, though." Michael said, "Just put the food over there. I’ll eat when I can." He said, but it was clear that he had no plans of eating, so Noah instructed them to get something like bread or other snacks, chocolate included once the sun rose.

Once Michael was hungry, even if there was no food, he would at least be able to eat some snacks.

Noah’s phone began to ring and he saw the caller was Sebastian.

"Excuse me." He said and walked out. "Speak."
