"I’m sorry for my disrespect." Michael quickly apologized, his hands trembling but he clutched them together. "I must be drunk." He said and Noah clenched his hand in his pocket into a fist.

He hated this uncomfortable feeling.

Michael raised his head and faintly smiled, like someone who had acknowledged they were at fault.

"I made a mistake." He said. "I’m just the new janitor, so please forgive me this once."

Noah looked into his eyes and though it looked like he understood what the situation was, there was still so much hurt in his eyes.

Being answered coldly by Noah, whom he wanted to meet so badly, hurt so much that he could cry. And he would.

But first... He needed to get out of there where everyone was watching.

He... He couldn’t handle that cold gaze.

"It’s fine." Noah said and dusted his arm to keep up the act. "Don’t try to drink in the early mornings next time. If you’re here to clean," he turned away. "Then focus on that."

Michael had his head bowed, his body trembling. He hated this. He hated this so much, but what he hated more was how he had been such an idiot.

Why did he come here without thinking first? Why was he so stupid? Desperately stupid, only to meet this.

He raised his gaze to watch Noah’s back as he walked away and then he also turned away, biting his lips and rushing out of there as he felt the tears he was doing his best to hold back welling up even more.

Noah kept walking but then he stopped. His assistant and the executives looked at him, wondering if he was still bothered by that janitor.

Sebastian watched him and he felt like he knew what he was going to do next. There was no way he would leave Michael be after doing such a thing to him.

He might’ve been able to keep up the act with eyes on him but if he left things as they were now, he would certainly never be able to live with himself.

He would never be at peace.

And so, he predicted the next thing Noah did.

"Carry on without me." He said, turning away.

"Ah, sir. But the meeting..." His assistant chipped in but he raised his hand.

"It’s fine." He said, "I’ll be gone for a brief moment since I’m only going to get something."

They looked at him, puzzled. What could he have forgotten that led him to decide to delay attending the meeting?

Sebastian watched as he walked with long but calm strides in the direction Michael had run into.

Yeah, he had suspected this. But he would not stop him.

"We shall head to the meeting hall and start as scheduled." He said to them and they nodded.

Since Noah already said they could carry on without him, they couldn’t defy Sebastian’s words.

Once Noah was out of prying eyes, he began to run. He ran to catch up with Michael, his heart racing in discomfort and his blood boiling.

He couldn’t be at ease. How could he when he saw that expression on Michael’s face? How could he when he was seeing him for the first time in days?

He shut his eyes and then opened them. He wanted to hold Michael in his arms and push aside the reason Michael risked coming here in broad daylight for others to see.

He would first hold him, kiss his lips, touch him a lot to remind his body of the kind of warmth they used to share and...

He caught sight of Michael standing in front of what looked like the back stairs for emergencies that involved broken elevators.

What was he going to do there? Was there a back door that led outside from there?

Whatever, this was fine.

"Michael," he called and Michael turned only for Noah to grab his arm and then drag him through the door, shutting it immediately.

Michael’s heart was thumping but with more guilt than excitement.

They were alone in that fairly dark staircase, and he could hear Noah’s breathing so vividly. Did he run? Why was he out of breath?

He wanted to ask these questions but then he couldn’t bring himself to even look at Noah’s face, scared to see that cold gaze once more. Or even worse, the look of disappointment.

He had made a mistake. He came here despite knowing it was wrong. He put both of them in danger. He...

"Huh?"

"Say something." Noah said and Michael finally raised his head, only for his eyes to widen as he saw the blush on Noah’s face and how it looked like he was suppressing himself a great deal. "Say something, Michael. If not I... I just might do whatever I want."

"Whatever..." Michael muttered and then gulped, his face flushing. "You want?"

Ah, he loved the sound of that. It was very insinuating and he knew just what Noah meant.

He, too, wanted that.

Words could not express these feelings, and no matter how many times they said ’I miss you,’ it would never catch the exact feeling of longing that gnawed at their hearts.

Michael’s eyes teared up. Noah wasn’t going to blame him because he knew exactly what he was feeling and why he had done whatever he did. He just... Wanted to be with him.

"I..." Michael finally opened his mouth to speak. "I missed you so freaking much."

With that, Noah locked his lips with his, kissing him roughly yet passionately. He interlocked their fingers, dropping Michael’s hands on the wall.
