Han Ruochen initially didn’t want to expose the truth about Meng Yunhan giving their family’s savings to someone else, and that too to her old lover. Of course, Han Ruochen was not stupid enough to expose the matter of Yun Xinye right away. She didn’t have enough evidence to prove that Meng Yunhan was having an affair, and if she were to expose the truth right now, she would only give Meng Yunhan an opportunity to turn the situation around.

But Meng Yunhan kept threatening her freedom; Han Ruochen could not help it and revealed Meng Yunhan’s little secret. She wanted to see what Meng Yunhan was going to do once her father found out that she had stolen all of their savings.

At last, Han Ruochen was forced to agree to marry and give up her job. But when Han Ziyan heard Han Ruochen’s words, she was really furious. What did she mean by saying that she was not worthy of it? Why did she bring up her grades? Didn’t this mean that Han Ruochen was willing to sacrifice herself even when Han Ziyan should be the one doing what she was doing, as Han Ziyan was not as skilled or talented as her?

"Do you not understand human words anymore?" Han Yichen was also angry now. His Ruochen had been forced to give up on such a good job due to Han Ziyan. Meng Yunhan was not guilty of it, but she was still pushing his daughter. What kind of mother was she? Doting on the daughter of her late sister and making their own biological daughter suffer. "You really think that Ruochen’s job is something that could be done by just opening one’s mouth? Fine, since you want to marry Ruochen off, then we will marry Ziyan off too."

For Han Ziyan’s sake, if this woman wanted to harm his daughter, then he would hit her when it hurt the most.

"MOM!" Han Ziyan was frightened. She knew what kind of man her mother was going to marry Han Ruochen off to; if Han Yichen was serious, then her future was going to be ruined!

"Why are you yelling at Ziyan for?" Meng Yunhan was like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She glared at Han Yichen and said, "Character comes before anything else. If Han Ruochen were as obedient as Han Ziyan, then would I be so strict with her? Ziyan is not getting involved with thugs or hooligans. She is not going astray, and so I am not worried. Don’t you know it varies from person to person? Just because Han Ruochen is smart doesn’t mean that she is going to be a good wife."

Clearly, it was simply unreasonable, as Han Ziyan has a rendezvous with her soon-to-be brother-in-law, but Meng Yunhan was speaking as if it made all the sense.

"Dad, actually, there is something that I haven’t told you, but I think you should know it now. There is something that Aunt Luo told me." A dark glint flashed in Han Ruochen’s eyes as she decided to make a big move.

"What?" Han Yichen turned to look at Han Ruochen with a bewildered expression. Why did Han Ruochen bring up Luo Zheqing out of nowhere?

"Aunt Luo told me that she heard Mother asking the matchmaker to bring a rich man’s proposal for me. She told the matchmaker that no matter what the age, even if the man is sixty years old, as long as he provides a good bride price, she is willing to marry me off to him. I want to ask, what is going on? Why is my mother so desperate for money? Is it because we really don’t have money or is it because she cannot see me doing well?"

"Nonsense, how can my, Han Yichen’s, daughter be married off to an old man, and that too for a high bride price?" Han Yichen’s face was as fierce as an old tiger as he sensed something amiss. No matter how brave and courageous Meng Yunhan was, she would never be daring enough to marry Han Ruochen off to an old man unless she was in a desperate situation.

"Meng Yunhan, hand me the passbook; I want to see the savings statement," he recalled the strange look on Meng Yunhan’s face when they argued about the passbook the last time and suddenly he understood everything.

"See...see...what do you mean by this? Are you doubting me, Old Han?" Meng Yunhan was so scared that she stammered, and her tone turned faint.
