"Don’t cry. Don’t cry." Meng Yunhan was quite flustered when she saw Han Ziyan crying. She reached out and hugged Han Ziyan before saying to her, "Don’t you know that when you cry, my heart starts aching?"

"But, Mom, how can my sister do this? She clearly agreed to give me the job yesterday, but when I went to sign the documents, she told me that she was no longer going to hand me the job, as I am not suitable." Han Ziyan was truly upset. Isn’t your mom with you? I will make sure that wild girl learns her lesson and stops going against you. Just wait; once she gets back, I will talk with her." And by ’talk’, she meant she would give Han Ruochen a good beating until that girl gave in.

Han Ziyan nodded. She felt pleased; with Meng Yunhan and Yang Jianming looking after her, she was sure that Han Ruochen would have no choice but to hand that job to her on a silver platter.

The two of them had no idea that when they were talking, a pair of shiny eyes was looking at them.

On the other hand, after the school day was over, Han Ruochen sent the students back home with their parents. She finished her daily tasks, and by the time she was done, it was way past four in the evening. The sky had turned dark because of the clouds rolling over. Han Ruochen raised her head and looked at the sky.

Her eyes flickered uneasily when she saw how the sky was getting darker and darker. Today, she had a conflict with Han Ziyan, and she didn’t dare to think that Yang Jianming or Meng Yunhan would leave her alone. The two of them treated Han Ziyan as the apple of their eyes. Now that she had gone against her, either of them would surely make things difficult for her.

Thinking about it, she turned around and went to the school’s canteen.

"Teacher Han, what’s the matter?" The old lady who was in charge of the canteen raised her head when she heard the sound of footsteps. She smiled at Han Ruochen and smiled at her before saying, "Are you hungry?"

Han Ruochen shook her head. She said, "Mrs Jiang, if you don’t mind, can I take a knife with me?" when Mrs Jiang looked at her with confusion in her eyes, Han Ruochen smiled and softly said, "I know that my request is a bit presumptuous but truly I have no other intentions, you might have already heard about what happened today, Mrs Jiang. I am afraid that Ziyan’s lover might make things difficult for me. As a woman, I can only think of something to protect myself."

"Ziyan often says that her lover can make things difficult for me. I am afraid that he is a thug, so I dare not go against her."

"Ziyan has a lover who is a thug?" Mrs Jiang was stunned when she heard Han Ruochen’s remark. She had often run into Han Ziyan, and the girl always looked so polite; who would have thought that she was involved with a thug?

Han Ruochen smiled sheepishly. "I don’t know, but the way she threatens me all the time—I am doubtful that it is indeed the case. Mrs Jiang, do you mind if I take a knife with me? I promise I will return it tomorrow."

How could Mrs Jiang dare to refuse? She immediately nodded and handed a knife to Han Ruochen. She said to her, "If you really run into trouble, try to run. Don’t try to fight those thugs; there is quite a difference between men and women. Unless you have no other choice, you shouldn’t bother fighting with them."

Han Ruochen hummed and thanked Mrs Jiang before taking her leave.

It was a good thing that she took something with her for self-defence. Even though she had expected it, Han Ruochen couldn’t help but break out in cold sweat when she realised that someone was following her. She pursed her lips and clutched her purse close to her before breaking out in a run. The second she started running, the people behind her started to run as well.

Behind her, she could hear a man shout, "Hurry up and chase her. We can’t let that bitch escape!"

Hearing that voice, Han Ruochen gritted her teeth. She knew the man who was chasing behind her. It was none other than Yang Jianming’s cousin. He was a local thug and supported Yang Jianming in all kinds of dirty deeds. He was also the one who caught her when she tried to run away from the Yang family.

At that moment, Han Ruochen was filled with hatred; she wished she could kill the Yang family.

But she was just a weak woman at the moment; she couldn’t fight hard, so what she needed to do was to run away first. After she had regained strength and made a name for herself, she would have many more chances of taking revenge against the Yang family.
