In the company of the two great profligates, Lin Yun and the others were never bored. At the same time, word of Lu Tao and Guan Renjie’s hedonistic nature spread throughout the Yunlu Mountain Range.

"Pfft, they saw *me*," Guan Renjie retorted.

While the two were bickering, a large tree up ahead suddenly snapped in two, and a five-meter-tall Violent Bear appeared before the group.

"A Violent Bear... A Tier Two Demon Beast..." Seeing the creature, everyone murmured in astonishment. A Tier Two Demon Beast, possessing the strength of the Qi Sea Realm, was far beyond their ability to handle.

"Wait a second." Just as everyone was about to turn and flee, Lin Yun suddenly called out, stopping them.

"It’s not an adult yet. Its strength is only equivalent to that of a Tier One Peak Demon Beast."

In that brief moment, Lin Yun had clearly sensed that this Violent Bear had not yet reached Tier Two. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be sticking around; he would have immediately ordered everyone to retreat.

"Young Master Lin, even a Tier One Peak is more than we can handle," one of the guards said, his face grim.

"We’ve run into a Tier Two Demon Beast without even entering the depths of the mountain range. Don’t you all think this is a good thing?" Lin Yun asked the group with a faint smile.

"Tier Two Demon Beasts have a very strong sense of territory. Normally, they won’t leave their domain. Since this isn’t the territory of a Tier Two Demon Beast, there’s only one explanation for this Violent Bear’s appearance."

Lin Yun led them to the conclusion. A moment later, someone caught on, his eyes gleaming as he said, "Does that mean there’s Spirit Grass nearby?"

At these words, the crowd, which had been trembling in fear just moments before, was overcome with greed. A Spirit Medicine guarded by a Tier Two Demon Beast would surely be of a high grade. There might even be more than one stalk.

"Everyone, there’s definitely Spirit Grass here! Let’s kill this beast together!" Lin Yun shouted to the group, simultaneously drawing the Overlord Spear from his back.

"Kill!" At his command, the group roared in unison. For Spirit Grass, the risk was absolutely worth it.

Seeing the humans before it draw their weapons, the Violent Bear roared and swiped its enormous paw directly at the closest targets: Guan Renjie and Lu Tao.

"AHHH! HELP ME!" Seeing the attack, Guan Renjie quickly dodged, but Lu Tao, the weakest of them, could only scream for help. Then, in the nick of time, the Violent Bear’s massive paw slammed into the tree trunk just behind him.

Seeing that Lu Tao was somehow unharmed, Guan Renjie couldn’t help but mutter, ’Holy shit, are you kidding me? He’s totally fine?’

That Lu Tao had escaped completely unscathed was purely a matter of luck.

"Lu Tao, get back! We’re attacking!" Lin Yun yelled, taking the lead and charging the Violent Bear himself. Lu Bingning and the dozen or so Guan Family guards followed close behind.

More than a dozen people surrounded the Violent Bear, each one using their signature techniques. But the bear was no weakling; it was several times more powerful than the Demon Beasts they had slain over the past few days. Even with their numbers, the group failed to gain any advantage.

The two sides were locked in a stalemate. The Violent Bear’s strength was immense, its fur was thick, and its Defense Power was formidable. Although it now had many wounds, they were all superficial and hadn’t caused any real damage.

’It’s so tough... even my Overlord Spear can’t wound it.’ As he thrust his spear, Lin Yun felt the tip strike something like a slab of Refined Iron. It merely pierced the Violent Bear’s hide before it was stopped dead, unable to advance another inch.

"You beast, take this!" a Guan Family guard yelled, leaping behind the Violent Bear. He raised his steel blade high above his head and brought it down fiercely.

Sensing the man behind it, the Violent Bear roared, knocking back Lin Yun and the others with a single swipe. Then its paw, whistling through the air, viciously swatted the guard.

Completely unable to resist, the guard was sent flying by the blow, slamming hard against a distant tree trunk. He was utterly and completely dead.

’So strong,’ Lin Yun thought, horrified. The bear had killed a guard at the Second Layer of the Opening Realm with a single swipe.

"Lin Yun, aim for its eyes!" Lu Bingning shouted to him. Its eyes were the Violent Bear’s most vulnerable spot.

Lin Yun nodded. The rest of the group worked to keep the Violent Bear distracted while Lin Yun lurked to one side, waiting for an opening.

Finally, facing the coordinated assault, the Violent Bear stopped worrying about its own defense. It swiped its paws again and again, sending clouds of dust flying with every impact.

’Now’s my chance!’ Finding an opening, Lin Yun leaped into the air, his long spear striking true and plunging into the Violent Bear’s right eye.

With its right eye pierced, the Violent Bear’s roar of agony echoed through the woods as it went completely berserk. It crashed into the surrounding trees, snapping them like twigs as dust and debris flew everywhere.

"Lu Tao, look out!" Lin Yun, who had been keeping a close eye on the bear, suddenly realized it was now charging straight for Lu Tao.

Hearing Lin Yun’s warning, Lu Tao didn’t hesitate for a second. He turned tail and ran for his life. However, the Violent Bear stayed hot on his heels, its roars echoing incessantly.

’It’s over...’ Watching the bear close in on Lu Tao, everyone thought he was a dead man. At only the First Layer of the Opening Realm, how could he possibly withstand a single blow from the enraged beast?

Tears welled up in Lu Bingning’s eyes. Beside her, Lin Yun was already giving chase with his spear. To save Lu Tao, he had to kill the Violent Bear.

ROAR! Having caught up to Lu Tao, the Violent Bear let out a furious bellow and brought its massive paw crashing down. The spot where Lu Tao had been standing instantly erupted in a cloud of dust, obscuring whether he was dead or alive.

"He’s dead... Lu Tao is dead..." Watching the scene unfold, Lu Bingning collapsed to the ground. Lu Tao was her only brother. Though he was a hedonistic rake, their bond was incredibly deep.

Just then, Lin Yun, who had been in hot pursuit, seized the opportunity. He thrust the Overlord Spear forward, plunging it deep into the back of the Violent Bear’s neck.

"You beast, die!" Lin Yun roared, executing his Tiger Roar Fist and slamming a punch into the butt of the Overlord Spear’s shaft.

Propelled by the force of the Fierce Tiger Fist, the Overlord Spear surged forward with unstoppable momentum, instantly piercing through the Violent Bear’s throat.

As the Violent Bear fell dead, Lu Bingning scrambled over to where Lu Tao had been. All she saw was a massive bear paw, still pressed firmly into the ground where it had struck.

"Lu Tao... Brother..." Lu Bingning sobbed.

"Sis, I’m okay! Just get this stupid bear paw off of me!" Suddenly, Lu Tao’s voice came from underneath the paw.

"This is..." Everyone worked together to lift the paw, only to find that Lu Tao had fallen into a small pit, which had saved him from disaster.

’Holy shit, what kind of luck is that? How is he not dead?’ Guan Renjie, who had been just as worried moments before, was now staring at the unscathed Lu Tao, his mind completely blown. ’This luck... it’s simply heaven-defying.’
