- Chapter 1: Step 1 to Greatness: Wrongful Termination
Some time later, back in the cave.
"Gotta hunt to win over these beauties," Adrian mumbled to himself. "I guess that’s how things work in a savage world."
Tribe Mother had told him everything the group discussed in his absence. Basically, no woman, even in their world, wanted to mate with a useless man.
Hence, Amika wanted him to prove his worthiness. He pointed out the fact that he had killed three wanderers, but she just shook her head.
Amiya was the only one who had seen him kill them. Hence, that incident couldn’t be used to prove his worthiness in Amika’s eyes.
Adrian then pointed at Amiya, saying let her be his mate then. However, the mother objected to that, too, saying Amiya didn’t want to mate with him.
Tsk, what a liar she is.
He was no fool. Although he had been a loser when it came to women, he was decent at judging people. That’s how he knew the Tribe Mother was lying, besides, Amiya seemed angry ever since the mother announced Amika to be his potential mate.
The Tribe Mother must have sensed his displeasure and told him that he could reject them, but then he would have to leave the tribe.
Since Adrian had triggered his talent on all the women, he naturally didn’t want that and agreed.
And that’s how he got the cave all to himself as his ’residence’. Meanwhile, the women all slept together in the thatched hut right outside the cave.
[Now you have to hunt some beast to satisfy the tribe.]
"Hunting is not the issue, finding the prey is," Adrian mumbled. "Oh well, I’ll think about it later."
[Boy, I think you’re adapting it all too easily.]
"What choice do I have?" he chuckled. "Would losing my mind help me here? Besides, it was you people who sent me here. I’m just trying to live through the problem I was forced into."
Hearing Adrian’s explanation, the Playboy ancestor lost all his will to bully him more. In the silence, Adrian was about to drift to sleep when a new screen appeared before him.
[Daily settlement has arrived!]

"I assume that’s quite a high score?" Adrian asked the ancestor.
[Why are you asking me? Just see the rankings yourself.]
"...right."
Adrian opened the status window again and noticed a ranking tab hidden between his stats tab and inventory. He clicked on it, expecting to be on top, but he wasn’t.
In fact, he was fourth in the regional ranking and his name wasn’t even in the world ranking, which only showed the top hundred players.
"129 points... How much did the guy work to get so many points?" Adrian said, looking at the world list. "The top guy in the region only had 92 points."
With all the blessings he got, Adrian had assumed he would rank at the top of the world. Thankfully, the reality check arrived at the right time to ground him.
"Let’s check the rewards first," Adrian said, rubbing his hands.

"Damn... so this is the true strength of 10x rewards," Adrian said, looking at his almost-filled virtual inventory.
The inventory was arranged in a 4x3 grid, and all twelve slots were already filled from the ten kinds of rewards he got from the settlement, the two slots from the pet recruitment, and the common equipment cards.
Thankfully, the same items could be stacked. Hence, even with the 10x bonus, they only took one inventory slot.
"Good thing I can combine these cards, let’s try it now!"
Adrian ignored the huts for the moment. Besides, having multiple huts wasn’t bad. If he gave the women proper huts to sleep in, their favorability towards him would increase.
Instead, he focused on the crude bone knife first. He grabbed the white metal cards from the inventory and spread them on the ground.
"Eleven weapon cards," he mumbled. "Now that I think about it, I didn’t see any weapons on the women. Do they even have one?"
For a moment, he wondered if he should save the weapon cards like the building card, but decided against it. He had to hunt tomorrow, so there was no point in saving them.
[Combine two Crude Bone Knife (common) cards?]
"Yes."
The moment he said yes, two cards of the bunch rose in the air and slammed into one another, letting out a green light. Adrian was amazed at the effects as two cards merged into one.
A new card appeared. The metal plate remained the same, but the white borders were replaced by green ones.
Even the embossed pattern of a simple sharpened bone knife had changed, and it now had a leather strip strapped around the previously plain handle. Even the weapon’s name had changed to [Hunting Bone Knife].
"Woah..."
At that moment, Adrian completely forgot it was a survival apocalypse and not an actual game, and went on a combining spree.
He combined eight more [Crude Bone Knife] to four [Hunting Bone Knife], leaving him with one [Crude Bone Knife], which he kept for Sera since he was taking her with him to hunt tomorrow.
Next, he combined four [Hunting Bone Knife] to make two blue rarity [Worn Hunting Knife], leaving a [Hunting Bone Knife] as an extra.
Finally, he combined the two [Worn Hunting Knife] into a single purple rarity [Honed Bone Dagger]! At the same time, the information regarding the weapon appeared before him.
